Cisco VPN :: ASA5500 - User Authentication ACS By Adding External RADIUS Database

Feb 28, 2012

I would like to configure the below setup:

End user client (Cisco Any connect/VPN client) -> ASA 5500 (AAA client) -> ACS server -> External RADIUS database.

Here ACS server would send the authentication requests to External RADIUS server. So, i have added the external user database (RADIUS token server) in ACS under External databases.I have added AAA client in Network configuration (selected authenticate using RADIUS(VPN 3000/ASA/PIX 7.0) from the drop down.

Here how do i make ASA recognize that it has to send the request to ACS server. Normally when you use ACS as RADIUS server you can add an AAA server in ASA and test it.But here we are using an external RADIUS server which has been configured in ACS, so how do i make ASA to send the requests to ACS server?

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ASA5500 / ACS 5.1 Radius For VPN And Admin?

Feb 27, 2011

I am trying to configure ACS 5.1 to authenticate SSL VPNs on an ASA5500 and aslo to provide admin access to the ASA5500 both via radius.I want to authenticate the VPN against a SeureID appliance and the admin login against a different database (using internal for testing but will use LDAP in the end).I cant seem to get the ACS to distinguish between the two authentication types. If I create a rule that says match protocol radius I can point that at either database but if I try saying match radius and service type 5 it doesnt match the VPN and falls through to the default authentication service. I have also tried matching service type 6 for admin and that doesnt seem to work either. In the end what I want to acheive is to authenticate teh ASA5500 VPN against the SecureID appliance and then admin access to all devices on teh newtork (a mixture of Cisco, F5 and Juniper) to active directory via LDAP where if the user is a member of the "admin" group they get access.I was intending to use specific devices for the ASA5500s (there aretwo) and then creat a device group based on IP address range for everything else.

Cisco VPN :: ASA5500 Static Address For Vpn User

Apr 10, 2011

I am trying to configure ASA to assign same static ip address to certain user(User1) every time when he connect to network via AnyConnect client. We have Windows AD and use LDAP AAA server for authentication of  VPN Remote Access users. I found in document "Cisco ASA 5500 Series Configuration Guide using the CLI, 8.2" in section "Configuring an External Server for Security Appliance User Authorization" explanation and configured ASA and User Properties in AD on exectly same way:First, I assigned static ip address in properties menu(dial in section) of User1 in Active Directory. Then I created ldap attribute map where I mapped msRADIUSFrameIPAddressattribute to IETF-Radius-Framed-IP-Address attribute. At the end I applied this ldap attribute map to AAA server group LDAP.

Although I set this up, whenever I connect using User1 credentials from AD I still get ip address from vpn pool instead static ip address that I configured. In output of debug ldap 255 command I found line "msRADIUSFramedIPAddress: value = -1062718956" but not any line that prove mapping above mentioned attributes. It seems like mapping is not working. All AnyConnect users get parameters from defined internal group policy on ASA,including addresses form pool, dns server etc. I want that User1 get static ip address and inherit all other parameters from group policy.

Cisco WAN :: WRVS4400N - External Web Server Can't Connect To Internal SQL Database

Jul 4, 2011

I have a hosted web server that has a website on it that needs to connect back to a database within our internal network. We have a Cisco WRVS4400N Wireless Router with 2 VLANS. VLAN 1 goes to a Watchguard Firebox which is connected to our internal network. VLAN 2 goues to our classroom network.

Our database is on VLAN 1. I have opened port 1433 on the Watchguard to allow SQL traffic from our Web Server. I can telnet from my workstation on VLAN 1 to the Web Server over port 1433, so I know the Web Server is not blocking anything. When I try to telnet from the Web Server to our Public IP address over port 1433, it fails.

I believe I have the firewall on the Cisco WRVS4400N off, so it shouldn't be blocking any traffic, but for the life of me I can't get this to work. I have been working on this for two days, and I NEED it to work. This was working up until last week, then it quit working. I am the only person making changes to our network, and there were no changes made during that time.

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 4.2.1 Authentication And Database Replication?

Mar 27, 2011

Firstly the ACS 4.2.1 for Windows database replication does any one have and documentation on the processes required?Secondly I have a single system installed which is providing TACACS authentication for management access to a Cisco 5508 WLC, the controller prompts with a login box on connection to the web interface. When you put in the username and password pair the box comes back as if the authentication has failed. On the ACS I was unable to see any failed authentications so enabled passed authentication reporting and can see the user passing the process. The WLC is running software version 6.0.199.4. On the ACS I have added the extra two options within the TACACS interface configuration and have a ‘role1=all’ against both the user and the group the user is part of so I am confused as to why the user is still denied access.

We where expecting the commands to be the same as other iOS devices example C3750 we would add.

Line vty 0 4  login local

And this would allow us to use the local user database to authenticate our ssh sessions.

The login local commands are not availbe on the 6500s and we have not found any documentation on how to impliment a local database for this purpose except in a CatOS 6500.

Cisco Wireless :: WCS 5508 Accessing Users From User Site Database

Jan 18, 2013

I work at a campus and use the WCS to control access to my network for staff and only internet access for students.  The Staff are assigned Username/password thru active directory and the student uses another SSID with only WPA --a password for all.  I was tasked with adding more securing for students -- by adding a user/password.  I do not want them connecting to my Active Directory for two reason--security risk and I have too many to input (over 1000).  So, I wanted to use our internal database to validate users.  I create a webpage with "WebAuth" that opens my logon page from my site and validates the login fields against the database.  It works and this allows the user to navigate thru my website but not outside the site. If they try an outside url it redirect them to my logon script.  I now understand why, so I'm looking for code I can add to my logon page that would allow me to redirect me to the controller's (once users are authenticated by my database) to call the WCS controller so I can enter a preset username/password so the policy management file would allow them access.  I presently use "External" and don't know if "Custom" would work. Finding a way in using a database instead of adding one person at a time?

AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 4.2 - Send RADIUS To An External Site?

Jan 16, 2012

I've got a pair of Cisco ACS 4.2 servers running on our corporate LAN. Currently they are doing TACACS+ for the network gear, and wireless authentications for internal users.

We have contracted with an external web site for an application - They can run RADIUS from their site to our LAN for the user authentications. How can I best do this?

1. NAT the traffic on my ASA firewalls to the internal servers, send the RADIUS traffic to/from the external site?

2. Is this secure?

3. Should I have a RADIUS server in the DMZ instead?

4. Any issues with doing this on ACS 4.2?

Cisco :: Can't Do Radius Authentication Via WLC 4400

Jan 3, 2013

I am configuring an old WLC4400 with V4.2.130.0. I added a new sub-interface for VLAN 50 with proper IP for the subnet and then add the Radius server(Windows server 2008 with NPS) onto WLC4400. I then created new WLAN with WPA+WPA2 Encryption and 802.1x key management and selected the Radius server under AAA for authentication.

Configured the test XP with WPA-Enterprise and PEAP as EAP method. I purposely configured computer to prompt for username and password.

When I try to connect, I did get prompt for username and password. However after that nothing happens. It seems like laptop just keep trying to authenticate.

I checked windows event log and do not see anything under NPS. I know this windows server NPS setup works as it is also the authentication server for our remotevpn.

is there any special option I need to turn on for WLC in order for Radius authentication work? Or is there any known bug with V4.2.130.
