My Dell inspiron 1545 with vista won't connect to the internet. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with the router because i'm currently posting this through the same router on a different laptop.Everything was fine and i hadn't changed any of the settings and suddenly when i tried to connect it would say "connection taking longer than usual" and then "connection unsuccessful"When i look on availiable wifi's the strenth is excellent and when i diagnose the problem it says "Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card"?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI don't really know much about computers, but I have a Dell inspiron 1545 and it fell off my bed by accident a while back so now I notice glitches here and there, but recently it just doesn't connect to Internet anymore, and I know my wifi is fine because I'm using my iPad right now to write this. When I go to Network and Sharing Center it shows a drawing of my PC and then a green line to "Identifying" and a line with an X to Internet. It also says my access is local only.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted my latptop to be reset so I could give it to a friend. Everything worked fine before I ran the OS disk. Now I try to connec to the internet and it wont work. The message "this computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured" popped up. So I tried to plug in a an ethernet cable and it still wont let me connect to the internet! In my device manager bar under other devices a network controller is there with a yellow excplanation point. So I was going to go to the dell link provided in another forum and update the drivers, but I cant do that if I cant connect to the internet at all! My laptop is a dell inspiron 1545.

View 5 Replies View Relatedfor no apparent reason I have lost both wi-fi and wired Internet on my Dell Inspiron 1545. I have tried to set up again etc but it states 'No connections are available'. I am connected on my iPod so my broadband is fine. I have tried with an Ethernet cable but it does nothing.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn a Dell Inspiron 1545, the internet stopped connecting. I updated all of the networking drivers and that did not work. The 'repair wireless network connection' does not work, it tries to repair it then stops at 'renewing your IP address'. It has nothing to do with the wireless network, because we are at a university and only this computer will not work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Windows 7 today and got the message "Your Bluetooth Software license does not include use with this Bluetooth device ." I can see the 590Plantronics in the "Bluetooth Headset Operations and Settings" window but it would not connect.
I looked for and installed the latest driver for Windows 7 on the Dell driver downloads site "Widdcomm Bluetooth Software 6.2.0.9600". When it installed it gave a "Device unplugged" message for four instances of "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" but despite a "Ready to use" message for "Bluetooth Hands-free Audio" the overall message is "Device did not install properly" and I still cannot connect to my P590 headset.
Older model Inspiron 1545' using the 1397 WLAN card. Has been working fine, until perhaps the past two weeks. Now it frequently drops out, requiring manual disconnect and reconnect. Tonight Internet very slow on that laptop.
There are other devices using the same wifi (including this iPad used to post this), which connect to the wifi and Internet no issue. To me, its pointing to the laptop - either the WLAN card itself, or something in the laptop starting to fail (the laptop does have issues restarting - where it won't do that unless left for say 30 mins).
I'm suspecting a recent windows update or mcafee security update - no other software has been installed or updated.
I've tried changing antenna setting from auto to aux with no change to the above. Have checked for newer drivers - the laptop reports the version we have is the latest ( from 2009) - although they are the windows driver. Running windows 7, 64 bit - as supplied by dell when laptop was brand new. should I give up on the 1397 card and use another USB wifi adapter ?
I have a Inspiron 8000 and I just formatted the hard drive. I had been using a D-link wireless USB adapter with a D-Link wireless router - with no problems, but now when I try to reinstall the usb wireless adapter it asks for a hard wired connection to the router and even then it won't install and will not connect wirelessly or with the network cable. it seems the internal Dell network adapter has been affected in some way and will not work - as you can see I don't have alot of pc savy..?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110, using a TrendNet Wireless Adapter, and using SkyWeb Internet Service. My laptop is a little over a year old.On April 30, 2012, I had to have my hard drive and motherboard replaced by Dell due to some issues. It was replaced, but directly afterwards, I couldn't connect to my wireless internet when I was more than five feet away. I have contacted Dell several times about this and each time they give me the same answer:
Reset/Uninstall the current connection, reconnect to the connection, and allow it to connect.
Each time, it wouldn't work. Finally, after calling for the seventh or eighth time, I was told that perhaps my wireless card was bad (which I had suggested before, but the Dell employees told me that wasn't possible). So a Dell Dispatcher was sent to my house, my dispatch number being <Admin Note:dispatch number removed per privacy policy~RK> and my technician was Will. He replaced my WiFi card, ran an EPSA diagnostics test, to which all tests passed, and still couldn't get my Internet to connect. We were less than twenty feet away. He tried to suggest that perhaps it was because the wall was decreasing the signal, but that is not possible since my sister (who owns a Dell laptop herself) can connect just fine from anywhere in our home. He called Dell himself, who was told that I (the customer) should contact tech support.
I contacted Dell support and was told to contact the wireless division, who has told me to the same thing as stated above (reset, re-install, connect). I was told to turn off the power saving feature under my wireless networks in device manager. That seemed to do the trick for a few hours. Then, it went back to cutting in and out. I can't go more than five feet from my wifi adapter anymore when I used to be able to go outside with it. My sister (as mentioned before) tested this a few days ago. I have installed numerous drivers, and I'm not even sure whether I need them or if they're even working.
I bought Dell Inspiron 5520 two weeks ago in Dubai, UAE.My Internet was working fine first couple of days but since past 4 days I am not able to connect to internet via Wifi (however there are other laptops i.e. HP and Dell) that are able to use the same Wifi to connect to internet but my brand new Dell us not able.I am not quite techie, only understand very basics of this whole laptop (hardware and softwares etc)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having problems connecting to the internet. I've tried changing my security from WPA to WEP and back again. I've searched these forums for a solution and nothing has worked. I've changed my antenna output to Aux from Auto as one thread suggested, but no luck.
For a time, I could connect to my wireless BT Home Hub 2, but the range was pathetic (about 4 metres). I've tried connecting to my partners home wireless connection, and again, same problem. Now the connection is virtually nothing. If I am lucky enough to get a connection then it will be poor and usually fail within 2 minutes.
I've had my Dell Inspiron Mini 10v for nearly 3 months now. I wish I was brave enough to return it when I had the chance.People have commented that this could be a known issue. I don't know what the problem is. I've spoken to IT bods my office and nobody seems to know.
I just got an Inspiron 1520 for Christmas. So I have only been using it a few days. The first day I set up the internet connection I had no problem but now when my computer goes into sleep mode or hibernate mode I lose internet connection and it won't reconnect. It will seach for a network, then say that I have limited access or the network is unidentified. I have to either disconnect from the network and reconnect and sometimes I even have to restart the laptop to get the connection back. I have the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini card.

I've installed the newest drivers and got the latest updates for the Wifi card and on my Windows Vista.

The WiFi worked before I re-loaded windows from the recovery disc, The radio switch indicates it is on but it doesn't seem to find any signals. I am running windows vista sp-2. I am using version mifi2200. If I am overlooking the way to make the WiFi work by getting into a program and having to turn something on or adjusting a setting i am unaware of what to do.

I have a three year old Inspiron 1545. About a month ago the computer stopped detecting the wifi at home. It never had this problem before, and the other household laptop and iPhone had no problem detecting and getting onto the the wifi. The problematic laptop will connect to the net via wire. I get a red x over the connection icon, and when I put the cursor over the icon, a message reads "connection status unknown: the dependency service or group failed to start."
