Linksys Access Point :: Wap610n Very Slow In N Mode?
Jan 23, 2011
I have a Wap610n access point, when I am connected on the device in N mode I got an average speed of 50 bytes per sec, in G mode no problem with an average speed of 2.250 meg per sec .I have tried with 2 different USB keys (Belkin f7d2101 and Hercules hwnum-300) but the result is the same. The access point is configured in 2.4 GHz, band 40 mhz only, and I have verified that no other radio emissions are on the same frequencies than the Wap610n in my neighborhood.
I want to configure and WAP610N to work as an Access Point (it was configured by previous administrator some time ago): free hotspot open, LAN secured by password. What makes my last 2 days horrible is that I can't even get access to Administration Panel. Used Cisco Online Support Articles, used User Manual, tried many ways to connect without luck.First of all I've connected LAN cable directly from PC to AP and Windows stuck at "Identyfying State", after some hours "arp -a" command shows me only IP's of my LAN, no MAC of the AP.Tried to reset settings to the factory default - when on push for 30 seconds reset button, power diode blinks, ap starts and settings are the same - still connects to the company's LAN.Wireless networks is default 'linksys' without password I can connect to it and get the internet, after pushing fast connection button it changes to secured "Linksys-<some letters and numbers>" to which I can't connect.I can't even get IP on wired and wireless connection - DHCP don't work? I don't know what IP to set manually. How can I get access to Administration Panel? How to reset this thing?
I use my WAP610N as access point (AP) in a network with a router.Firmware is up to date (184.108.40.206 build 7).After I connect my mobile phone the AP crashes after a few minutes. (The firmware of the mobile phone is also up to date.)Then it blocks the whole LAN until I disconnect the network cable from the AP. Then the rest of the network works just fine.Blocking means, that a computer connected to a lan port of the router can't ping anything nor has access to the internet anymore.I need to power off the WAP610N and after the restart it works again.
Also is there any way to debug or at least show some kind of log on the WAP610N? The web client seems to have no such features. Is there an additional URL with more commands? It seems that theres no telnet console either.
iPhone does not recognize home network. MacBook does! The phone recognizes and connects to all otther networks except this one at home. The WAP610N is used as an extender attached to Alcatel Lucent 7130.
I have a problem updating firmware for an WAP610N access point. The thing is i tryed to update from 1.0.01 to 1.0.03 and the update freezed at 49%. The next day it was restarted but of course it didn't worked again. The question is can i reset it some how so i can retry the firmware update ?
I've recently purchased 5 WAP610N access points to replace my older US Robotincs access points.I've configured one WAP610N (upgraded to the latest firmware i found on the site) with a static IP, bropadcasted SSID & WPA2 personal security.I had no problem at all to connect PC's but when i tried to connect the Ipad & Iphone (with the latest 4.3 firmware) i was able to connect to the network but unable to get an IP lease. I had no problem before connecting to the US roboticx access points. When i change (lower) the security to WEP on the WAP610N then everything works fine but i want to use WPA2 in stead of the unsecure WEP protocol.
I try to change the wmm settings to video, but it's always going back to background settings after saving.I already re-uploaded the firmware, but with no result...I noticed that is a newer firmware available for the WET610n where they solved this issue, but they haven't changed it for the WAP610n....
I have a duplex on the first floor have the adsl router from the telephone company can not be replaced, the switch from a cable that comes into a room on the second floor where it was connected to an access point Linksys Wireless-N Access Point with Dual-Band WAP610N the signal on the first floor, however, comes down and in some cases just no signal.
I've some strange things with my WAP610.I connect it to my lan, my DHCP server assign an IP, that's normal way..I lookup for this IP, and fill in the address field in my IE (firefox or safari I've tried all of them).... the AP ask me password and user... I fill in the password field... and get into config...
So I think it could be a bug with static IP... I'll try on the wireless security... select "manual"... change nothing (leave default value) click save... wait a while... connect on the DHCP ip, return to the wireless page... and lost a lot of time since nothing is saved.
We have a several WAP610N Access points in our company since a few months and immediately noticed that it has problems with the gateway when you set it to use a static IP. (the AP loses its gateway when you pull the power). Today I saw that there was a firmware update, and in the firmware release notes it stated that the problem with the missing gateway info on the status screen was solved.
This info is correct. After updating to 220.127.116.11 the gateway is shown in the status screen when you use a static IP, but the actual function of the gateway is still not working after restarting the AP! I already let our reseller create a support call with Linksys a few months ago, but in the end they told me this would probably not be fixed and that I had to use DHCP.
