Dell :: Inspiron 1545 Wireless Card Upgrade To N Router?
Nov 15, 2011
I recently purchased a D Link Xtreme Dir-655 N Router and would like to upgrade the wireless card on my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop to take full advantage of the N router. Which N wireless card is available that is compatible with my laptop? Currently the laptop has the half mini-card 5100 which i dont believe its a N wireless card.
My Inspiron 1545 has a 1397 Wireless G card. I want to up it to a Wireless N card. I have seen references to a Wireless N 1501, 1503, 1510, 1515 & 1520, but none of these are mentioned as being compatible with a 1545.
My cat was laying on my computer and found the key combo to turn off my wireless card! There is no switch on the front or side and I can't find the combo anywhere in the info on my computer. It is an Inspiron 1545.
Older model Inspiron 1545' using the 1397 WLAN card. Has been working fine, until perhaps the past two weeks. Now it frequently drops out, requiring manual disconnect and reconnect. Tonight Internet very slow on that laptop.
There are other devices using the same wifi (including this iPad used to post this), which connect to the wifi and Internet no issue. To me, its pointing to the laptop - either the WLAN card itself, or something in the laptop starting to fail (the laptop does have issues restarting - where it won't do that unless left for say 30 mins).
I'm suspecting a recent windows update or mcafee security update - no other software has been installed or updated.
I've tried changing antenna setting from auto to aux with no change to the above. Have checked for newer drivers - the laptop reports the version we have is the latest ( from 2009) - although they are the windows driver. Running windows 7, 64 bit - as supplied by dell when laptop was brand new. should I give up on the 1397 card and use another USB wifi adapter ?
I have a Inspiron 1721 with windows 7 x64. I want to upgrade my wifi card in this laptop for working with my 300 mbps N router.
I have found a wifi card Intel wifi link 4965AGN MM2, but i can't install it. It has something to do with the fact that is Toshiba branded? With drivers from Intel after some time the laptop goes black screen and i have to restart it.
I recently purchases an inspiron 1545 notebook with various upgrades, one including an upgraded wireless card to get faster speeds and signal strength. I have had problems with this laptop ever since i recieved it, i have an old laptop with a worse card which picks up my signal perfectly fine and the speed and signal stays constant. With this inspiron 1545 with a "even better" wireless card i have many problems:,losing signal, poor signal strength and quality, speeds going from decent to slower than dial up,I will be checking this as often as possible.
i have a dell inspiron 1545 laptop the wireless is so slow ,tryed connecting with wired connect and getting full 60mb download and 2.95 upload ,my wireless speed is 7mb download and 2.95mb upload ,Also checked my son,s lap speed he getting 52mb download and 2.95 upload speed, just wondering is there something wrong with my wireless card
heres my info

My Dell Inspiron 1545 won't connect to my router without an ethernet cord. i used to have no problem doing it, but now my computer refuses to connect wirelessly.
My Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop computer recently had a problem with its hard drive. I took it in and the computer guy had to get me a new hard drive. I picked it up today and my internet won't work! No networks show up. I've tried pushing the F2 key that usually turns the wireless on and off, but nothing. I went into my control panel>network and internet>network map, and it says, "The adapter is not connected." What do I need to do to get my wireless to work?
I'm using a dell Inspiron 1545 with windows vista home premium x64 bit. I recently had to reinstall the operating system due to some severe problems, and ever since, when I try to connect to a network it says "windows could not find any networks", so I hit diagnose, and it said that no wireless networking hardware is installed and configured on my computer.
I recently purchased an Inspiron 1545 from Best Buy that came with a Dell Wireless 1397 card and Vista. Due to some special application requirements, I needed to downgrade to Windows XP. However, I am unable to find the link to the Windows XP Dell WLan installer package for DW1397 for the Inspiron 1545
On the driver download center for Inspiron 1545, it has an XP installer package for a different wireless card. Any link to download the correct Windows XP Installer package for the DW1397 card for Inspiron 1545?
I have Inspiron 1545 and I've installed the latest available "Windows 7 Ultimate", but the OS could not detect the Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module.
The Nokia N95 bluetooth finds the laptop bluetooth module, but there is no reaction from the Windows 7 OS. There is no Bluetooth device in the "Device Manager".
I have a dell inspiron 1545 and my internet was working fine last night. My laptop restarted at some point during the night and now it can't connect to my normal wireless network. when I use my phone as a wifi hotspot, my laptop can connect to it.My desktop connects to my home's wireless network fine so I'm not sure why my laptop, which can connect to other networks fine, can't connect to my working home network
I have just bought a v313w printer & cannot get it to connect wireless to my inspirion 1545 laptop (windows 7)During the wireless set-up, it gets to the third of the five stages ok. These are configuring printer, resetting printer & connecting to wireless network. It fails on Acquiring network address & communicating with the printer!
I have tried the following without any luck, uninstalling & re-installing, powering down cable modem/router, changing security settings on router from 64bit wep to 128 wep & WPA/PSK, dell expert taking control of my laptop & trying to connect (which resulted in Dell sending me a new printer because the expert seemed to think it maybe a faulty wireless card in the printer, this is not the case becuase the same problem occurs with the second printer dell have sent me!). I have downloaded & installed the latest drivers for this printer from the dell website & I've switched off my security (anti virus/firewall) when trying to install.
I am completely stuck as to what to try next, the printer works perfectly fine from the USB cable.
I have a Dell laptop Inspiron 1545 model PPHL that will not connect to my wireless route. I know the wireless router is working because I call connect to the internet using my Gateway laptop. I'm getting a message that the (Dell) wireless capability switch is turned off. I've been unsuccessfull in my atttempts to turn it on. how to turn the switch on?
Wireless service on Dell laptop computer had been running fine for 4.5 months until underground Comcast cable failed, presumably due to freezing and thawing in cold New England soil. All Comcast service went out, TV, Internet cable modem, etc. Service was restored with above ground cable, and wireless service returned to other devices in household, but not the Dell laptop. I am wondering if my wireless card itself was damaged in the event, as no software fixes I have tried have worked. However, the device manager says the Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-card is working properly and the driver software for the service is up to date.
Some of the messages I have received from various command line and dialogue box attempted fixes:
Dell Wireless 1515 Adapter Device Not Found
There are currently no wireless adapters available and enabled
Cannot repair adapter because wireless service is not running
Windows could not start the WLAN AutoConfig service on Local Computer

