There is currently only one other laptop connect to this router and yet it will not let me connect to it. I have matched all the setting from the current laptop to the one i am trying to connect however it still will not even pick up a signal. I have phoned my network provider and they couldnt manage to find out the problem. When i try to search for wireless network connections there are none found even though the wifi button is on?

It will either not find the signal, or not connect to it unless I have my laptop wired with an ethernet cable. My network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n. I have tried updating the driver, and multiple different routers/connections.(Yes the adapter is enabled to search for connections, it just doesnt find them unless I have it wired)

I have no problems when i connect via the patch lead. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless driver and i have checked to make sure i have an upto date driver as well. I run off vista, whats confusing me (doesn't take much) is that it was ok when i had my bt router but then changed to sky and it hasn't worked since.

Oct 9, 2011Iv been having a wierd time with my computer connecting to the internet lately. What we have is a setup of 2 routers:
1st - has my mums computer plugged into it and an xbox 360, and gets access to the internet through a modem.
2nd - is plugged into the first router, and it has my computer and my brothers connected.
Lately the 2nd router can't seem to pick up any internet connection and I'm not sure why. Usually the only way to fix this problem has usually been to reboot the modem and the 1st router, but since my mum often uses her computer its kind of awkward for me to keep rebooting it when she's using the internet just fine. As far as I'm aware the settings on both routers are still at their default values when we originally got them, so why I'm being disconnected 50% of the time is a bit of a nuisance.

Thought it maybe the the router so bought a new one Netgear and its was fine for the first 48 hours and now its keeps doing the same again. Its fine if I plug in the ethernet cable so no the modem and router are fine. Not sure what it is, my Toshiba laptop is probably about 5 years old - is it time for a new one? Sep 6, 2012I'm living in Australia for a few months and my accommodation does not have a phone line, so I've been using mobile broadband dongles instead. This worked fine until recently, when I abruptly became unable to access the internet. The laptop recognises the dongle and seems to connect, but the download/upload speeds are at a constant zero bytes per second (I have tried to ping Google while 'connected' but received no response). I have tried two dongles from Dodo and one from Telstra, with the same results. Initially, I assumed that this was simply due to signal strength, but each of the three dongles I have tested work fine on another laptop in the same location (I'm using one of them to post this). I have also tried using the dongles with my laptop in other locations, including the city centre, but with no success.
Also, I seem to be unable to connect to any wireless networks (e.g. McDonalds wifi) - the laptop detects the network ok, and seems to be connected, but I am unable to access any web pages etc. In the Network and Sharing Centre, the laptop is connected with the wifi network, but the wifi network does not seem to be connected to the internet. I'm unsure if this is related to the above problem, however.Like I say, everything seems to have been working fine up until about a week agoIf
Connect Remotely To Vista Laptop From My Own Wireless Broadband PC (Windows 7)?
May 11, 2012I am hoping to be able to connect remotely to my friend's Vista laptop (connected to the Internet via a dial-up in a developing country) from my own wireless broadband PC (Win 7).
Is there any recommended software that would enable me to do that or is Remote Desktop Connection able to do it, and what information would I need in order to be able to identify her on the Internet? I would have thought that any IP address that she can see under 'Network & Sharing Centre' or through the Command Prompt would only display the generic IP address of her ISP, wouldn't it? And would both of us need the same type of software to allow me to connect?

Mar 18, 2012My pc isn't picking up any wireless connections even if they have no pass on them. I don't know what the cause is I trouble shooted my wireless network connection driver 3 times I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and nothing happened. Updated it too. I even tried doing a roll back but still nothing. And when I checked the driver it says device working properly. I have a Toshiba satellite, windows xp.