I have a WAP610N that I would like to use as a range expander on an existing wireless network. I want to be able to seamlessly move around the house and yard using both my router and WAP without getting disonnected. Can the WAP610N be configured to work this way? Any special settings to be aware of?
I have a wap610n access point, which failed during an upgrade. Now it just comes on with the power led and the network led blinking but there is no connection. i have tried the 30/30/30 resetting process but its still not working.
I bought a Linksys WAP610N today, i placed it so i could get a signal where i can't normally.
The thing is i configured it correctly, well at least i think, i can see it on my wireless network, with a good signal, but on my Android tablet (Google Nexus 7), it can't get past the "Obtaining IP address".
I called the technical support, the person there tried to assist me for about 1 hour, we tried different settings, we upgraded firmware from 1.0.01 to 1.0.04, but it didn't worked. Now he said someone will call me tomorrow during the afternoon.
My router isn't Linksys, it's a Netgear, i don't have wireless problem when i connect my tablets or any other wireless device on it, it's just that i bought this WAP610N to have the signal in my bedroom, where i don't get any signal normally.
I set up the WAP610N as a wireless access point, and it refuses to accept the passsword on several iphones (2 iphone4s and one iphone5) and a kindle fire.
The devices are picking up the network, but when the password is entered, the access point refuses the password. I've checked the password numerous times and the spelling is correct.
If the access point's settings are set to no security, there's an instant connection, which I expected, but the password is refused on either of the secure settings.
I bought the WAP610N for my son months ago, but he couldn't get it installed in his old apartment several states away because he doesn't have a CD drive in his computer. Now that he's moved into an apartment close to home, I was able to set it up using my computer. So I don't know if maybe it's a firmware issue since it sat in the box for months, or something else.
The access point is hooked up through a TP-Link TL-R860 Cable/DSL Router., which is not wireless.
Is it possible to use WAP610N Wireless-N Access Point repeating signal with another WAP610N Wireless-N Access Point?what the range of signal when using a single WAP610N Wireless-N Access Point ?How many devices can connect to WAP610N in the same time?
I had the WAP610N for a few months with no issues. As always, I have a custom SSID and password, using WPA2. All of a sudden, none of my mobile units (at least 5) are unable to connect via the WAP610N. However, I can connect to a Netgear N750 w/o any issues. When I reboot the WAP610N, it resolves the issue for a few minutes, but then behaves the same as before. I know its not my network because, I am able to connect via wired and wireless via the Netgear. I verified via the web interface that none of the settings/configurations have changed - but still nothing. Latest firmware has been applied. Note sure If I should perform a factory reset or re-apply the firmware.
I have a big house so I have a e4200 on one end of the house upstairs and the WAP610n on the other end downstairs linked via CA6. I am having no issues with Laptops etc..just with Apple devices. I spent a lot of time with chat support (waste of time). WAP was flashed with latest firmware via hard wire no devices connected to wireless, has same ssid and security settings as router running on 2.4 ghz wpa2 personal AES. I am using 2.4 due to iphone4 does not support 5ghz and wap does not support dual band (another bummer). I am using AES instead of TKIP/AES mixed mode due to apple devices will not acquire dhcp with this setting and if they do they lose it right away. I have tried everything imaginable with the settings even changed beacon to 75, 50 RTS to 2304 etc...the current setting are the only ones that seem to work the best however when i run speedtest.net LA server or SD server the performance is horrible. On windows laptop i can achieve 27mbps down 2.5mbpsup, my apple devices use to achieve very close numbers to that on a simple configuration with two Dlink DGL-4300's one as router one as AP (G mode). So two major issues i have noticed is WAP610N has issues passing DHCP to apple devices and has extremely poor performance. So my question is will there be a firmware to correct this issue or a new hardware version that i can exchange this for if I RMA it or would it be best to call it a day and just get a E3200 and use it as a real simultaneous dual band AP???
we have 2 Access point WAP610N. The after some time goes in stand by and we doesn't able to connect to it. We updated at last firmware (1.0.02 build 3, Feb 25, 2011 ) Timeout inactivity 3600 Renewal key 600 Protection WPA2-PERSONAL
I set up my internet access by adsl modem as gateway, then RV042 as load balancer and dhcp server, security by MAC address restriction and static IP assignment. WAP 610N used as access point.works great for first few weeks, then somehow I can't access the network.I've been using linksys on my SOHO network, no problem before (RV042+WAP54g)
I've got a WAP610N access point and 4 WET610N to connect to it - however, no matter what I do when trying to install the WAP610N the setup tells me it cannot find the device.I've got the WAP610N connected to a homegateway (SAGEM) and my computer connected wired to the HGW. The HGW is setup as a DHCP server, everything beside the WAP610N works. It gets an IP address, and I can login to the web interface of the access point - but is still unable to use the setup and unable to connect any of the WET610N.
