How i can use both LDAP Authentication and local user database to authenticate the remote vpn clinet in asa 5505?
when i try to do the things either only one method is working both are not working at a time.
i'm trying to configure acs 5.2 to LDAP external idenity store, when LDAP failes ACS 5.2 should use internal indenity store. I configured A sequence to use LDAP 1st then Internal and i shut off the link to the LDAP but ACS will not use internal, AAA Diagnostics keeps telling me that Cannot establish connection with LDAP server and will not use the internal store.

We have added the usernames and password into the 6500 using
username anameduser password astrongpassword or username anameduser secret astrongpassword
We where expecting the commands to be the same as other iOS devices example C3750 we would add.
Line vty 0 4 login local
And this would allow us to use the local user database to authenticate our ssh sessions.
The login local commands are not availbe on the 6500s and we have not found any documentation on how to impliment a local database for this purpose except in a CatOS 6500.
is it possible to validate the ACS Application Accounts against an external repository like LDAP? I have found that LDAP can be used only as Identity store to authenticate users on AAA clients and Network devices.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi am running NX-OS image n5000-uk9.5.1.3.N1.1.bin on the nexus 5020 platform.i have configured authorization with tacacs+ on ACS server version 5.2 with fall back to switch local database.a user test with priv 15 is craeted on ACS server, password test2 everything works fine, until i create the same username on the local database with privilege 0. ( it doesnt matter if the user in local database was created before user in ACS or after ) e.g.: username test password test1 role priv-0 (note passwords are different for users in both databases)
after i create the same user in local database with privilege 0,if i try to connect to the switch with this username test and password defined on ACS, i get only privilege 0 authorization, regardless, that ACS server is up and it should be primary way to authenticate and authorizate the user.
I would like to configure the below setup:
End user client (Cisco Any connect/VPN client) -> ASA 5500 (AAA client) -> ACS server -> External RADIUS database.
Here ACS server would send the authentication requests to External RADIUS server.So, i have added the external user database (RADIUS token server) in ACS under External databases.I have added AAA client in Network configuration (selected authenticate using RADIUS(VPN 3000/ASA/PIX 7.0) from the drop down.
Here how do i make ASA recognize that it has to send the request to ACS server. Normally when you use ACS as RADIUS server you can add an AAA server in ASA and test it.But here we are using an external RADIUS server which has been configured in ACS, so how do i make ASA to send the requests to ACS server?

I've hit Google pretty hard but can't seem to find a simple answer. It seems like RADIUS might be easier for this kind of thing, but I haven't gotten that set up yet and my familiarity with RADIUS is pretty minimal right now.
I want to have a local user in ACS that is permitted to login to routers. I have TACACS with AD already working but cannot get a local user to work. I used to do this in ACS 4.x.I created a user in the internal identity store.I tried configuring a policy to allow this users TACACS authentication multiple ways to no avail. I cannot find a config example doc and cannot figure it out from the user guide as the documention is sorely lacking.

Additionally, the Domain that I am connecting to has Multiple sub domains. All of the users are currently in the Sub domains, but will be moving to root domain later. How should I configure the connection, do I need to connec to each sub domain or can I just connect to the root?
I am trying to configure an ASA 5505 running 8.3 to allow a priv 15 local user to be able to ssh into the device and be placed into priv 15 mode without having to execute the enable command and type the enable password.Right now when you log in as a priv 15 user you still have to execute the enable command and type the enable password to get to priv 15.

I'd like to have one profile/policy where I only encrypt data going to my split-tunnel ACL, and I'd like to have one profile/policy where I encrypt all traffic.
The issue ive been fighting is - it doesn't seem like its possible to associate more than one group policy per user. If it IS possible - can you tell me how I associate both groups to my local account?
i configured pix 525 for easy vpn. About 100 to 200 people will use this service. i dont have much knowledge about radius and tacacas servers. Is local data base enough for extended authentication or should i configure the server for it ?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi am facing an issue while trying to configure LDAP integration on Cisco ASA firewall. The requirement is allow the remote access VPN to specific group defined on AD. When i checked the debug logs " debug ldap 255" , it shows that the authenication is sucessfull with the LDAP server , but the ldap attribute is not getting mapped and because of this reason , the tunnel-group default group policy of "NOACCESS" is getting applied ( vpn simultanous set to zero) that results zero connection.
I confirmed this by changing the value of NOACCESS from zero to one and found that the VPN is getting connected
The name of user account is testvendor that belongs to the group of Test-vendor.
The configuration and debug output is shown below.

