I would like to make the server available from outside the network, for example from your house. The problem is that Im not really sure how to do this. I have tried following the steps on the instruction manual in Linksys but they do not seem to work, once I set it up as shown bellow, I loose internet and all hell breaks loose.
Going into further detail, I would prefer if the network is changed as little as possible, by this I mean that all the computers stay networked within eachother and only the server is accessible from the outside the network.
What I need:
I have read around that it is possible to set a 1-1 NAT (I know where it is in the menu but have no clue what it does...) so that I can NAT a single public IP directly to a single private IP (in our case the server). How do I do that? Or maybe an alternative?
I have two Windows 7 machines connected by wireless-N to my WAG160N. I frequently find that, although both computers can see the network, they can't see each other. I can temporarily solve this problem by disabling, and then re-enabling, the Wireless MAC filter.
I recently bought a Linksys WAG160N v2 model to replace my old setup of a Linksys WRT54GL + ASUS AM604g (ADSL2+ Modem) i had.I've set it up to dial my ISP's PPPoE connection as i had on the previous setup exactly, And it seemed to work at first. But now i've randomly noticed the connection just dies - the router doesn't respond to wireless at all anymore, and connecting from a wired machine shows the PPPoE link died, while the log says something along the lines of "PPPoE connection terminated: transport endpoint not connected" followed by a big number with lots of zeros and :'s. Probably some kind of IPv6 error address? note that i am not using IPv6 myself nor does my ISP provide any such addresses.
I've already upgraded the firmware to latest and installed the newest WiFi drivers on the machine i was connecting from wirelessly (has an Intel Wifi Link AGN5300 module).
Two years ago I bought a WAG160N for modem (ADSL) and router functionality. I consider to buy a pure router (E3000 or E4200) to connect to the WAG160N and use that one purely as the modem. How and what should I configure/disable on my WAG160N?
I purchased a new WAG160N router a few months ago and recently I have been having major problems with connectivity. The problem is that it resets itself at seemingly random times. I see it happening. The red power light starts flashing red and then the other lights slowly turn green as it re-establishes connection to the internet.
This is becoming extremley frustrating as I do online gaming with my XBOX 360.I use wired connections using ethernet cables. One to my laptop. And one to my XBOX 360.I have contacted my ISP who have done line checks and I have had an engineer look at my line and all is good. I have also replaced all cables to/from the router including phone cords and ethernet cords. EVERYTHING is new.I recall one incident in which my internet was down and I just couldnt get connection AT ALL. I rang my ISP and they got me to log into my modem settings. The settings were all altered for some reason and I have no idea why. When they told me to enter the details in the settings the internet worked immediatley.
I have two routers and was wondering if it is possible to use one as a router and one as an Access point, do you know if this is possible and how do i go about configuring this?
Currently my wagN160N v2 is the one that my dsl is connected to, but how do i go about sharing this to my other router and making the WAG160n v1 the access point?
Last night we had some pretty bad lightning and thunder and our Linksys WAG160N appears to have had a bit of a fright. As I was going round unplugging items in case of a hit (this was after a flash or two, relatively nearby), all the lights on the router were off except for the ethernet light (plugged into a Linksys homeplug adaptor). Now the router doesn't appear to boot. When powered on, the power light doesn't flash or anything to indicate booting up, all you get is the ethernet light (if connected) after a few seconds, but no activity. I'm presuming something has been fried or corrupted? I'm not sure if we did have a power spike either through the mains or phone line as all other equipment seems to be fine, but I'm wondering the the homeplug connection might of had something to do with it after reading a few posts from others on the subject.I've held in the reset button while starting and it doesn't appear to have done anything. I will try the 30/30/30 reset tonight.
I have an issue with my router that disconnects from the internet in variuos situation when my laptop (an hp pavillion dv6) try to connect. It happen everytime when the laptop go in standby. When i turn it on from standby, the router disconnects from the net and the only way to have access to internet again is turn off and then on the router. It happens also when i turn on the laptop if there is yet some other device connected, like my desktop or my iphone or whatever.
Sometimes i have the same problem with my brand new tablet (a sony s) in a slightly different way. I navigate then, after a random amount of time, the router disconnects in the same way and the only way to have back connection is turn off and then on the router.