I'm trying to configure WAP610N access point to enlarge my existing wifi network (WRT320N router). I configured WAP610N with the same SSID. WAP610N is on channel 6 and WRT320N is on channel 1. Both have WPA2-Personal encryption, the same key.The problem is that no matther what, my laptop connects only to the router (WRT320N):I tried to put the laptop near the WAP610N, disconnect / connect to the network, walk with the laptop between the router and ap... it only connects to the router.
Is there anywhere I can download WAP610N Firmware Version 01.0.00 build 832? I have two units with this firmware version that work OK. I recently purchased another unit that has WAP610N Firmware Versions 1.0.01 and and can only access an IP address if I do not use any security. I also spent a lot of time on the phone with Linksys support to no avail.
I have installed 4 of these units in a commercial premises offering free wifi. Since the day they were installed (5Months ago) we had connectivity issues with mobile devices. This was somewhat resolved in the latest FW 1.0.04 but we are still having random disconnections on the units every 2 - 4 days and have to reboot the units. Lately the units have become unresponsive and reset themselves back to factory settings.
What we have done so far:
Changed router models - No change Changed from Static IPs & DHCP - No change Turned on isolation - No change Performed a wifi analysis to pick the best channel for each unit - Slight signal gain but still disconnects Changed to 20Mhz only (And all other variations) - No change
I think I am left with no option but to return these for some other brand. I'm really regretting buying these units at the minute...
I use the WAP610N as an Accesspoint for only an small Mobilephone to WLAN Printer Network. My big Problem is that i have therefore no DHCP Server in this special small WLAN Network. And now i need an own DHCP Server from the Accesspoint side because otherwise i must use static IP Adresses in all Mobilephones to connect with the WLAN Network .In the WAP610 unfortunately there is only the choose between static IP Adress and IP Adress FROM an existing DHCP server .
I reset the wap610N,after establishing connection, my iphone see my network domain but does not connect. I heard of dual band setting, how do i go about that. What must i do to establish connection with the iphone.
I am using a linksys WRT120N router as a Access point in my student dorm (according to the rules!). As long as i used it as a router, I never had problems with the speed. But now, the connection is very slow. For example, when I am wirelessly connected to the AP, and when I ping the main router of the building, I see packet drops and some packets have more than 4000ms rtt. (while normally it should be b/w 0 and 1 ms). So as I understand it, there is some problem between the AP and my computer in the wireless channel or something but I have no clue.I am using the latest firmware from the CISCO website.
I have spent most of the weekend trying to get this router to act as a proper Access Point.
When it does work (Stay connected) speeds and latency are rotten. If I go back to Routing Mode this thing kicks butt, but I isolate all devices attached to a different subnet and trying to set up proper routes has proved imposable. Firmware 1.0.2 r 13
The online help stated to connect to the "internet interface" when in Bridge Mode DHCP Server Is not broadcasting to on the wireless or wired interfaces.
If I used the wired interface as the uplink I can broadcast the DHCP to any device on wired but again nothing to the Wireless. When I "Show Routing Table" I see two static routes pointing to the ATT router for the Wired/Wireless Interfaces.. 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 (my Gateway) Wired/Wireless (my Gateway) 255.255.255.0 0.0.0. Wired/Wireless
AP mode should only be working in Broadcast. By connecting the Wired Interfaces alone up to my switched network should not use the router at all. If you force all traffic to my router all traffic has to be inspected by the firewall You create a bottleneck my router interface is 10/100.
ATT 2 Wire Gateway/Router with pinholes. 10/100/1000 Non managed 24 port Switch Network. Server infrastructure serving DNS/DHCP.
I decided to buy this after reading it offered Bridge/Access Point mode instead of getting the WAP610 because I wanted to have the option to change to routing mode or AP mode. Since my ATT Uverse Router Wireless is “g” it takes forever to transfer files to and from my servers.
