View 2 Replies View RelatedThe 5508 is running code 7.0.116.0. I have created a group interface for 3 subnets and assigned the group to the WLAN. Clients are getting IP addresses in a round robin fashion. The issue or downside to this is if the lease has not expired before the next time the station connects to the WLAN it consumes an address on another subnet instead of grabbing the unexpired lease IP address on it's previous VLAN. It seems that the WLC determines the VLAN in the interface group before the DHCP request from the client in case the client already received a DHCP address that has not expired. This can be problematic since we have seen some iPhones requesting an address every 20 minutes thus consuming an address on every subnet in the interface group. Other than setting a lease time extremely low what can be done to address this?

However,I want this same ssid to be brodcasted to a remote site using HREAP access point but with different dhcp scope 10.102.0.0/16.
I have tried creating another interface for the remote site with a different dhcp scope(10.102.0.0) but the controller wont allow me create another wlan with same ssid that existed before to apply the new interface created for.
i have a SG300-52 Switch, route mode is enabled, and it is using the latest IOS.I have created 4 Vlans in this switch, till this point its OK, but once i try to give ip addres to the created Vlan either from the GUI or CLI the switch is not responding. i have to go and manually reset the switch using a pin.
View 8 Replies View Related i was trying to set up a new SG300-52 L3 switch for switching and Vlan. The problem is that the vlans on this switch cannot get their DNS resolved. Probably a stupid thing i can't get to see, but i think it is a simple solution given switchin is not my expertise.So my setup:
- ISP Wan router: LAN ip 10.0.0.1, DMZ: 10.0.0.2 -> i have to use this router for ISP support. But it suckes, that's why we use own router for firewall, port forwarding etc.
- Nice Router: WAN: 10.0.0.2, LAN: 192.168.1.1
- SG300 L3 switch
This works. I can ping switch, nice router, ISP router and google's ip from VLAN 5.But i cannot ping google using host name. From within SG300 i can. So it has something to do with SG300 not doing DNS right.My Client on VLAN 5 has ip 10.1.1.5 / 24, default gateway and dns pointing to switch: 10.1.1.1.I have put an entry in DNS servers in SG300: 192.168.1.1 active (pointing to Nice router). On client leave default gateway pointing to switch. But put DNS server : 192.168.1.1
I am having some issues with getting DHCP Relay to fuction properly over our SG300-20 Switch.Out current layout is as follows. Hanging off the SG300-20 are a pair of Clustered Checkpoint Gateways with VLAN'ed interfaces in Both of our 2 VLANs, a 3COM 4200G In VLAN1 which has the DHCP server (And all the other Servers) connected to it, and a Pair of HP Procurve 2520's Stacked in VLAN 2 to provide PoE for our Phones/connectivity for our PCs.The problem is I cannot get the DHCP Relay to fuction from VLAN 1 to VLAN 2. If I assign an address in VLAN 2 manually to a device connected to the Procurves, everything works fine. I am able to reach both VLAN 1 and VLAN 2, but DHCP aquisition fails even if the device is connected directly to a port assigned to VLAN 2 on the SG300. The SG300 is running at Layer 3 currently also.

I am using Windows 2011 SBS and Windows 7 clients.My server has a DHCP range of 192.x.x.150 to 192.x.x.199 and all other I.P. addresses are static. On a workstation located at I.P. 192.x.x.13 I am seeing an address conflict.When I perform an "nbtstat -a 192.x.x.13" command from the server I am given the logical computer name of a staff members personal laptop.Investigation of the laptop reveals that it is set to DHCP, and clearly the address of 192.x.x.13 is outside of my servers DHCP scope, so this I.P.should never be assigned, let alone in duplicate.I Google this topic before posting, and it was suggested that IPv6 could be having an adverse affect. I determined this because I performed a ping on the laptop and only got a MAC address back rather than an I.P. address.However after unticking IPv6, and rebooting, the laptop is still causing havoc.I can set a static I.P. address on the laptop, however this is not ideal.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've created a tonne of dhcp scopes on my routers before never had any issues, however this one will not hand out any addresses at all, i even give the router a reload to see if any magic happened but nothing, ive ended having to put a temp server in with just dhcp installed until i get the router diong what it should my config below, its something simple i havent seen, as ive compared it to plenty of my working DHCP configs and seen nothing.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a ASA5505 that i have running asdm 6.4 on it and have tried setting up some DHCP scopes for the interfaces.I have the security plus key.I set up 4 interfaces all with different subnets and all with different DHCP being doled out by the firewall for the time being.Anyway, 3 of the 4 work.I have tried to change interfaces wondering if there was an issue with that phy device.I tried enableing the subnet that would not work first and it didnt matter still would not issue dhcp.the other 3 work fine.Is there a limitation to the amount of scopes that will issue dhcp for an asa5505 ?

