What i want to do is simple. Being able for any member of Administrators group to authenticate on our ASA5510 based on the AD credentials.
What is correct CISCO procedure for that?
Looking to fine tune Cisco IPSec client RA-VPN authentication on our ASA-5510. Currently using NT Domain authentication. It's been working fine for quite a while but is too broad a brush. It authenticates anyone who is in the domain. We need to only authenticate folks who are in a specific AD remote access security group. I'm testing LDAP but am getting the same results. I can get it to authenticate based on overall domain membership but can't seem to figure out how to check group membership.
We've updated to ASA 8.2(1) and ASDM 6.2(1). It seems to have more LDAP functionality but I'm not an LDAP expert. I've posted an image of the LDAP server dialog from the ASDM. I originally tried putting the Group DN in the Base DN field but kept getting a "can't find user" error when testing. I also tried adding the group info in the "LDAP parameters for group search" field at the bottom. But it doesn't seem to be looking there. Note that the current value is the Group Base DN only. I also tried putting "memberOf=" in front of that. Still no luck. The values shown in the image work for simple domain membership.
I have ASA 5510 with CSC-SSM-10 .ASA 5510 IOS version- 8.4.2 and CSC-SSM-10 IOS version 6.6.1162.Web filtering is working fine with respective to my configuration.From yesterday morning, i was facing issue with the sites like gmail, webmail.After giving credentials like username and password in the web page, the page is not resonding.In troubleshooting process, i removed all the acls, class maps which will direct all the traffic towards the CSC. In this scenario all my mail service sites are opening.If we apply the these ACLs and Class-Maps, only my mail service sites only affecting.

But that is not happening.When I boot SW1 , ASA-2 shows "Failover LAN Interface: failover Ethernet0/0 (Failed - No Switchover)" and remains standby.Fail over works properly If ASA-1 boots.

I cannot change the port the clients use to connect to this server, so I can't do a port map in my NAT router. The solution I had in mind, is to filter on source address. If a client from public IP X.X.X.X connects to port Z, I want it to go to internal server 10.10.10.10 and if a client from public IP Y.Y.Y.Y connects to port Z, I want it to go to internal server 10.20.20.20. Is this possible? I'm using an ASA5510 but I could also switch to a 5505 for this.

I have a 5510 authenticating successfully with a RADIUS server. I'm using it for VPN authentication and it works great. I would also like to do this for administrator access to the ASA. When I turn it on though, any authentication for VPN access is also granted administrative access to the ASA. Obviously, I need to limit that to a select few users.

I have configured a double authentication for my client to access SSL portal:
First authentication: AD serverSecondary authentication: IAS for my token SAFENET ALADDIN The server IAS is declared on a W2K3 and it's standard.
The problem I have is that after more than 24hours of unutilization, when i try to log in, my authentication failed the first time and then the other tries work fine as long as I use it in a period of 24hours.
I first thought about the timeout so i tried to put a "timeout" of 15seconds for AD and IAS servers and a "retry intervall" of 3 seconds, it doesn't change much.
Is there a tool/option in the ASA to check connectivity with the radius every 1h for example.
I have a strange problem in my ASA 5510 firewall. I turned on HTTP inspect policy to block certain URLs, but that destroyed svn communication. Interestingly, if I use simple web-browser to access svn server - it works, but any svn-client requests fail with an error "Could not read status line: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". I did some packet sniffing, and discovered that with HTTP inspect off the Webbed request is answered, but with HTTP inspect on it is rejected with an error unauthorized. Here are examples of success and failed conversation packets:

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am setting up a new ASA. Actually it's an old 5510, but this is a new temporary install until the one we ordered comes in. Everything is working except for SSH. I have SSH open on the inside and outside interfaces and I get a prompt when I try to SSH to it from either the inside or outside. But after I put in my username and password it tells me that my credentials are invalid. I am using a local username/password, not AAA and it accepts that username and password for the console. Console and telnet (password only) both work so I can get in to make changes. When I debug SSH, the error states that my username and password are incorrect. But this happens even when I create a new, simple username/password to test. I've even gone so far as to copy/paste the username and password into the login window just to be safe (making sure I don't copy spaces, etc). Below is a copy of the SSH Debug output followed by a sanitized copy of the config. I have AAA configured for remote VPN users, but not for access to the ASA. Also, this problem existed before I created the AAA settings for the VPN users. Also, I have zeroized and regenerated the RSA keys a couple of times to no avail. [code]

I have gone through various cisco documents. I couldnot find this option explained. Is MAC address based authentication possible in anyconnect vpn without having AAA server in place?There is an option to select end point attribute as MAC address, while creating Dynamic access policies. But at the host scan configuration of Cisco secure desktop, there are no options for performing MAC retrieval.