I bought router WAG160n half year ago. At the begining router worked ok but now I have a problem. Sometimes my Internet slow down. When Internet works bad I have problem with open router websites and when I send ping to router I have very bad answer like 300-2000 ms (distance router to computer 3 meters). Than I restart router and everything is ok. Aha, Internet with cable works ok everytime.I have problem when I send big file to another computer with Wi-Fi
I have a wag160n and would like to disable the wireless and use as a wired ASDL modem. I can't see any obvious settings I'm the setup or buttons on the unit but was wondering if I were to set the DHCP to disable if
I have a WAG160N that I've used as a wireless router for ages. I have changed broadband providers and as they have supplied a new router I decided to use that and connect the old WAG160N via a Home Plug AV network and effectively use it as a range extender.
I have read some of the other forum posts and made the following changes:
1) Set up internet as Bridge mode 2) Set DCHP server as relay
When I connect via an ether net cable it works brilliantly but as soon as I try to connect wireless I can't talk to the internet.
I'm having issues with the wireless speed of my WAG160N. I'm using WPA2/AES, firmware: V2.00.20. The wireless connection signal is very good and the speed shows 130 Mbit/s.
On a wired connection when testing with numion.com I get 6 Mbit/s which is my DSL speed (this is great). On the wireless connection I get max 1,8 Mbit.
I bought a WAG160N ADSL2+, I configured it and all the computers can connect to it with wireless. But the problem is sometimes the connection between the wireless adapter and the router will disconnect and I'm not able to connect again (the computer screen in de bottom right corner has a red cross in front of it if you know what I mean). It can take hours before it will be able to connect again. The only way to have the connection back up is to turn off/on the WAG160N. This happens mostly on my machine (windows XP Dlink Dwa-131 adapter and with the adapter that came with the WAG160N) and afterwards on the other machines. Its like the router doesn't want me to connect anymore.
I have a WAG160N, with firmware 1.00.16. I run several wireless devices at home, a samsung TV, an ipad, an apple tv and an LG media center. I notice that whenever I switch on my LG media centre the wireles connection drops out to the other devices. Then I need to reboot the router and the wireless works again.
WAG160N gateway and wireless dropouts. Wireless connectivity to file and printer shares will fail after an unspecified duration of time.Internet access may also drop. Repairing the wireless connection does not appear to work. Saving the gateway settings without making changes appears to temporarily fix this issue (some users have reported this does not work). Manually performing a power cycle of the gateway will temporarily fix this issue.
I have a WRP400 connected to the internet, and have a WAG160N that I no longer use and would like to to extend my wireless range.I connected them via an Ethernet cable and it seems to work fine without configuring the WAG160N (seemed to just work automatically), but I can't access the WAG160N admin GUI (tried all sorts of IPs in the WRP400 range) to change any settings (frustrating). My guess is that it's probably not the best way to set it up.
1. Set the IP of the WAG160N (The WRP400 is set to 192.168.15.1, so should I change the WAG160N to 192.168.15.2. Or should I be setting it within the WRP400's DHCP range which starts at 192.168.15.100?)
2. Swtich off the DHCP on the WAG160N. (I think I tried this late last night and it wouldn't assign an IP to my laptop, unless I did somehting wrong)
3. Connect the two using a ethernet cable.
After I do this I should still be able to access the WAG160N's admin GUI with the IP assigned in step 1?
I have a WAG160N with firmware V1.00.16 (version 1 device). The router is connected via ethernet to my main iMac running Lion 10.7.2, although the issue's I'm having have occurred for some time before upgrading to Lion or its's latest update.Firstly, devices I connect to the router wirelessly such as my iPad and iPhone will allow me to use the internet on said devices for about ten minute then the internet will simply stop. The device is shown as connected (checking the wifi settings on iPad etc show the router is still seen). If I switch WI-FI off on the device, then back on, internet is restored. It's not an internet provider issue as I can use the net all day on my ethernet-connected iMac without a problem. My printer is connected to my iMac via USB and shared with other devices. It is seen on my Macbook which connects wirelessly via the router. If I try to print from the macbook, the print job will not progress until I re-start the router. Likewise, there are applications that I sync between my ipad and iMac via iTunes with my mac connected via the USB cable. The iPad will not bee seen by the iMac unless I re-start the router. My Apple TV will only sync wirelessly with the iMac if I re-start the router.
I've bought a "WAG160N v1.0 Annex A" almost 2 years ago. I never used it's wireless feature untill we moved our house. Now it's like 4 month I'm using its wifi feature and I've got to admit I'm really frustrated by its functionality!