If any computer in VLAN 120 or 130 configured with manual IP address, then all works fine. It can reach internal servers and the internet without problem.If the IP address is assigned automatically then any computer in VLAN 120 or 130 are obtaining IP address (strangely!) from VLAN 100. Because switch ports that connected to the computer belongs to VLAN 120 or 130, the computer cannot reach internal servers and the internet with ip address from VLAN 100 . All SVI interfaces for VLAN 100, 120 and 130 have ip helper-address option defined pointing to the DHCP server. No DHCP snooping enabled on all switches at this point. DHCP server have three scopes for the three different VLANs.

There are currently three VLANs configured, one for data and one for voice (144 and 244 respectively) and one for UCM servers (200), with corresponding subnets of 10.44.32.0 /19, 10.44.0.0 /19 and 10.44.100.0 /24.
The current DHCP scope configurations are as follows:

My question is will the addition of this scope in the manner presented cause any problems with PCs or IP phones outside the targeted recepents receiving the wrong IP information from this scope?
I plan to identify the users that should be members of this VLAN 444 and change the switchport mode access configuration on the corresponding switch ports from VLAN 144 to VLAN 444. The voice VLAN 244 will remain the same.
I recently set up a small photography business and am trying to get a Cisco 877 and Cisco SG300-10 switch to talk to each other.
What I want is for the Cisco 877 to handle the internet and the SG300-10 to handle the local network,
I have set up 2 vlans in trunk mode on the switch and want vlan2 to manage local traffic and vlan3 to handle the internet.
I have got the 877 connecting to the internet what I dont have, traffic going to vlan2 on the switch from the 877
Look at the running configs for the switch and the router and tell me how to get the vlan on the router to pass traffic to the switch. In a nutshell I am inserting the internet into the switch but am not sure how to progress. I have the c870-advipservicesk9 image file on the router.

We connected 4 wireless access points (AP541N-E-K9) to an SG300-10P switch.We want to be sure that no wireless clients can alter settings to the network by connecting to any of the networking devices. We also want that no wireless devices (except a few) can connect to computers that are on the wired network. I'm new to configuring networking devices so how to set up the switch for this.We already added all the MAC-adresses of all the wireless devices (that are allowed to use the wireless network) to the access points.

I also have an OpenWRT flashed router that can tag VLANs.My problem right now is that my default VLAN is 1, my router is doing DHCP in VLAN 1, and I want all my network equipment to be on VLAN 1, but my SG200, when LAGed to the SG300, will not get an IP.My SG300 is pulling an IP just fine from my router DHCP pool. When I connect the SG200 directly using either 1UP port settings or 1TP port settings, I get an IP just fine. When I LAG my connection (ports 1-3 on both) I get no DHCP information sent through the LAG to either the SG200, nor to any client devices that are set for DHCP.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using a couple cisco sg300 28P switches along with a sonciwall firewall/router. The sonicwall was already in place and working so they didnt want to replace it. I understand how to configure the vlan on the sonicwall, but could use some info on the cisco. I would basically like to create 3 vlans, 1 default for management, 2 for pc's on lan, and 3 for the cisco spa504g phones/'voip. Would i just go into the vlan managment, configure the 2 new vlans and give them two id's? These offices have one network drop, so the phones and pc's will be sharing the switch ports, however the phones have a setting to configure the vlan id so they know which one theyre on. Is there anything i need to do after that? I want to make sure that vlan 3 has the highest priority becuase its voice, is there some qos configurations i need to make on that switch as well? Also, the port that links the two cisco swtiches together, does that need to be set as "trunk" port? I understand what vlans are, but its just the first time ive run into these cisco models. .

Using the Internet Explorer interface connection I have created an additional VLAN (ID 2) on Port 10 with the intention of using this as the connection to the client ( I assume there will be further settings required to route the PLC connection to this port) but every time I try to assign the IP and Subnet values and click "APPLY" the changes are not made and the connection appears to hang leading me to reboot the switch.I have connected to the switch via console and changed the mode to Layer 3. I also assume that it is OK for the three pieces of equipment to remain on the default VLAN. How I should setup this VLAN and ultimately achieve my goal.

It's working fine, but the problem is that it isn't possible to add all the Multicast Groups to the Multicast VLAN because each TV channel use other groups. For me it's only to handle if I can use wildcards to add a specific range of multicast traffic to the Multicast TV VLAN. Is that possible with that Switch?

vlan10: LAN
vlan20: Voice
vlan30: Guest
vlan50: Servers
vlan100: Lab1

Since it's a small business and lot of people moving around, doing test, etc.... most port are tag with all vlan. Our Wireless AP have multiple SSID one with vlan10 and one with vlan30 for guest.
Is there any way without the "Guest vlan" feature that i could have with my equipment any equipment without a vlan configuration be set on vlan30 ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing a sg300-52 switch I created two VLANs that share a port for access to the internet. All original devices added to the VLANs are functioning correctly so I have to beleive the VLANs are set up correctly. I added a new desktop and an old laptop to the VLAN and neither worked. I was able to get the desktop to work by enabling VLAN tagging in the network adapter. The laptop is 5 years old and it does not have any such setting in network adapter. There are 2 other devices that share the same port with the laptop and they both function properly. My conclusion is that the laptop does not support VLAN tagging. Is there someway to configure the switch to account for this?