I currently have a asa 5500. is there a way to authenticate based on mac address throught the vpn client. We are haveing problems with useres using there home computers to connect. Yes they are smart enought to install the client and copy the profile.

Clients (Windows XP) have a certificate installed which will grand access to the network and put them in the correct VLAN. So far, so good. Some users are testing with Windows 7 in the same set-up as above and run into strange behaviour. The problem is that after a random timer the machine gets de-authenticated and nothing besides a reboot works to get the computer authenticated again (from a Windows point of view). It looks like this only happens to users who are using a certificate to authenticate, Windows 7 MAC bypass users have no such problems. View 7 Replies View RelatedI am deploying ISE with WLC 7.4. I have two SSID(s) running in my network 1. Corporate & 2. Services. I have a domain setup lets say "AD.com" with 4 groups 1. Corporate, 2. Services, 3. Employees, 4. Contractors.Here is an example of the scenario that I want:
AD.com Group : Corporate's User : 1. C_USER1
2. C_USER2
3. C_USER3
4. C_USER4
5. C_USER5

Now what I want to do is have 802.1x authentication on my Corporate SSID that will check in AD.com, ONLY AND in ONLY corporate group for authentication. That is only C_USER1 to C_USER5 are allowed to connect to it. Users from any other AD group shouldnt be authenticated on this SSID.The same for the services group & SSID.
I've been working on trying to get RADUIS authentication working for devices connecting to our corporate mobile APN. Out APN provider sends us Username & Password attributes which I can authenticate fine using ACS 5.2 but I'm having a problem using other attributes sent in the Access-Request. We have mobile SIM cards with an MSISDN value match with a physical device with an IMEI value. The SIM cards cannot be used in other devices, only their matched device. The provider passes us the MSISDN attribute under RADIUS-IETF 31 and the IMEI under a VSA of 3GPP-IMEI

I am a novice with networks but do have a fair understanding of networks. I have a small business network, utilizing a RVS4000 router (Firmware V2.0.27)I am attempting to set up firewall rules to block certain web sites at certain times.I have successfully set up rules using source and destination ranges, to deny service 24 hours a day everyday.
However and here is the problem when I attempt to edit any of the rules (I want to change the time to certain hours of the day) it allows me to edit the rule but when I attempt to save I get an error message up saying there are invalid characters and it will not save the changes?create the whole thing with the changes I want it works fine, is this a known bug?
I have two 1811's connected in a lab using a ipsec vpn tunnel (using a switch to simulate an internet connection between them).I am trying to configure one of the routers as a ZBPF just to allow a remote windows login (DC on the firewalled side, workstations on the other side).I'm trying to verify that the zbpf is working, but it doesn't seem to stop anything. I had match icmp added to the class-map, but took it out to test if icmp would fail. It didn't. Basically, I don't think the firewall is working at all. Any thoughts on how I can configure this so that the policies will work between zone-pairs?

We are using the newest release of AD Agent (1.0.0.32.1, built 598). The ASA Firewalls 5520 are having the software release 8.4(3)8 installed.When somebody tries to connect thru the Identity based firewalls from a citrix published desktop environment (PDI) the connection is not possible. Checking the ip-of-user mapping on the firewalls (show user-identity ip-of-user USERNAME) mostly doesn't show the mapping of the USERNAME and the PDI the user is logged in. The user-of-ip mapping of the PDIs IP-address shows mostly other users, which then are used to authenticate the acces thru the firewalls.
What is interesting, that on the AD Agent using "adacfg.exe cache list | find /i "USERNAME"" i can't see the PDIs IP-address neither because it is mapped to another user.Is Citrix Published Desktop environment supported to connect thru Identity based Firewalls? How AD Agent, Domain Controllers and Firewalls are working together? On the firewalls with "show user-identity ad-agent we see, the following:
-Authentication Port: udp/1645
-Accounting Port: udp/1646
-ASA Listening Port: udp/3799
Why Cisco does use 1645 and 1646 and not 1812 and 1813?The Listening Port is used for what purpose? we tried the AD Agent modes full- download and on-demand with the same effect.
I am getting ready to deploy a 3945 ISR to serve as an internet and core router for and remote site. I will be terminating a site-to-site VPN tunnel on it and also configuring a zone based firewall config between my "outside" (internet link) and "inside" (all internal nets). My question is about how to approach securing the WAN interface with the Zone based FW in place?what kind of ACL do I need beyond those allowing and restricting remote access to the outside ip?