For months the modem just dropped wireless connection constantly in various time periods. Somtimes it went like 2 days without any problem but some other times I had to change channel every 15 minutes for it to get back working. And yes it didn't get fix until I changed the channel, otherwise clients had to wait several hours for a 50/50 chance of reconnection. Now It's two days the changing channel trick no longer works. I tried all channels and even put my notebook next to the modem but no luck. The notebook sometimes connnects to the access point but disconnects after a few seconds. Somtimes it doesnt even detect the SSID of my WAG160N modem. Some friends suggested that the wireless hardware of my modem is broken and no longer works but I'm eager to know if it is broken why is it still broadcasting and sending signal.
I've tried everything from upgrading and downgrading firmware to turning on and off the modem several times and changes modem position. And even tried the G-only 20MHz mode.We are at a very crowdy place. Using inSSIDer I could pick about 15 other access points. Only few of them are using Wireless-N, most of them are using Wireless-G.This is the inSSIDer diagram of my WAG160N modem from a client: [code]
I have a WAG160N wireless gateway . Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
I've just been sent a new ADSL modem router by my new broadband supplier and plan on using it. However, my question is, can use my old wag160n to replace one of these, which im currently using to connect an old xbox to my wireless network, but also make use of the other lan ports on the wag (i.e. Connect more than one non wireless device to the wag and gain access to my wifi network?)
I've a 20Mbit/s connection with Telecom Italia provider. My line values follows:-- DSL Information ---DSL Driver Version: AnnexA version - A2pB023k.d21dDSL VPI/VCI: 8/35DSL Status: ShowtimeDSL Mode: ADSL2+DSL Channel:DSL Upstream Rate: 979 KbpsDSL Downstream Rate: 22105 Kbps Down upDSL Noise Margin: 12.0 dB 13.4 dBDSL Attenuation: 10.5 dB 4.3 dBDSL Transmit Power: 14.0 dBm 12.4 dBm?I have issues about connection stability : on HEAVY load download the PPP connection goes down. My ISP says that there are no troubles with the line and it can be an issue of the modem...
When I enable the debug with ?todo=debug shall I see more info in the logs ?How to stop the debugging ?How to print the logs ?What is the difference with debug and ppp_debug ?What is the effect of the sendlog command ? I didn't receive any email with a log !
I'm looking to connect a wired PC to the internet.
1. Linksys WAG160N Main router 2. Belkin F5D9630-4 v6
My first question.. is it possible to connect wirelessly from the Linksys to the Belkin, then run an ethernet cable from the Belkin to the PC? If this is possible, then can I use the Belkin to also extend my wireless range? The alternative is to build a Powerline network but I wouldn't get the wireless extension without forking out for more kit.
Struggling to enable Airplay using a WAG160N. Any settings I need on the router? Looking on forums, came across suggestion to disable WMM support. This seemed to work and i had Airplay but now I've lost it again.
I hard reset the router WAG160N and i can't access it on 192.168.1.1, i can connect to the wireless connection but it shows unindentified network, in properties gateway IP is absent. i also get 169.254.1.38 as IPv4.What could have happened to the modem, I can't use it at all at the moment?
I can no longer access the internet, and the internet has been difficult to bring up for one to two weeks.Internet light does not come on. Under Status tab, interface is down, tried refresh and connect but nothing. The IP address can be pinged, 4 packets sent and 4 packets received. Tried resetting defaults and refreshing but no success.Bought this router in September 2008 to replace WAG54G which was constantly turning on and off every few seconds.
Some years ago i have buyed a WAG160N i haven't never used, because once i plug it power, it start to reboot and reboot in a loop...Is there something to do with it or should i put it in the trash ? Firmware using is probably Ver.1.00.15?
I have a WAG160 setup to use the one fo the LAN ports as a WAN connection. The issue is every now and again the internet connection drops and it seems it is unable to communicate with the DNS server that is providing the internet connection.
Any hardware that can re-boot a DSL router such as the WAG 160N when the router no longer passes traffic ? Today, while the DSL line and the Internet appeared to be working, I could not log in to the router from a LAN machine and I had to power it off and on again by hand.We have a number of surveillance cams on the LAN and this must not happen, that the cams cannot be accessed, in particular if nobody is on site for a few days.Unfortunately, the WAG 160N does not have a daily re-boot option. What can one do except for installing a timer that switches the power to the router off and and on again ?
