Dell :: Cannot Enable Wireless Network Connection On Inspiron N4110
Dec 19, 2012
I cannot enable the wireless network connection. Here's what I have: In Network Connections I have two network connections, the Local Area Connection (wired ethernet), and this works fine without a problem, and I have the Wireless Netwok Connection. The Wireless Network Connection is greyed out and says that it is "Disabled". When I right click on it and click on Enable a small window pops up and say "Enabling", then is says "Enabled", but the Wireless Network Connection is still greyed out and says "Disabled".
1. When I click on the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility I get the message: "There are currently no wireless adapters available and enabled. Please enable any available wireless adapters before accessing this configuration utility".
2. In the Device Manager the Dell Wireless 1701 802.11b/g/n can be found under Network adapters. There is neither a red or yellow icon next to it. When I click on properties for this I am told that this device is working properly.
My OS is windows 7 32 bit and my laptop is dell inspiron N4110.

The laptop is about a month old. It all the sudden started doing this, I believe right after I uninstalled an ask.com toolbar that was installed on my Google Chrome browser by another program.
I set my power plan to high performance, and I configured the power management on my adapter so it wouldn't turn off in order to save power, but this did not fix the problem. My adapter does not have Antenna Diversity.
Here is my data from ipconfig/all:

Dell Inspiron laptop n4110-6 gb RAM- 575 gb HD- intel i-5 processor 1333mhz. Win 7 -64 bit
everything was fine until yesterday...started up laptop and noticed the network connection icon in my task bar hd the "red-x" through it...i knew something was up cuz i had ethernet hardline in to my machine. after I had inspected every possible home netwrok issue...i noticed it was more pc related.now i go to my device manager to check my network adapters..... there are NONE listed...i go to "View" to find that unhide all devices and note there are only wireless drivers in this device and NOT the typical "realtek-8111E" controller that SHOULD be listed.
So far...i have done these steps
1) ensured BIOS (my cmos is phoenix tianos build) lan settings are correct- done
2) Removed RAM from slots
3) Removed Cmos Battery
4) waited for 15 minutes.it is still not working ....a i even tried a clean install of win 7 and that doesnt work?

I have a Dell inspiron N4110 laptop with Windows 7 professional installed on it. I have bought a new bluetooth headset, but my system couldn't recognize it while I am trying to add it using "Add a device" utility. I think bluetooth driver is missing in my system. I checked the drivers CD, but couldn't decide which one I should install because there are lot of BTS (bluetooth) drivers are listed.
where I can download bluetooth driver online or which one I should install from the drivers CD?

I have an Inspiron 1012 mini. A week ago, it worked fine and I was able to connect to the internet. Now I can't get it to enable a wireless connection. Using device manager, I can see that Radio is enabled. However, when I use the WLAN utility, the check box for enable/disable is unchecked and grayed out so that I cannot change it. Per suggestions from other forums, I have tried fn/F2, but nothing happens. Is this a hardware problem with my wireless card, or is there something I am missing?

I have had the Dell Inspiron N4110 for about 2 months now, and up until about a week ago I had no problems, but now I can only connect to the internet for short periods of time. I have restored my computer to factory new, re-installed windows, turned of the power management in the driver, uninstalled and re-installed driver, and just about everything else I can think of but I keep losing my internet. Also I have 2 other laptops, 2 xboxes, a desktop, and a few smartphones that all connect just fine. Here's my ipconfig /all.

I have a 5 month old Dell Inspiron 1564 with a Dell WLAN 1397 Wireless card. I was having some trouble connecting to my wireless router, and as a last attempt to get it working, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for my wireless card, using a fresh download of the latest version from Dell's support site.
The driver seems to install fine, and when I look at the wireless card in Device Manager, it's enabled, but in "Control PanelNetwork and InternetNetwork Connections" (which can be accessed through the Network and Sharing Center), it is grayed out and says Disabled.
When I click enable in there, a small window pops us saying "Enabling", then after a few seconds, it says "Enabled" then disappears. However, the adapter stays disabled in N/W & Sharing center, and isn't picked up by Windows.
I've tried reinstalling the driver through Dell's driver installer, as well as through Windows' automated driver search, and neither works. I also tried to do a System Restore, but that is not working (can't complete on any of the restore points).
I also spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Dell support and their final advice was format and reinstall Windows.
More details:
- I am running Win 7 Pro.
- Wired networking and internet connection works fine
- I have Zone Alarm and Avast Anti virus, and I've tried disabling both to no avail

here about it : [URL]
To reinstate here. It is a refurbished notebook. I don't know if that has anything to do with my problem. But there is no wireless on/off switch. And pressing FN and F2 at the same time is not enabling my wireless adapter. Is there any way to enable it? Or could I have a faulty wireless adapter?

I have upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8 recently at my new Dell PC.I have upgraded my PC Drivers and get the latest Win8 update on line.My ISP has came up with a latest version of 4G Connection Manager (software) to allow me to login to the Wireless Network.I am using a small pen like modem called Dongle.
The performance of the new Connection Manager is uncertain, sometime I can logon to the network easily after starting, but sometime I don't.The searching for the network only last for 3 seconds and could not proceed further to detect and connect to the network. The present sucessful rate is about 50%.
Here are portion of the event log for the device (Dongle)
INFO) Sat Nov 17 02:24:23 2012:Cconnection_manager_uiDlg::OnInitDialog, OS details: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3(INFO) Sat Nov 17 02:24:23 2012:Cconnection_manager_uiDlg::getCMScreenPosition(), Last Close Time = 202687(INFO) Sat Nov 17 02:24:23 2012:Cconnection_manager_uiDlg::OnInitDialog(),Value of isGCTLoggingValFound 1 and value of GCTLogging parameter in nwsetting.txt is 0(INFO) Sat Nov 17 02:24:23

May I know if there is any quick fix for this problem such as resetting the control panel / device manager etc to get 100% successful connectivity as in Win 7 PC?