I got a (one year old) Dell Inspiron 1545 and I'm using it always with wifi on to get connected to the net.Since a couple of days this Wifi connection often goes off and on (by itself) and I got no clue what it source of this problem is.My Eventlog says that it switches off very irregulary (between 3 and 10 minutes). I've installed the newest drivers and got the latest updates for the Wifi card and on my Windows Vista.
I have an inspiron 1545 that had to be resurrected after a crash. The WiFi worked before I re-loaded windows from the recovery disc, The radio switch indicates it is on but it doesn't seem to find any signals. I am running windows vista sp-2. I am using version mifi2200. If I am overlooking the way to make the WiFi work by getting into a program and having to turn something on or adjusting a setting i am unaware of what to do.
for no apparent reason I have lost both wi-fi and wired Internet on my Dell Inspiron 1545. I have tried to set up again etc but it states 'No connections are available'. I am connected on my iPod so my broadband is fine. I have tried with an Ethernet cable but it does nothing.
my laptop does not connect to my wifi network.it gets local access but does not connect to internet.as told y others i tried to enable dhcp server but still its not getting connected to internet.when i go to run->cmd->ipconfig /all i get the following :

I have a dell inspiron 1545 after upgrading it from windows xp to windows 7 ultimate the bluetooth is not working now. the bluetooth even does not appear on the control panel on harware and sound. I checked the driver from device germanaand it is installed I even uninstalled the bluetooth driver and downloaded it from dell website but still not working.
On a Dell Inspiron 1545, the internet stopped connecting. I updated all of the networking drivers and that did not work. The 'repair wireless network connection' does not work, it tries to repair it then stops at 'renewing your IP address'. It has nothing to do with the wireless network, because we are at a university and only this computer will not work.
here is the ipconfig /all

I have a three year old Inspiron 1545. About a month ago the computer stopped detecting the wifi at home. It never had this problem before, and the other household laptop and iPhone had no problem detecting and getting onto the the wifi. The problematic laptop will connect to the net via wire. I get a red x over the connection icon, and when I put the cursor over the icon, a message reads "connection status unknown: the dependency service or group failed to start."
I downloaded Windows 8 on the first day of it's public release. I have an Inspiron 1545 laptop. As soon as I installed W8, my wireless card stopped working. Is there any chance that W8 drivers will be released anytime soon? I am very dependent on my laptop and need to get it up and going again.
My Dell inspiron 1545 with vista won't connect to the internet. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with the router because i'm currently posting this through the same router on a different laptop.Everything was fine and i hadn't changed any of the settings and suddenly when i tried to connect it would say "connection taking longer than usual" and then "connection unsuccessful"When i look on availiable wifi's the strenth is excellent and when i diagnose the problem it says "Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card"?
i tryed clicking The Dell wireless WLAN card utility and it reads, "there are currently no wireless adaptors availabe and enabled, i also wento to device manager and next to all my network adaptors there is an exclamation mark?
I installed windows 8 X64 build 9200 on dell inspiron 1545 and it didn't recognized the Bluetooth. It also rejects its win7 driver due to known comparability issue. Where can I find the driver?
