I have a Dell Inspiron N4010, recently it has not been connecting to any wireless network, not at work, school or home! I troubleshoot the problems and it states that I have plug in Ethernet i don't know why it will not connect without it, I bought this laptop only 5 months ago!

I've tried downloading software from Dell's web site, I bought (and returned) and USB to Ethernet cable, only to find out that it was a model ahead of what this machine needs.I've asked local repair place (Microcenter) what it might be, but they'll only tell me after I pay $70 just to open it up.Another repair guy said that it is probably the motherboard and it wasn't worth fixing. 1. I've upgraded by bios to version A13
2. I've checked in the bios advanced tap to ensure the wireless was enabled, it is
3. Device manger says the drivers are up to date and the device is working properly, driver version 5.60.48.35
4. System info says the wireless adapter is disabled
5. wireless key F2 has no impact on the status
I am having Inspiron N4010 for almost an year now. I have had many troubles with this but never with internet connectivity. Last week I saw myself not being able to be connected to internet through wireless or wired network while everybody else was connected and surfing. I just thought it to be a small problem and the problem seemed resolved that very day itself on its own.
But today this computer has simply failed to get connected. it does get connected, open a page or two and then again refuses to connect. On the problem diagnoses from network sharing center, it was showing that the websites are not responding, then it started showing that DNS server was not responding while all my setting are correctly configured. I pinged gateway and it responds but on pinging some website there is no response at all. It s a problem with my laptop only as everybody else are using internet very well. I am using internet through my WiFi enabled cell phone using the same connection and router that i use for my laptop. I need an urgent solutions as I have to meet some deadlines regarding assignments.

View 14 Replies View RelatedNow that the wireless on my Dell XPS 15 Z is fine, I've run into some problems with internet connectivity with Ethernet cable. Since the beginning, I wasn't able to connect to it through cable. When I connect my laptop with the cable, it says that it's connected, and that it has an internet connection. However, I can't get on it... My browsers don't have internet, and other programs can't connect either. (that while it says that it's connected to internet, quite strange)... I was thinking of some security adjustment that might block the internet connection or something, I don't know.
Oh, something that I should mention... I was able to get internet through Ethernet cable when there was a firewall... But when there's no security to the network... It isn't possible to have internet and it gives the situation described above. (any other laptop can connect with the network, so there must be some adjustment issue...)

I cant install The wifi Driver it says "This software package cannot be installed in your system the setup application will exit"
I do have the drivers CD this is the only driver that doesn't work.

It will not connect to the internet at a Bloodbank I visit twice a week. It will connect to their wireless network, and gets a strong signal, but no internet. Other people at this facility seen to have no problem connecting to the internet. I tried downloading updated drivers for my wireless card, but it said I already had the latest drivers. I have turned off my firewall and changed to the lowest security settings. I don't know what to do.

When I go to Network and Sharing Center it shows a drawing of my PC and then a green line to "Identifying" and a line with an X to Internet. It also says my access is local only.

and with my Bluetooth am not even showing my Bluetooth..when i searched with mobile for nearby devices its shows dell pc but unable to connect.
I am really enjoying my Dell, but I have one issue. The wireless card on the N4010 shuts itself off for no reason. Sometimes the Fn+F2 key will turn the connection back on, but sometimes I have to Fn+F2 and disabling and re-abling the wireless connection to re-establish the network connection.Is there a setting that I need to adjust or a new driver???

I have used the dongle many times on this laptop without issue and the dongle still works on my other laptop fine. Recently Virgin installed their latest Hub / wireless router for me and since then i cannot make a wireless connection to the internet. Before that I use to be able to connect to my old router (Linksys Wireless-G 2.4Ghz) no problem! I can connect via the ethernet cable no problems. The WiFi is on and even when I disconnect the ethernet cable, the bottom right hand corner symbol says that I am connected but I cannot load the internet and keeps giving me this message:"The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."The Virgin Media support team ran a check and told me that my wirless adaptor is out of date and needs updating so I went on Dell Support, downloaded and installed the follwoing drivers but still no joy!

I have also ran a wireless WLAN utility diagnostic check through the control panel. In the Connection diagnostics, the Gateway IP Ping 'failed' and I think as result of that the Internet IP Ping, DNS IP ping and internet website domain name ping all 'skipped' but all else passed.
I just had recently replaced my Power Jack which had the ethernet port with it. Ever since I replaced it my Local Network Connection would give me an error (Network Cable Unplugged).