I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Netbook, when I'm trying to connect to a wireless network I get the message 'Acquring Network Address'. I can connect fine using a wired connection, but using the Wirless 1397 WLAN Mini card it won't connect.
I tried to log a call with Dell as the machine is only 2 months old and someone remotely connected and said it was a software fault not hardware and they would charge me to resolve the issue. I found that hard to swallow so thought I would try here.

We have a new Dell Inspiron15R with Windows 7 installed. Our internet provider requires a User ID and password and therefore requires a redirect to their website.
I get a Windows security message recommending I do not allow the redirect (which I can choose and force the redirect). My question is - Is there a setting I can modify to allow this redirect to eliminate the security warning? Our old laptop ran on XP and redirected without any security warning.

I have an Inspiron 1520 which, approximately once per day, is losing the network connection. Basically I can be right in the middle of something then all of a sudden anything internet related (eg browser, email, skype, other software) stops working, and then a few seconds later the little globe disappears from my network icon at the bottom of my screen.
The only way to get my connection back is to reboot my computer. I've tried the "repair connection" tool, but that doesn't work. I've tried waiting, but that is futile (and impractical)
This happens whether I am directly attached to the router via cable, or I am going through wireless.
Other devices are unaffected at the time. It is only my computer that loses the connection. The two phones, two other laptops, desktop and tablet all remain connected. (Hmmm - I seem to have far too many devices!)
Do I have a failing part? Or is this maybe a software issue? I'm thinking perhaps it is software because after a reboot everything returns to normal and the problem tends to go away for 24 hours or so.

I have a Inspiron N5010 and I am having issues getting a consistent network connection. This is occurring over Wireless and Ethernet. I have tried new drivers for both the wireless and the LAN devices. We have tried this over a direct wall jack(known good) and a VOIP phone(also known good jack). We are having issues with SSL and IPSEC VPN as well but im not certain they are completely related as they VPN is at his home and the network issues are at the office.

A month after i had this laptop(bought new) its started have insanely slow connection times after booting up. The little blue circle starts to twirl meaning its searching for a wireless network. It then freezes and takes about 1 min- 5min to actually come back to normal and connect to a network. If i hibernate or standby there is no such problem, only after a fresh reboot. For this reason i usually never turn off my laptop, thus avoiding a lot network connection wait.

I have dell inspiron n4110, my warranty got expired recently. Suddenly I am getting blue screen and automatically re install again and windows is not coming up again, I tried all the options like restore etc. but finally I have seen a post in this forum and filled up the form to get Reinstallation CDs from Dell. I did the re install from dell supplied CDs its windows 7 even my earlier os also the same. I have Windows 7 on Dell N4110. I am unable to connect to my netgear router wirelessly. If i restart the router, it may work for some time but then again gets disconnected. However, i can connect to it through wired connection. Others in my apartment can connect to the router. They dont have windows 7 (they use vista, ubuntu). Its working fine for them. I have tried many things like updating the router, disabling firewall, changing wireless security settings, updating windows but none of them seem to work. My friend who has the same laptop also cant connect when I cant. It happens simultaneously. As soon as my connection is disconnected, his also disconnects.

BTW, I do have MS Security Essentials running on the laptop and the Windows Firewall is on - the desktop is set up the same way.
When I try to set up a HomeGroup I get an error message that says "Can't set up a HomeGroup on this computer".

My pc is connected to the ethernet chord at home. I can go anywhere else and connect with a wireless connection but I can't in my own house. Every time I try I get an error the the network adapter isn't found. The trouble shooter can't even fix it. Everyone else in the house has no issues connecting with a wireless connection. The wireless connection has worked maybe twice for me since I purchased the laptop (May 2012). Since I am more comfortable at my desk it's no issue but there is a new printer that I can't connect to because I can't download the driver because I have to unplug my laptop to go in the other room to get to it.

I bought a Dell Inspiron17R SE 7720 with an Intel Wireless 2230 card. I was told I could connect a Netgear Push2TV adapter that would allow me to connect to my TV wirelessly. When I went to connect it, I was able to get the TV to the point of asking me to Launch my Intel Wireless Display. I go to my programs but cannot find anything that mentions Wi-Di. I am not very tech savvy, so I don't know what to do. Is there a driver I can download? Am I missing something on my computer programs? Should I use another method and send the part back to Dell?

The troubleshooter generally leads me to resetting the router, even though, as I have indicated, the router is working properly.

the computer was using a different program to manage the wireless connection. Even though it said it was connected, my internet didn't work. Not knowing anything about this new program, I removed it and tried to connect with the Windows wireless manager. It didn't acknowledge any of the wireless connections around, just a computer-to-computer connection. I took it to a friend's apartment to use their computer and internet to search for options and it still didn't recognize any networks around, now not even the computer-to-computer connection. It now tells me "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on...." The Mini doesn't have a "switch," but I read where F2 can turn it on...however, pressing Fn-F2 is not working for me, either.

I have a new inspiron 1564 laptop that loses connection to my wireless internet within 10 minutes of booting up. Then if I reboot it does not connect at all, can't even find the wireless router.
My works laptop and iPhone connect to the same router perfectly.I've seen the following post a few times from pudgyone and tried following it :Go to device manager(right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager). Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
In terms of the device manager I can't see a network option, there is network adapters and I've right clicked on Realtek PCIe FE family controller and unticked the box but this hasn't worked.
And with the settings, how do I get to the screen where I can change my router settings in windows 7? I think the firmware is updated remotely by my service provider sky.
