I have been banging at this now for two days and just cannot get Inter-VLAN routing working to work on this router.
Upgraded to latest Cisco firmware (1.0.1.9).Starting with factory default settings, I added 2 VLANS as follows: [code]
BUT....PC2 cannot ping PC3 - NOT WORKINGPC3 cannot ping PC2 - NOT WORKING [code]
Is there any way to granularly allow hosts from one vlan to be able to access another vlan with Inter-VLAN routing DISABLED?Can the use of an ACL override the setting?In general I don't want any traffic between VLAN's but there are 2 hosts on one VLAN that I would want to allow access to a server on another VLAN.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an RVS4000 version 1 with firmware 1.3.3.5. I have two VLAN's setup:
VLAN1 - 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
VLAN10 - 192.168.10.0/255.255.255.0
Ports 1 through 3 are configured for VLAN1 and right now I have one PC connected directly to port 1 and nothing connected to ports 2 or 3. Port 4 is configured for VLAN10 with a managed switch (also configured on VLAN10) connected to it. There are 4 wireless access points connected to the switch.
On the Setup->Advanced Routing page of the RVS4000 I have the Inter-VLAN Routing option set to Disabled. Yet when I connect to one of the wireless access points and receive a 192.168.10.x address, I can ping the PC connected to port 1 which has a 192.168.1.x address.
Also, I would like VLAN10 to not have access to the Management GUI on the RVS4000.
How do I submit an RFE (Request For Enhancement) to the Cisco SBR team to encourage them to implement the missing support for VLAN to VLAN firewall rules that was available in the RVS4000 (See [URL]) and that was supposedly added to a beta release of the RV220W firmware (See [URL])?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI picked up a pair of RV220W's and before I spent loads of time at a remote site, I figured I'd go through some VPN testing at home to make sure I could get it setup properly. What this means is I've plugged the Internet uplink into a switch, then from the switch into both routers & configured them (using unique static IP's for each) from there. For what its worth: While I have some IT experience, I don't have strong networking experience.
I setup several VLAN's on the local RV220W, and the end result is to make it so that an asset at the remote site with an IP in any of the ranges (192.168.121.0/24, 192.168.131.0/24, 192.168.141.0/24 and any future VLANs) can communicate with/access resouces at the local site. Likewise, an asset at the local site with an IP in any of the ranges (.121, .131, .141 + any future VLANs) should be able to reach the remote resources (currently just 192.168.181.0/24, but future VLANs as well).
This evening I tried to focus on the relevant VPN pages of the Administration Guide to get the VPN up. Leaving the defaults I got as far as establishing a link between both sites and it seems that things are working right: From the remote site (.181) I can access the local site (.121, .131, .141); and from the local site I can at least ping resources (a laptop) on the remote site. (Yay!)
However, when I physically connected an asset that had a 192.168.121.X, 192.168.131.X and 192.168.141.X IP addresses to the remote RV220W (which is 192.168.181.0/24), I couldn't see it from the remote or local sites.I assume this is expected. But I'm reaching out to the community to see what other possibilities might be available becuase networking is a weak area for me. I figured it might be something like a Static [or Dynamic] Route but I really am not 100% sure.

