Aug 20, 2012I bought Dell Inspiron 5520 two weeks ago in Dubai, UAE.My Internet was working fine first couple of days but since past 4 days I am not able to connect to internet via Wifi (however there are other laptops i.e. HP and Dell) that are able to use the same Wifi to connect to internet but my brand new Dell us not able.I am not quite techie, only understand very basics of this whole laptop (hardware and softwares etc)

I see that there's an excellent connection and my computer is telling me that I am connected but when I try to access the internet, via Chrome, I get nada. I get a message telling me that the DNS look up failed, I'm using Windows XP, have Norton Internet Security and am using the Wise 365 Registry Cleaner (it was acting funky before I downloaded the registry cleaner). Is there anything else I need to include? I know the computer's old, but I never had a problem accessing the internet before.

Feb 9, 2013I have not yet confirmed that this is a hardware issue but I'm pretty sure it is. I was suspecting that it was and issue with SP3 or a driver issue however it is doing the same thing always now. It will turn on and detect wireless networks but when I go to connect the connection box simply stays on "waiting for the network" then just stops. No faults or warnings. This happens with any network.
I stopped using the wireless a few months ago when it would randomly disconnect for any network. The thing just would not stay connected. Just used LAN. I have tried several different drivers and even a complete image restore. It really does seem like a hardware issue. Now I can pick up a new card for pretty cheap but I just want to if this is a common problem.

Nov 2, 2011I have a Inspiron 8000 and I just formatted the hard drive. I had been using a D-link wireless USB adapter with a D-Link wireless router - with no problems, but now when I try to reinstall the usb wireless adapter it asks for a hard wired connection to the router and even then it won't install and will not connect wirelessly or with the network cable. it seems the internal Dell network adapter has been affected in some way and will not work - as you can see I don't have alot of pc savy..?

Jul 12, 2012I have a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110, using a TrendNet Wireless Adapter, and using SkyWeb Internet Service. My laptop is a little over a year old.On April 30, 2012, I had to have my hard drive and motherboard replaced by Dell due to some issues. It was replaced, but directly afterwards, I couldn't connect to my wireless internet when I was more than five feet away. I have contacted Dell several times about this and each time they give me the same answer:
Reset/Uninstall the current connection, reconnect to the connection, and allow it to connect.
Each time, it wouldn't work. Finally, after calling for the seventh or eighth time, I was told that perhaps my wireless card was bad (which I had suggested before, but the Dell employees told me that wasn't possible). So a Dell Dispatcher was sent to my house, my dispatch number being <Admin Note:dispatch number removed per privacy policy~RK> and my technician was Will. He replaced my WiFi card, ran an EPSA diagnostics test, to which all tests passed, and still couldn't get my Internet to connect. We were less than twenty feet away. He tried to suggest that perhaps it was because the wall was decreasing the signal, but that is not possible since my sister (who owns a Dell laptop herself) can connect just fine from anywhere in our home. He called Dell himself, who was told that I (the customer) should contact tech support.
I contacted Dell support and was told to contact the wireless division, who has told me to the same thing as stated above (reset, re-install, connect). I was told to turn off the power saving feature under my wireless networks in device manager. That seemed to do the trick for a few hours. Then, it went back to cutting in and out. I can't go more than five feet from my wifi adapter anymore when I used to be able to go outside with it. My sister (as mentioned before) tested this a few days ago. I have installed numerous drivers, and I'm not even sure whether I need them or if they're even working.

Last week I saw myself not being able to be connected to internet through wireless or wired network while everybody else was connected and surfing. But today this computer has simply failed to get connected. it does get connected, open a page or two and then again refuses to connect. On the problem diagnoses from network sharing center, it was showing that the websites are not responding, then it started showing that DNS server was not responding while all my setting are correctly configured. I pinged gateway and it responds but on pinging some website there is no response at all. It s a problem with my laptop only as everybody else are using internet very well. I am using internet through my WiFi enabled cell phone using the same connection and router that i use for my laptop. I need an urgent solutions as I have to meet some deadlines regarding assignments.

Nov 20, 2009I am having problems connecting to the internet. I've tried changing my security from WPA to WEP and back again. I've searched these forums for a solution and nothing has worked. I've changed my antenna output to Aux from Auto as one thread suggested, but no luck.
For a time, I could connect to my wireless BT Home Hub 2, but the range was pathetic (about 4 metres). I've tried connecting to my partners home wireless connection, and again, same problem. Now the connection is virtually nothing. If I am lucky enough to get a connection then it will be poor and usually fail within 2 minutes.
I've had my Dell Inspiron Mini 10v for nearly 3 months now. I wish I was brave enough to return it when I had the chance.People have commented that this could be a known issue. I don't know what the problem is. I've spoken to IT bods my office and nobody seems to know.

Wireless Connection On Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop Does Not Work
Dec 20, 2011I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop that is about 6 years old running Windows XP. I have a Dell desktop with a cable modem and Linksys wireless router connected to the desktop to run my home wireless network.
Yesterday the wireless no longer worked on my laptop. I have a small wireless icon (looks like a computer monitor) with a yellow triangle with an explanation point inside. The messages are 'Signal Strength: Excellent' and 'Status: Limited or No Connectivity'. I have tried the following with no success:
- Rebooting the laptop (multiple timess)
- Resetting both the cable modem and router
- Turning off the desktop, resetting both the cable modem and router, and rebooting the desktop
- Took my laptop to work where a wireless connection is available and received the same messages
Thinking my wireless adapter / wireless card is bad I purchased a Linksys wireless USB adapter and just installed it. However it also cannot connect to my wireless network and issues a 'Open network Failure' error.
The Internet works fine from my desktop but is directly connected to the modem. I have not tried connecting the modem directly to my laptop to see if it would pick up the connection.
