I have Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, which I bought 3.5 years back. The laptop used to work fine before. I just shifted home 1.5 month back. Previously I used to have the wireless router always close to my laptop, so I never realized this issue. Now the wireless router (802.11n) for Fibre optics internet is in the ground floor and my studio is on 2nd floor. In my office latop, which is a new one, I get 3 out of 5 signal bars and get 34-56 mbps signal. But my Dell laptop does not get any signal, but when it is closer to the router it works fine.
if I buy an USB network Adapter device which is n series and supports upto 300mbps signal, then will it improve the situation? If yes, then which devices are preferred and how can I know whether that new device is compatible with my laptop settings (as this is a bit old one) or not? If not, then how can I improve the wireless reception? I have tried with booster etc already. I have also updated the network adapter drivers.the wireless card I have is: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN minicard?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. It will not connect wireless to my Belkin N150. It use to, then one day it quit. I have an HP laptop and it connects wireless just fine. So I don't think it is the router. I have tried to reinstall the router. And the PC tells me there is a network available, but it will not connect. My question is... Can the wifi card be bad? Is there a key combination that might have been put in by accident?

The signal strength I get is very low, whereas people in the same location get good strength with other laptops like Sony etc.Is there any way of improving the signal strength without disturbing the router/modem, like some software/ hardware changes in the Laptop. Dell havent answered yet.

After reformat, the network will not detect wireless modem after I think I have downloaded all pertinent drivers. In Device Manager, under Other Devices, The Network Controller shows an exclamation mark that under Device Status says, "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." I have turned on the button on the left of the laptop and still missing something.Prior to the reformat everything was working well. I had the Blue Screen of death andthat's the reason for the reformat.

"This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured" and it gives me the option to "Install wireless networking hardware, and verify that the correct drivers are loaded" . Where can I get this wireless networking hardware?, is it on a disk that came with the laptop or do I have to download it using another computer and manually install it on my laptop. Although the file implies that some 1395 cards may have 1500/1505 draft 802.11n capabilities. When looking at the driver details, it does not have any options or settings for 802.11n. Confusing. Since my computer is a number of years old, it may be that the wifi card is pre-cards with the 1500/1505 draft 802.11n capability.
My question is there an update driver for the 1395 mini-card that would allow the card to access my 802.11n router?
Is there a newer or compatible wifi card for the Inspirion 1525 (dell or otherwise) that can replace the 1395 mini-card so that I take advantage of my 802.11n router (Netgear N600 Dual Band Router) higher speed capabilities?
Recently, I re-installed windows XP on a newly formatted hard drive. I tried to use the network setup wizard to create an internet connection via a cable plugged into back of pc but the wizard says that it can not detect network hardware. I believe the network card is built into the Motherboard. I tried to isntall drivers from the Dell Cd that came with the system but it fails to detect a modem. My system is a Dell dimension 5150?

afterwards i installed ALL available and latest drivers from dell or/and intel regarding this wifi adapter. the result is that the wireless adapter is again shown in the hardware manager and also in the system information of win7 which is great.BUT, somehow the win7 wifi network software/tools does still not recognize the adapter by the means of unplugging the lan cable i just see the wifi symbol with a red x. also opening the network and sharing console does not show the adapter to me although when clicking on "configure wifi networks" and "adapter properties" it is there and active "ready to use". additionally, the intel wireless diagnosis tool tells me that the adapter must have been deactivated or deinstalled. well, the tool is partially right, but the adapter was reinstalled and shows up in the hardware manager. somehow it missed that point ?
When i turn the laptop on at first it seems normal and it says i have an internet connection, but when i try to go on the internet it just puts up a blank white screen. It then tries to load a webpage and either freezes completely and the whole screen goes black or times out after about 10 minutes and says:

Following a new HDD & install of the OS my Dell 1525 is not showing wifi or bluetooth and is not letting me connect via wireless. I have tried installing drivers but nothing. I can only connect via ethernet. I also tried removing the card and replacing it to ensure it was in correctly but still nothing. The set up menu on boot shows wireless card present and all enabled to factory defaults.

The instructions are very simple, handy for me as I am not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to computers.So I've never used my wi-fi before. I know there is a button on the right hand side I need to slide forward to turn the wi-fi on. When I do this the computer makes a 'ping' noise, I assume it is acknowleding the Wi-fi is on? However, the button doesn't stay forward it sits in the middle. The wi-fi light doesn't appear to change either.

It came with an absolute ton of bloatware and no matter how hard I try it seems to slow start up times and effect general performance. I thought I would download and reinstall an entirely clean version of Windows 7.I could not for the life of me get wifi to work afterwards. There are a load of drivers for wifi on the HP support website and I tried them all, not knowing which one was correct. No dice. The wifi card does not seem to show on device manager. It's like the system does not know the card is installed.There are some 'unknown device' errors on device manger so I assume that has something to do with it. The wifi card does show on bios, and after rolling back to the old bloatware system image, wifi is now back, so definately not a hardware problem.

When the install starts, it never goes beyond 'Setup is searching for installed components.' On the Drivers page it shows that the hardware is installled.
Device Manager, Hardware shows yellow for Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI Modem, PCI Simple Communications Controller, which indicates to me I don't have the drivers yet.
Can't stop it, except via the Windows Task Manager. When I do that I get a dialog box Titled 'Dell Wireless WLAN Installer, An error occurred while launching the setup. The remote procedure call failed.

After formatting and reinstalling my Windows 7 64-bit OS on my hard drive, it can't connect to the internet. It says the Network Adapter is not found, so I plugged in my old hard drive and went on the internet to download the proper driver install for my network adapter, but there's one problem.I don't have an extra sata cable to connect them both at the same time so I can transfer the driver software from one hard drive to the other, and since the internet isn't working on the one I need to install the driver on, uploading it to a website obviously isn't an option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently reinstalled XP SP2 and everything seems to work fine except I cannot connect to the internet. Device Manager says no drivers installed. So I came here, put in my service tag, and got 4 recommendations. I DL'd them all to a CD, then installed on my desktop (well, when I opened them, they installed themselves). Device manager does not recognize the driver I installed. I only had one driver to DL - the other recommendations were a diagnostics utility, a modem utility, & the last was the Netwaiting thing. The driver recommended was Conexant D850 56K V.9X PCI DF Modem ULD, v.Drv32_7.70.0.0, A03. Now that's recognized as a modem, but it does not allow me to connect. I thought that was only recommended because Conexant makes chipset drivers compatible with my modem.

I have a brand new ethernet cable and have tried others and for some reason my internet always loses connection after a few minutes. It works as soon as I unplug the ethernet cable from my laptop and plug it back in, but then fails again shortly after.When I try diagnose and repair, it says I need to reset the network adapter, and when I click on that option it starts working again for a few minutes but loses connection shortly after.