I was looking for a small business router that has VPN support and dual WAN support for load balancing. Upon reading reviews, I think RV042/RV042G is a good choice. Now am thinking if it supports intervlan/ router-on-a-stick configuration?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an RV180 VPN router.I try to enable the VPN users with PPTP or QuickVPN but is not working.For PPTP sometimes my windows 7 connects to the router, sometimes doesn't connect with a random error message.When it connects, the windows 7 from outside the lan can see the computers from inside the lan but the computers from inside the lan cannot see the windows7 one. This is random also. When i succed to connect, from that computer, the internet is not working anymore.I tried to set the VPN in the same subnet as lan, i tried with different subnet. Is not working.I updated the last firmware. The same.Restore factory settings couple of times, the same.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have RV180 configured with two VLANs. First VLAN is untagged and second VLAN is tagged. The purpose is two have two subnets, with the second subnet used for guest access. Both VLANs have DHCP server enabled. First VLAN is 192.168.1.0/24 and the second VLAN is 192.168.2.0/24, When I connect a computer with untagged Ethernet interface, it gets an IP address from DHCP server on the first subnet i.e. 192.168.1.100 and it can successfully access Internet. When I connect a computer with tagged Ethernet interface (I am using VLAN ID 10), it gets an IP address from DHCP server on the second VLAN i.e. 192.168.2.100. So far so good. I can successfully ping hosts on the Internet i.e. ping www.google.com. But I cannot access Internet from the web browser. I captured Wireshark trace and here is what I see...
1. TCP SYN. Source IP 192.168.2.100, destination IP A.B.C.D. Ethernet frame has VLAN tag (VLAN ID 10)
2. TCP SYN ACK. Source IP A.B.C.D, destination IP 192.168.2.100. Ethernet frame has VLAN tag (VLAN ID 10)
3. TCP ACK. Source IP 192.168.2.100, destination IP A.B.C.D. Ethernet frame has VLAN tag (VLAN ID 10)
4. TCP Data. Source IP 192.168.2.100, destination IP A.B.C.D. Ethernet frame has VLAN tag (VLAN ID 10)
5. TCP Data. Source IP A.B.C.D, destination IP 192.168.2.100. Frame is untagged
The problem is at #5. Packet came back from the Web Server. RV180 properly NATed it to the local IP address. But it did not add VLAN tag.
I just received my rv220w and perhaps I haven't got enough experience with cisco routers. How can I restrict traffic between different VLANs?
For example: Hosts in one VLAN shall only be allowed to access a web server in another VLAN. All other traffic should be blocked. I've created two VLAN with Inter VLAN Routing enabled. But it seems there's no way to install a firewall rule between VLANs.
I have five static IPs that I would like to fully utilize, by NAT'ing them to internal VLAN subnets.I read that the RV180 can do this, but I am having difficulty in finding a working recipe.I have assigned xxx.xxx.xxx.2 to the RV180 WAN interface.
I have created four additional VLANs 2-5 and assigned to ports 1-4 with subnet interfaces 192.168.2.254, 192.168.3.254, 192.168.4.254. and 192.168.5.254,I have set the default VLAN to untagged on all ports. VLANs 2-5 are set to tagged for their respective port (1-4) and exclude for other ports.I have set DHCP relays to 192.168.1.202 which is my DHCP, DNS, AD services.
I read some months ago that when the first static IP address is assigned to the WAN port, that the VLAN ports will accept tagged packets on their ports and NAT them to the respective successive static IP (sounds a bit like magic to me). Regardless, I read that the RV180 can provide VLAN subnet NAT to up to 5 static IP address. I am not looking for 1 to 1 NAT, not the same. I want to perform NAT on the four additional VLANs in the similar manner that VLAN 1 (default DMZ) IPs are NAT'd to the static WAN address. As in everything outbound on 192.168.1.0 is NAT'd to xxx.xxx.xxx.2
Additionally I would like all DHCP assigned by my DHCP server which I believe is accomplished with the DHCP relay setting on all five VLAN subnets, which point to the DHCP server 192.168.1.202
Lastly, I am trying to configure VPN connectivity into my DMZ network. I have configured a few accounts, enabled for PPTP. I have configured PPTP and am issuing 192.168.1.70-80. The VPN connection seems to work great without the use of Cisco quick VPN. I can see the remote picking up the 192.168.1.71 IP address as the VPN connection is made. From the remote I can ping IP addresses on the DMZ subnet 192.168.1.X How can I configurer the Cisco RV180 PPTP server to provide the DMZ DNS ipaddresses? These addresses need to be 192.168.1.201 and 192.168.1.202
I feel I am almost there, in working out the VLAN subnet to Static NAT. I suspect it will be some routing configurations. The ISP business gateway on the WAN side that I point my router to which is owned by Verizon, is xxx.xxx.xxx.1 I have a /29 making IPs xxx.xxx.xxx.2-6 available to me.
Today i installed an RV180 VPN router as replacement for a netscreen ns-5GT.Exactly the same configuration, everything works, except port forwarding from WAN to a host inside NAT.My ports are open (online port-scanner sees the ports as open), the hosts are accepting connections, but a connection can't be made.Probably a bug in the firmware.