When you put in the username and password pair the box comes back as if the authentication has failed. On the ACS I was unable to see any failed authentications so enabled passed authentication reporting and can see the user passing the process. The WLC is running software version 6.0.199.4. On the ACS I have added the extra two options within the TACACS interface configuration and have a ‘role1=all’ against both the user and the group the user is part of so I am confused as to why the user is still denied access.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some problems integrating WLC 4400 with AD using ldap. The the WLC LDAP Server and W LAN for Web Authentication are configured according to [URL].
when I connect to SSID the laptop is given the ip address, then I can see the web-page with lo gin and password - it seems to be OK, but when I enter lo gin and pass it tells me, that it's incorrect.
The attributes of the LDAP server:
Server Address *.*.*.*
Port Number 389
User Base DN ou=ORG,dc=domain,dc=local
User Attribute userPrincipalName
User Object Type Person
the test user is located in AD folder ORG, but this folder also contains a lot of sub trees
There are some questions:
1) Is it obligatory to use value "Authenticated" in the Simple Bind option or it can be Anonymous?
2) Is the Controller capable for searching the users located in User Base DN sub trees?

I'm trying to get my LMS 4.2.3 to do LDAP authentication up against our Windows 2008 R2 Domain.url...
As far as I can see It all has to do with LMS not being able to get a functional connection to the AD that allows for LDAP query's: [code] How does this LDAP thingie work? The documentation states that I must supply a specific user to the Usersroot, since I'm on a 2008 domain, but where do I provide the password for this account, so LMS can log in and do its LDAP queries?
Is LDAP web authentication supported on the AIR-WLC2006-K9? There is a place to add LDAP servers in there but I can't seem to get the web authentication piece of it to work. I saw some idications on forum posts online that made me think that it wasn't supported but I never found a definitive cisco answer. I have it set up and working great on a 5508 wireless controller.

You are able to connect to the SSID and it reidrects you to the login page as it should. When you enter your username and password you get a message that "the username and password combination you have entered is invalid." Based on the following log it looks like the LDAP bind is the issue.

I have two WLC5508 controllers configured with multiple SSIDs and a VLAN associated to each of them. Now I am deploying a pilot for Web-Authentication and everything seems to be fine except for the LDAP authentication part. I have done all the steps for enabling anonymous bind on Active Directory (AD) and the configuration on the controller is properly in place. I know the configuration is working fine because I have isolated the problem to some sort of routing or communication problem:
Controller Interfaces:
Management Interface - Vlan 1, (X.X.148.99)
Student Interface - Vlan 2 (X.X.132.99)
Mobile Devices interface - Vlan 28
Web authentication interface - Vlan 31
AD is on Vlan 2 (Student Interface range)Each interface has its own IP in a different IP range.
If there is an IP address configured on the Vlan2 interface, LDAP wont work. If there isnt an IP address on the Vlan 2 Interface LDAP works!So you may think I just should not configure an IP for that particular Vlan, but if do this, the controller wont allow to associate any WLAN to that particular Vlan interface and unfortunately I am using it.
I think the Controller uses the Management interface to send traffic to the LDAP server and it gets confused of getting a reply from a device which belongs to the Vlan 2 Interface IP range (AD is on Vlan 2).
I know the controller is a Layer 2 device, so I am not sure why it should need an IP address to be configured for each interface, I read it is used just for roaming purposes but it seems to be somehow related to LDAP communication process as well.
The strange thing is that I can access the management interface IP from the Vlan 2 range and there is not problem at all.
PD: Controller 5508, Software version: 7.0.230.0

We have implemented a local MAC address filter database on a WLC 4402. Right now, management access is restricted to a select few administrators. We would like to extend the ability of our PC services group to add MAC entries to this database via a script (avoiding the necessity to create Read/Write management user accounts). Is this possible? Is there a better way to accomplish this objective ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded the firmware to 2.0.2.01-tm (from 2.0.0.19-tm). Now I noticed the RV082's local DNS server ("DNS Local Database" feature) does not work any more. Any URL-IPaddr combo I used to put in there was resolved prior to sending a request to the WAN's primary/secondary DNS server. It isn't a PC problem. I tested on different real and virtual machines, windows and Linux. Is there new "enable" switch somwhere?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI work at a campus and use the WCS to control access to my network for staff and only internet access for students. The Staff are assigned Username/password thru active directory and the student uses another SSID with only WPA --a password for all. I was tasked with adding more securing for students -- by adding a user/password. I do not want them connecting to my Active Directory for two reason--security risk and I have too many to input (over 1000). So, I wanted to use our internal database to validate users. I create a webpage with "WebAuth" that opens my logon page from my site and validates the login fields against the database. It works and this allows the user to navigate thru my website but not outside the site. If they try an outside url it redirect them to my logon script. I now understand why, so I'm looking for code I can add to my logon page that would allow me to redirect me to the controller's (once users are authenticated by my database) to call the WCS controller so I can enter a preset username/password so the policy management file would allow them access. I presently use "External" and don't know if "Custom" would work. Finding a way in using a database instead of adding one person at a time?
