View 2 RepliesI have an HP 735n Desk PC running Win XP Home with SP 2. It reached a point of only starting under "Safe Start" so out of final desperation, I used (F10) System Recovery. The computer is starting AOK now and I have recaptured a lot of data by uninstall/install of programs where I'm told "Your Data Has Not Been Affected". However, when I reached the point of needing to reconnect to the internet VIA a wireless home LAN utilizing a D-Link DIR-615 (ver 3.21) Router with (1) computer connected thru a USB Adapter WUA-2340 (all working fine) I reinstalled a USB Adapter DWA-125 (ver A1) {Which had been working OK} and I get message "No Internet Connection Available" altho' all other indicators are "GO" The Device is working properly and net work indicators are all showing the D-Link USB Adapters on both my Compaq (with Win 7) and the HP (with XP) are working. I have worked on computers for years and never needed to do a System Recovery before and I have NEVER had any trouble getting on a network nor the internet before. REMEMBER, the HP W/XP CANNOT BE USED TO DOWN LOAD. It won't go on line! I can use my Compaq if we can make CD's, DVD's, or Flash Drive copies of anything needed for transport to the HP.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm living in Australia for a few months and my accommodation does not have a phone line, so I've been using mobile broadband dongles instead. This worked fine until recently, when I abruptly became unable to access the internet. The laptop recognises the dongle and seems to connect, but the download/upload speeds are at a constant zero bytes per second (I have tried to ping Google while 'connected' but received no response). I have tried two dongles from Dodo and one from Telstra, with the same results. Initially, I assumed that this was simply due to signal strength, but each of the three dongles I have tested work fine on another laptop in the same location (I'm using one of them to post this). I have also tried using the dongles with my laptop in other locations, including the city centre, but with no success.
Also, I seem to be unable to connect to any wireless networks (e.g. McDonalds wifi) - the laptop detects the network ok, and seems to be connected, but I am unable to access any web pages etc. In the Network and Sharing Centre, the laptop is connected with the wifi network, but the wifi network does not seem to be connected to the internet. I'm unsure if this is related to the above problem, however.Like I say, everything seems to have been working fine up until about a week agoIf
I am hoping to be able to connect remotely to my friend's Vista laptop (connected to the Internet via a dial-up in a developing country) from my own wireless broadband PC (Win 7).
Is there any recommended software that would enable me to do that or is Remote Desktop Connection able to do it, and what information would I need in order to be able to identify her on the Internet? I would have thought that any IP address that she can see under 'Network & Sharing Centre' or through the Command Prompt would only display the generic IP address of her ISP, wouldn't it? And would both of us need the same type of software to allow me to connect?
Is it possible to set up a multi use port that will use dot1x to authenticate several laptops, only 1 connected at a time, but I need the phone to automatically connect without having to make changes to the phone config as I don't have access to the Cisco call manager to set up the authentication.
Setup would be using catalyst 3650x at the access layer, various Cisco ip phones models and a Cisco acs 4.2 server doing the authentication. The laptops would be plugged in through the phone. The switch is already in use and setup and using both data and voice vlans, but now I need to enable it for several users. The acs is already setup to authenticate our wireless network so I'm planning on using the same setup for the wired side.
i m getting error 769 when i m trying 2 connect my broadband.. when i searched for network adapter 2 make it enabled in d device manager duologue box.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy wireless decided to disconnect and reconnect randomly throughout any time I use it. Thought it maybe the the router so bought a new one Netgear and its was fine for the first 48 hours and now its keeps doing the same again. Its fine if I plug in the ethernet cable so no the modem and router are fine. Not sure what it is, my Toshiba laptop is probably about 5 years old - is it time for a new one? Is it something simple or what?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can not get onto the internet via dial up. The message says that I have no dial tone. Using the same line, I get a dial tone on the phone. I can get onto the internet via a DSL connection, but it will not make a connection when I have a telehone line inserted in the phone line jack. This problem started after the power went off and on quickly two times. I have followed all the instructions that I have found to reset the modem, but to no avail. Is it possible that the phone line jack needs to be replaced.I have a gateway laptop with Vista program.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Toshiba Satellite C660 laptop with Windows 7 on Sept 1st, and had no problems at first with the mobile broadband. However, on Monday 13th I noticed massive spikes in the data usage. After browsing the internet for around an hour I decided to check my usage randomly, and it was at 350mb!Since then, there's times when I don't even have my browser open and in the space of 5 minutes it will reach 150mb of usage. There's also times when it works absolutely perfectly for hours on end (including today, where it was working fine up until around an hour ago!) I phoned the mobile broadband company twice last week, the first time the person told me that it was a computer issue and to go to an IT repair place.
So after sending him screencaps of Windows task manager processes/applications/network he can't see anything that could be doing it. He advised me to do a full antivirus scan, and full malwarebytes and ad aware scans and they've all come up clean. The second time I phoned the broadband company, they told me that there were some wrong settings, and that they've been changed now but if I have any more problems to ring customer care again. So after seeing an offer with a different mobile broadband provider, I decided to buy a new broadband stick and change networks in hoping that would solve the problem.... it didn't.
So there's definitely something about the new laptop that's causing the data usage to spike I don't use any torrent programs, and haven't been watching youtube videos constantly or trying to stream online, like I said there's been times where I don't even have Google Chrome open and it's using up all my data! I don't use Skype or anything like that either (to be honest I have barely any programs on this new laptop)I've turned off all the automatic updates for as many programs as I think can have them. Ii's definitely improved a bit though, but there are still times (like around an hour ago) that the data usage starts spiking randomly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy vista box is not connecting to internet. If I do a repair it appears to resolve the problem. However if I then attempt to pull up IE or Mozilla it takes a long time to load and eventually I lose the connection. Resulting in "cannot display webpage". I have scanned for virus and spyware and found very little spyware nothing malicous. Refusing to believe there was no virus I reformatted HD completly still having the same issue. Not sure what else I can do, I have searched for the most recent drivers. When check the status of my connection it shows that I am getting data packets sent and recieved. I cannot connect in safe mode either. I suppose it could be a bad NIC but I would think that if it was bad it wouldnt indicated that im connected and showing active data packets.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently reformatted and restored the original os on my Gateway MX6920 which is windows xp media center edition. Before and after restoring the original os, however, I still have not been able to connect to the internet through the onboard lan that doesn't seem to be active or even be seen by the computer. How should I fix this? Is there a possibility that the internal lan was disabled mechanically? Or would I have to get a pci lan card? as I have been trying to get this computer to work properly for the last 4 weeks. Also, before I restored the os, I put a pci lan card in but it still would not recognize that there was an internet connection when I would connect it to an active ethernet connection. I'm worried that I still will not be able to connect when I get a new pci lan card because of unknown reasons that I have been trying to figure out for quite some time now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 1.5 year old Packard Bell iXtreme M5722 with an Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz, 2499 Mhz & 4 Logical Processors I have a supposedly unlimited broadband package but my PC has been unable to have proper internet access for the past several weeks.I can use the internet occasionally, but to do so I need to constantly disconnect/reconnect with the home network, and even then it's poor. Other computers in my house have had none of these problems, and my PC is actually the newest (running Windows 7 Home Premium). My concern is that my PC is already pretty poor, as in I have to start it and then restart it in order to do basic things like watch video or play PC games. I had the system 'sorted' a few months ago, and to my knowledge that involved wiping the system and then reinstalling Windows. The problem with this is that I now have a "non-genuine" copy of Windows 7 running on my PC.