Anybody know of any issues that may arise with STP and inter-vlan routing? I set everything up correctly with trunking, addressing, encapsulations, vlans, but did not touch STP. Unable to ping from any PC to any where.

From the laptop on vlan 33 I can ping the management interfaces (192.168.x.1) for each of the vlans. However, I cannot ping anything on those networks.

I have a Cisco RV180-K9-NA router. I would like to set up 2 separate VLAN assigned to different ports on the router. I will be using LAN port #1 to communicate with the router. The NIC connecting the PC to the router has multiple IP addresses assigned to it so that I can communicate with the separate VPNs (192.168.1.x for the router; 172.16.10.x for VLAN #1 on port 2; and 182.16.10.x for VLAN #2 on port 3). I also need to be able to have the router provide both IPv4 and IPv6 DHCP services for devices on each subnet.

I have two computers and one server connected to the switch (I'll call them PC-1, PC-2, and SRV-1).Without routing, I want both PC-1 and PC-2 to talk to SRV-1 and vice versa, however I don't want PC-1 or PC-2 to talk to each other.I achieve this by making each port a trunk port. I make PC-1 a member of VLAN 2, PC-2 a member of VLAN 3, and SRV-1 a member of VLAN 4. The port that SRV-1 is on I make a tagged member of PC-1 and PC-2 (VLAN 2 and 3 respectively) and make the ports the PCs are on a member of the SRV-1 VLAN (VLAN 4).Everything tests OK (that is, the clients can't talk to each other, however the clients can individually talk to the server)

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a DC topology based on 2 layers, access and aggregation, based on 2 pairs of N5548Ps, both without L3 Daugher Cards. My intent is to use the aggregation N5K pair as L3 inter VLAN layer, so I configured all the VLAN default GWs there. The 2 layers are interconnected via vPC, in a double-sided vPC topology for some N2Ks and some vSwitches. The point is that, despite connecitivity is working fairly ok, for some applications, like file transfer via either FTP or HTTP, between hosts in different VLANs, the performance is too poor. The file transfer starts ok, but after a while it becomes lower and lower. ICMP is working, but I can see some strange random behaviour, like having some packets taking more that 20 ms (sometimes 40 or more), whilst average is 2 ms.
I read through some articles saying that until you don´t have the L3 license (the one coming with L3 Daughter Cards) you can expect some weird behaviour on L3 level. Is that true?. What can I do apart of purchasing L3 Daughter Cards?. Can I enable L3 Basic license at the moment (I don´t need dynamic routing for now).

I have been looking into this for a while and I can't seem to figure out why my 2nd vlan is not able to connect properly to the net.
My switch has 12 ports where my devices connects directly, they are all on Vlan 1 and they all work perfectly. on Port 12 I have a dlink router that is connected to a cable modem. the dlink router has an Ip address of 192.168.0.20
I created a second vlan (vlan2) and enabled dhcp relay on it. then I assigned port 9 on the switch to (vlan2)my laptop which is connected to port 9 seems to get an ip address fine and able to ping only some devices on my network (vlan1) and is not able to go out to the internet. I think it has to do with the routes. [code]
We have two Cisco 5505 firewalls connecting to two ISP's . The two internal LAN's on the firewalls are 192.168.184.0/24 & 192.168.186.0/24. We also have a Cisco C3560x layer3 switch with vlan interfaces 184.3 & 186.3. We have two DGS-3100 Dlink layer 2 switches connecting our users to the Layer 3. Ip routing is enabled for intervlan communication & I can reach the Switch interfaces & firewall gateways from machines on both on the vlans.We have pbr enabled on the 3560 & users only on the .186 network can get to the internet. The switch is running the ipservices license & the sdm template is "desktop routing" .
Users on the .184 cannot access the internet but we can ping the layer3 interface & the firewall gateway. [code]

I have set up 2 vlans in trunk mode on the switch and want vlan2 to manage local traffic and vlan3 to handle the internet.
I have got the 877 connecting to the internet what I dont have, traffic going to vlan2 on the switch from the 877

