Jun 3, 2012Have set up a pair of ACS 5.3 servers and have set up device administration authentication be passed through to an RSA server via RADIUS. All works great.
What we want to do is go a step further and set the system up so that ACS Administrators also have to authenticate to the ACS system by RSA via RADIUS (the same as the Device Authentication we've set up) for ACS administration tasks.
Looking at the options available in the ACS Administration setup (administrator accounts etc) there doesn't seem to be an option to authenticate via another method apart from a local administrator account on the ACS.
Is it possible to do this?

Apr 7, 2013I have a cisco ISE 3355 and WLC 5508 and microsoft Active Directory 2008. I joind the ISE to the ADe successfully and I can see all groups on the AD, also I integrated the ISE with the WLC. my problem is when I created the Authentication policy on the ISE and joined to the AP by the PC nothing applied to the PC.

Jan 24, 2012I'm currently looking for a solution in order to restrict the modification of the host internal identity store (add or delete MAC host) per group. The default administrator roles does not include "per group restriction". Under the ACS I defined one group per department? My objective it to allow each department to access their ACS MAC database to add or delete MAC addresses as required.
How to restrict internal identity store per group?Do I need to create new roles? and how?I was not able to get an answer from the ACS ADMIN manual.

Jul 2, 2012i have configured my ACS 5.3 server to access AD for user authentication but i would as well like to use the internal store for some users.The problem is that when i test with an internal user account, i can see in the logs that it still tries to access the AD for this user and i receive a message in the logs. " 22056 subject not found in the applicable data store".i have already defined the identity sequence to first use the AD, then if user not found, use the internal database.

Apr 23, 2011My ACS5.2 joined Windows 2003 Active Directory successfully. I created Support group with user1 in the internal store, also created Support-AD group with userad1 in the AD store. Identity Store Sequency is set Internal first, then AD. I can map Support-AD group to the local Support group without any problem.
Internal user gets authenticated and authorized OK. However, if the user is an AD user, the rule for AD users is not picked. So it goes to default.

Mar 3, 2011I'm trying to synch time in an ACS 5.1 but after configuring with the ntp server command the show ntp command displays that time is synchronised to local net at stratum 11.The ntp source is a Windows 2003 server and the show ntp command shows that it has an external refid with at stratum 2, but still the ACS won't synchronize with this source, only local.

Nov 7, 2011Been tinkering around in our ACS 5.2 appliances today to setup PEAP. I generated a self signed certificate under local certificates which I want to remove now. But when I try to delete it I get the following message:
This System Failure occurred: Certificate is associated with a protocol. Hence it cannot be deleted.. Your changes have not been save. Click OK to return to the list page.
I assume this is because it is associated with the EAP protocol, but I cannot uncheck the box when I edit the local certificate. How can I get rid of this test certificate?

I used to do this in ACS 4.x.I created a user in the internal identity store.I tried configuring a policy to allow this users TACACS authentication multiple ways to no avail. I cannot find a config example doc and cannot figure it out from the user guide as the documention is sorely lacking.

- Wireless Users >> Cisco WLC >> ACS 5.2 >> ADs <-- problem
Last time I tested with ACS, it worked but didn't do migration as there'll be changes from ADs. Now my customer wants ACS migration by creating new Group in AD, I also update ACS config. For the user from the old group, authentication is ok.For the user from the new group, authentication fails. With subject not found error, showing the user is from the old group.
Seems like ACS is querying from old records (own cache or database). Already restared the ACS but still the same error.
Note: My customer can only access their local ADs (trusted by Global ADs). Local ADs & ACS are in the same network, ACS should go to local AD first.How can we check or make sure it?

General idea is that users authenticate from our VPN appliance via RADIUS, and upon authentication, their static IP is passed back to the VPN device. I can attach an arbitrary field to my local users by going to System Administration -> Configuration -> Dictionaries -> Identity -> Internal Users, but how do I get that IP address passed back when the user is authenticated via Radius?

I configured A sequence to use LDAP 1st then Internal and i shut off the link to the LDAP but ACS will not use internal, AAA Diagnostics keeps telling me that Cannot establish connection with LDAP server and will not use the internal store.

Now we would like to authenticate the local users, if the user is not found in the AD. Is this possible and how can I configure this with the new policies? I tested it with "dropping" when the user is not found in the AD, but then the Radius server will be marked as "dead" and the other AD users can't login for a given period. Maybe we can configure the dead time to 0, but this is not as nice it could be.

Feb 26, 2013So I've decided to utilize 802.1x on a switch module on a 2901, reasons being for mobility for a laptop and network security.
However, the 802.1x authentication occurs over the VPN Tunnel (over the Internet). What our concern is, what happens if the Internet or Tunnel goes down? I know that 802.1x does not authenticate against the IOS local DB, so what would be another option in case this scenario happened?
There will only be one device authenticating (maybe 2) and they are 2 HP Windows 7 laptops.

Feb 26, 2013I have a need to allow a small group of users temporary level-15 access to several 6500 switches (running 12.2-33 SXJ2 code), but do not want to provide them with the enable secret password which is used on the rest of the network (over 1200 devices). I tried to eliminate AAA using the "no aaa new-model" command, but was told I could not remove aaa while there were active sessions, and "login local" no longer appeared as an option for vty lines. So, I created a local user database called "support" which I used to replace the "group" entry in the authentication and authorization sections of our AAA config and for login on vty 0 4. [The username is given a privilege level of 15 along with an individual password for authentication. (ex. user name jsmith privilege 15 password 0 xxxxx)] I modified our AAA configuration to support local login, but was unable to establish "enable mode" (i.e. # prompt) with any account. May 15, 2012i am running NX-OS image n5000-uk9.5.1.3.N1.1.bin on the nexus 5020 platform.i have configured authorization with tacacs+ on ACS server version 5.2 with fall back to switch local database.a user test with priv 15 is craeted on ACS server, password test2 everything works fine, until i create the same username on the local database with privilege 0. ( it doesnt matter if the user in local database was created before user in ACS or after ) e.g.: username test password test1 role priv-0 (note passwords are different for users in both databases)
after i create the same user in local database with privilege 0,if i try to connect to the switch with this username test and password defined on ACS, i get only privilege 0 authorization, regardless, that ACS server is up and it should be primary way to authenticate and authorizate the user.
