I have purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 R 5520. the wire less net work for this laptop is very limited. i am loosing connection aftre, i am moving 4 meter away from the source.
i have other dell laptop at home, but thats works well.
I bought my Inspiron 15R 5520 yesterday evening. Today when I was using my laptop on wireless network then I realized that it's very slow. Then I used application speedtest.net to check the download speed, it's just 9.09 Mbps instead my old HP laptop was receiving 43 Mbps.
I have Network Adpater : Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230 having version number 15.5.7.52 which is latest.
A friend bought an Inspiron 15R 5520 earlier this week & is experiencing poor signal strength & frequent drop outs. I took my Inspiron 15R 5110 to her place, connected to her wireless network & had no problems at all ... good to excellent signal speed & no drop outs.

Since the day I have started using the laptop, I was not able to connect to the internet, using my wifi router. The laptop does get connected to the internet, when I use the Ethernet cable. Thus to find a solution, I tried contacting dell, who took a remote access on my laptop, and also reinstalled the operating system, as well as the drivers for me. Every time I try I get an error the the network adapter isn't found. The trouble shooter can't even fix it. I was told I could connect a Netgear Push2TV adapter that would allow me to connect to my TV wirelessly. And with the settings, how do I get to the screen where I can change my router settings in windows 7? I think the firmware is updated remotely by my service provider sky.

Yesterday my father asked me to reinstall windows after making complete mess of his laptop. After formatting the hard drives and installing the Vista operating system a problem occurred. After installing the drivers from the Dell Drivers CD I can't make the wireless internet working. Windows keeps giving me the "Windows needs to install driver software for your network controller" message. I have goggled the whole internet, did everything from the "PLEASE READ FIRST" thread and still had no success.

It seemed to run fairly well for the first hour or so but a little while after i began to download League of Legends and games through Steam, the wireless connection became nigh un-usable. It cuts out constantly, and when it is online the speeds are ridiculously slow.
I am typing this from my 4 year old laptop, which is having no issue at all with my connection, roughly 6 inches from where my brand new Dell is, so location surely isn't the issue. I tried closing Steam and just letting LoL finish downloading, but that had no effect. I have turned my laptop off but it made no difference. I have of course tried restarting the router - nothing. I'm very disappointed, since online gaming is the number one reason I chose this PC.

Yesterday the wireless no longer worked on my laptop. I have a small wireless icon (looks like a computer monitor) with a yellow triangle with an explanation point inside. The messages are 'Signal Strength: Excellent' and 'Status: Limited or No Connectivity'. I have tried the following with no success:
- Rebooting the laptop (multiple timess)
- Resetting both the cable modem and router
- Turning off the desktop, resetting both the cable modem and router, and rebooting the desktop
- Took my laptop to work where a wireless connection is available and received the same messages
Thinking my wireless adapter / wireless card is bad I purchased a Linksys wireless USB adapter and just installed it. However it also cannot connect to my wireless network and issues a 'Open network Failure' error.
The Internet works fine from my desktop but is directly connected to the modem. I have not tried connecting the modem directly to my laptop to see if it would pick up the connection.
I have an Inspiron 1012 mini. A week ago, it worked fine and I was able to connect to the internet. Now I can't get it to enable a wireless connection. Using device manager, I can see that Radio is enabled. However, when I use the WLAN utility, the check box for enable/disable is unchecked and grayed out so that I cannot change it. Per suggestions from other forums, I have tried fn/F2, but nothing happens. Is this a hardware problem with my wireless card, or is there something I am missing?

Here's what I have: In Network Connections I have two network connections, the Local Area Connection (wired ethernet), and this works fine without a problem, and I have the Wireless Netwok Connection. The Wireless Network Connection is greyed out and says that it is "Disabled". When I right click on it and click on Enable a small window pops up and say "Enabling", then is says "Enabled", but the Wireless Network Connection is still greyed out and says "Disabled".
1. When I click on the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility I get the message: "There are currently no wireless adapters available and enabled. Please enable any available wireless adapters before accessing this configuration utility".
2. In the Device Manager the Dell Wireless 1701 802.11b/g/n can be found under Network adapters. There is neither a red or yellow icon next to it. When I click on properties for this I am told that this device is working properly.
My OS is windows 7 32 bit and my laptop is dell inspiron N4110.
