Just made a fresh computer, installed Win98 (have only 128 ram so no XP) I have a card I put in the computer from Linksys which allows for a desktop to have wireless internet. I installed the Linksys software. (first thing I've ever installed on this Computer after Windows) It doesn't pick up the wireless signal in the house (my laptop does just fine).. is there another program floating around somewhere?
My laptop will work on a wired connction just fine, however it fails to pick up wireless internet signals. It will either not find the signal, or not connect to it unless I have my laptop wired with an ethernet cable. My network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n. I have tried updating the driver, and multiple different routers/connections.(Yes the adapter is enabled to search for connections, it just doesnt find them unless I have it wired)
I got high speed internet last week and have very little understanding of networking. I think I need either a Wireless Access Point, Bridge or Converter. What I'm trying to do: I currently have a Linksys E1000..I have two computers that access this point via built in adapters in the computers. In another room are my gaming consoles and television that I would like to hook up to the internet as well. Is there a wireless adapter that will pick up my Linksys E1000 signal and let me plug ethernet cords into it so my consoles and television can access the network?
I am using a Negear Wireless USB adapter for the Dell Dimension 2400. The computer can see the wireless adapter in Device Manager; but it does not pick up any wireless signals.
There is a wireless switch to turn on/off for the laptop, but a desktop does not have such feature.
i have bootcamp installed on my macbook pro and the windows side wont pic up my wifi signal. It did work once and then wen i had a mac update download ever since then the windows side wont recognize my WiFI name or pw,..
I have an Aspire 7520 laptop and want to use it wirelessly on my router, it will not connect or even pick up the signal. I have no problems when i connect via the patch lead. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless driver and i have checked to make sure i have an upto date driver as well. I run off vista, whats confusing me (doesn't take much) is that it was ok when i had my bt router but then changed to sky and it hasn't worked since.
I bought the Telkom wi-fi router with A 3G dongle. If I plug the 3G dongle directly into a laptop it picks up immediately but when I plug it into the router it doesn't pick it up at all.
Recently got satellite high speed. Am trying to hook up the wireless router my son gave me. Installed and set up but my PC doesn't recognize it and my phone won't pick it up.
I'm just building my gaming computer and have to start figuring out how to get internet on it. Considering I don't have a modem in my room, I would need a wireless card, right?
i have a packard bell network.i formatted the whole laptop.and now my laptop doesnot show any wireless network, however connects to dial up connection.i am using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit os
Recently I bought a new netgear router. It has two separate wireless signals. One is the main wireless connection for my computers. The other is a slower backup network for smartphones, apple tv, and guests. All of the other devices in the house can find both signals, but my main PC is only finding the backup network. It works fine for general browsing, but is very slow for downloads and unusable for gaming
I have a WLC 4404. I added a new AP to the network and it is associated with the WLC now. But still its not braodcasting the ssids. I compared the configuration with the ones installed before and configuration is same.
I finished building my computer today, installed a fresh os and all the necessary drivers that came with the dvds provided, yet the wireless card doesn't even appear anywhere in the computer. The ethernet cabled one does, but not the wireless. Trying to connect to anything wireless just gives an endless searching process, with no results. I can't test the ethernet either, my router is all the way into the living room, way far out of reach.
Specs: MB: Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 GPU: Asus 6870 HD CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 I don't think anything else is necessary, is it?
I have a an HP Pavilion dv6000t notebook running Windows Vista.I have a wireless router at home and connect to the wireless signal using both this computer and my other computer that I use for work. Yesterday, out of the blue, my laptop stopped connecting to my home wireless signal. It detects the signal, but when I click on it to connect (something I shouldn't have to do, as it is configured to connect automatically), I get a message saying that it couldn't connect and suggests that the signal strength is low.I know that the signal strength is fine as I am connected just fine on my work computer.I can plug my laptop into the router using a cable and it connects just fine that way, so the only problem is with the wireless signal. I have restarted the computer, modem, and router, to no avail.
So lately my computer's wireless network has started to get really bad, we have 100mbit, and it only gets about 0.3. This seems to be an issue with the range, or something, since if i move the computer right next to the router, it runs at about 50-60mbit. Now a few days ago i decided to get an ethernet cable to try and solve the issue, but my computer doesn't detect a LAN connection, only the wireless one ( atleast it doesnt show up among the other connections). Some weeks ago the wireless connection worked nicely, but now suddenly it doesnt anymore. Currently i'm typing this from an old mac computer, since my internet doesn't work at all on my pc.
I have two PC laptops. One operates Windows Vista, the other has XP. I recently just had to do a hard reset on my linksys wpn824v3 router and made a new network name and password. I also changed the password for the router (suspect I may have a virus). My girlfriends computer (vista) sees the new network name and connects fine, my XP computer doesn't even see the new network, but it sees my neighbors networks.. and the laptops are sitting right next to each other.