I am working for a large campus network. The network has more than 70 VLANS in a Layer 3 Switch(Catalyst 4503). Customer wants to stop intervlan routing between all vlans except 2 vlans. How will i do that? I have also a Firewall (ASA 5520) & a Router (2811) in up of the switch. Besides this, I have run HSRP in Layer 3 Switches for redundancy.how will i stop intervlan routing between VLANS except 2, with ACL or any other process has?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to restrict Inter-VLAN routing through L3 switch (cisco 6500) and wanted to know best possible way to do it. I used VACL and achieved success to some extent, but my config is making clients take up to 5-6 mins to authenticate IP address from the DNS (bootps).My VACL config was as follows:
Subnet to restrict is 10.100.15.0 (VLAN 15)
STEP 1: Created extended ACL to allow bootpc/bootps through DNS
ip access-list extended EACL_DNS
permit udp any eq bootps any
permit udp any eq bootpc any
STEP 2: Created standard ACLs to allow only relevant subnet, server VLANs & some IPs from other subnets for printers/scanners etc.

permit 10.100.50.0 0.0.0.255 (server VLANs)

1. I'm still able to PING 10.100.15.2 (the switch virtual interface) from outside the subnet, which I don't intend to do so. Howeve all cients in the subnet have no connectivity from outside the VLAN 15.
2. As mentioned its taking quiet some time to negotiate with the DNS server at system boot time.
you find attached my network architecture with 2 Nexus 7010 on core layer and 2 Nexus 5020 on distribution layer, each one with 1 N2148T fabric extender switch. PC-A1 and PC-A2 are connected to one N2148T, PC-B1 is connected to the other N2148T. Nexus-7000-1 is HSRP Active for all VLANs, Nexus-7000-2 is HSRP standby. PC-A1 and PC-A2 are connected to VLAN A, PC-B1 is connected to VLAN B. PC-A1 and PC-A2 have the same default gateway correspondent to IP HSRP on VLAN A. It happens that PC-A1 is able to ping PC-B1 while PC-A2 is unable to ping PC-B1. If I issue a traceroute from PC-A2 I see Nexus-7000-2’s physical IP address as the first hop even if Nexus-7000-2 is HSRP standby. After the first hop the traceroute is lost. If I shutdown Port-channel 20 on Nexus-5000-2, PC-A2 starts to ping PC-B1.I can’t understand what’s wrong in this architecture.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn my home setup I have an PFsense firewall wich is doing all the routing right now, but right now my net speed is maxing out about 500mbit, i my think it's the pfsense hardware, but its an 1500Mhz C7 VIA with 2Gb ram, I just bought two new switchs, HP-1910-24g and a HP 5500-24G they can do some layer 3 routing, will my speed get a bumb up when the switch is doing some of the vlan routing.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a connection on IP 192.168.1.21, Subnet 255.255.255.0 - this is on the default VLAN1 on the switch. I need to route this to IP 10.0.3.101, Subnet 255.255.252.0 - which is set up on VLAN2 on the switch. I have set the switch to Layer 3 via console.
how I setup this route? I am use the Browser based interface.
I have set up a 2811 with seperate VLANs for phones, and another for computers/printers. Fa0/0 is trunked to a 3560 switch, which has all end devices plugged in. I have enabled the IP Routing commands on both devices, and from advice turned off proxy-arp on the VLANs on the router (unsure if this is causing the issue). The setup is as follows
Computer VLAN = 192.168.20.0
Phone VLAN = 192.168.50.0
Both on the same subnet, along with a router loopback address in the same subnet, at 192.168.10.1.I am having an issue understanding why, but if I try to ping a phone from a PC it times out. Or if I try to type the phone's IP into an internet browser to get the phone's GUI on screen, it fails. This should not be happening as IP routing has been enabled on both, and everything is in the same subnet, correct? PC's can ping other PC's and network printing works fine. Phones register and operate fine, but the two VLAN's will not interoute.Furthermore if I try and ping the router's loopback from the switch, it fails. But the trunk is up and operational because DHCP and devices work within their own VLAN. If I try to ping end devices from the switch, it returns 100%. There seems to be an issue with the router looping the different networks together.
