bought a new Dell Inspiron 15R laptop online and received it today.
It has Windows 8 preloaded, I am not able to connect to my WiFi network, while I am able to connect using my other devices.
The WiFi network in getting detected and the signal strength is full as well, when I give the password and click connect, it tries to verify and connect for a long time, finally say "Can't connect to this network".
i have a Inspiron 15R (N5010) laptop and I have problems connecting with my wifi connection. i'm not able to find any network connections available but there are plenty in my building and i cannot connect to my network using my friend's laptop. I have turned on the wifi button which is placed on top of the keyboard on one of my function keys, i have noticed an exclamation mark next to my wireless adapter in the device manager menu and it says the device is not working properly. I dont have an ethernet cable so i cannot connect to the internet.

I just received a Wifi adapter from my internet provider and my laptop does not connect. I thought that my laptop comes with Wifi in it already. I called dell and they told me to buy it? I dont understand, I am connected with my network, I am able to connect wifi with my PS3 and Iphone but not with my laptop.

It will not connect to the internet at a Bloodbank I visit twice a week. It will connect to their wireless network, and gets a strong signal, but no internet. Other people at this facility seen to have no problem connecting to the internet. I tried downloading updated drivers for my wireless card, but it said I already had the latest drivers. I have turned off my firewall and changed to the lowest security settings. I don't know what to do.

When I go to Network and Sharing Center it shows a drawing of my PC and then a green line to "Identifying" and a line with an X to Internet. It also says my access is local only.

The message "this computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured" popped up. So I tried to plug in a an ethernet cable and it still wont let me connect to the internet! In my device manager bar under other devices a network controller is there with a yellow excplanation point. I am unable to connect to the wired network. We have a 4 port prolink router and there is no error with it. I know because I am using the same cable for my laptop, which I am using for my desktop. I just unplug it from the desktop and plug it to laptop. I am unable to provide any specs from the desktop because there is an error in that computer.
However, I can give ipconfig/all data from my father's computer, which use another port of the same router.
My laptop is working perfectly with the Mobile BroadBand. And this is a dual boot computer with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and the cable is fine with Ubuntu.

I have a Dell Inspirion M5110. Windows 7, 64 bit.
When ever I open the lid to the laptop it takes 5-10 mins before it will automatically connect to a network. Diagnose this network does not find anything, nor provides any troubleshooting. Typically if I open the network connections center and disable the wireless, let it sit for 30 secs or so, and re-enable, it will finally connect.
I know it's not my router, as the laptop does the same thing at work, and multiple different friends house.
I've confirmed that DHCP is set to automatic connect. I've also checked Device Manager/Network adapters/ and unchecked the box "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
I have an older Dell laptop (Inspiron 4150: 10+ years old) and it has an onboard 3com 10/100 ethernet adapter. I recently switched to a Doccis 3.0 modem from Comcast and the laptop doesn't seem to get along with it too well. Are there any options for me to be able to get a Gigabit ethernet adapter for this older laptop? As far as the expansion slots go, the laptop has a Cardbus controller (Texas Instruements 1420 Cardbus controller) and as far as the PC Card connectors go, it has 2(supports 2 Type I or II cards or 1 Type III card with the PCMCIA being 16 bits and the Cardbus being 32 bits).
Is there such thing as a Gigabit ethernet pc card that this laptop would support? If not, what other options are there?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a dell inspiron 8600 running windows xp. the issue is it will let me connect to other wireless networks but not mine. i try to connect to mine , i enter my metwork key and it says please wait while windows connects. then after 30 seconds or so the box goes away and under connections mine is listed and says automatic but i am not connected. i have tried everything, even manually setting up network and entering network key and still nothing. oh n i know it isnt my router because i have another laptop connected to this network already and works fine

At the beginning of December, I moved to a new apartment and got Verizon internet. I have no problem connecting to the network, it says excellent strength. But my internet doesn't work. On the 'manage internet connections' page, there is a red X from network to internet. I've even tried connecting with the ethernet cable and it still won't work!! Right now, I'm on my boyfriends HP laptop, connected to the same network and able to connect to the internet just fine.

I live in an apartment with two other guys and both of them are able to connect to the router perfectly, and one of them has the exact same computer as I do. We have other wireless networks around our apartment that aren't secure and I can connect to them but I can't connect to the secure router.

I set my power plan to high performance, and I configured the power management on my adapter so it wouldn't turn off in order to save power, but this did not fix the problem. My adapter does not have Antenna Diversity.