I have a Dell Vostro 3460 laptop with Windows 7, 64-bit. My wireless driver is Dell Wireless 1704.802.11b/g/n. I just got this computer in December, and it worked fine for a couple of months, then about a month ago, I started having these problems.
Whenever I turn off or put my computer to sleep and turn it back on, my wireless connection doesn't work. The wireless indicator light on the front of the laptop is not on, and I push the FN+F2 button (which is supposed to turn on wireless), but it does nothing. I checked under the device manager, and the wireless adapter is not there.
After the first time I ran the diagnostics, I reinstalled the driver. The I restarted the computer, and the wireless was working. However, that night I turned of the computer, and when I turned it back on the next morning, the wireless was not working again.Other things I have discovered that sometimes work as a temporary fix:
Sometimes, if I wait 5 or so minutes, the wireless indicator light will come on, and then I can restart my computer and connect to a network, but most of the time, I can wait for hours and it never comes on.If I start in computer into safe mode or the BIOS screen or diagnostic screen, sometimes the wireless will start working after I exit that mode and start into normal operating. For example, one of the times that I ran the PSA diagnostics, the wireless started working afterwards, but stopped working again the next day. Another time, I started the computer in safe mode with networking to see if that would work, and the wireless did not work while I was in safe mode, but then I restarted the computer in normal mode, and the wireless came on.
One time, I went under Device Manager and did "Scan for Hardware Changes." After that, the wireless indicator light came on, and I restarted the computer and was able to connect to a network. However, all of these solutions were temporary, and some of these solutions only work one time but not again.I called Dell Support a couple of weeks ago, and they said that my antivirus program might be stopping the wireless driver from starting up. I have Trend Micro, which came with the computer.
My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.
My pc isn't picking up any wireless connections even if they have no pass on them. I don't know what the cause is I trouble shooted my wireless network connection driver 3 times I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and nothing happened. Updated it too. I even tried doing a roll back but still nothing. And when I checked the driver it says device working properly. I have a Toshiba satellite, windows xp.
I recently installed a new GFX card and I went in uninstalling the other gfx drivers for my gfx card that I had previously and I guess I uninstalled the LAN driver I have went to the computer manufacturer site and downloaded it but it doesn't have an .exe so I cant install I know how to install a driver without .exe but I when I go into Device manager and go into Network Adapters but it only has the wireless network driver that im using now so i cant do it i have no where else to turn other than taking it to a computer repair shop and that person does it. [code]
I just installed a new video card so this is probably the problem it says i might have disconnected a wire there or maybe its just a driver if its a wire.
i have a computer at my company that is wired in to the network. we upgraded the core switches a while back and lost connection with the computer. i personally traced the connection back and it is plugged into the switch, but i still get no link lights on the NIC. that network drop and cable work for any other computer or laptop i plug it in to, and the problem computer in question works on any other cable/drop.
when I click on an icon like yahoo or facebook or any other icons my compuyrt says doesnt recognize, typed in add wrong, cant figute it out. Its on dsl an my laptops work fine from my wireless.
I have an old computer (xp circa 2005) and I would like to connect to my n router wich is using wpa2. The old computer doesn't seem to have wpa2 as an option, is there anything I can do?
My computer does not see the internet. If I do a restore to an earlier restore point, it can see the internet,, but when I do a restart it goes back to not allowing me to access it. The weather gadget cannot see the internet either. The OS is Win7 64.
I have an older Dell Desktop (Dimension E310) with Windows XP. I haven't turned it on in a year or so. Last time I used it I had a PCI Adapter for wireless and it worked fine.
Since then we've moved and are relying on a wireless router and I'm now trying to reconnect it, but it no longer has the little wireless icon. It has the Intel PROset for wired connections (from when I first bought it), and I ran the diagnostic on it, and everything passed except for the "link test." What do I do now?
My netbook have decided to stop pickingup the wifi in my house. My parents laptop picks it up and my iPod picks it up but for some reason it won't pick it up any more?
I have recently bought a second hand toshiba tecra laptop, i am trying to connect it to my netgear router. There is currently only one other laptop connect to this router and yet it will not let me connect to it. I have matched all the setting from the current laptop to the one i am trying to connect however it still will not even pick up a signal. I have phoned my network provider and they couldnt manage to find out the problem. When i try to search for wireless network connections there are none found even though the wifi button is on?
I just recieved new 7921 phones. I cannot get them to pick up a dhcp address
I keep getting DHCP "Timeout's" and " Configuring IP" . The ould 7921's and the new 7925's work just fine. I have tried removing and reconfiguring the WLAN and Interface on the Controllers. I even removed and reconfigured the DHCP scope in Infoblox.
My computer suddenly doesnt recognize my router.it recognizes othrer routers, and my other PC's are recognizing the router.the router is located very close to the PC, and no other electronic devices located near by.
