I've tried two diff computers and neither will connect, each giving different error messages. The work laptop I have right now will hook up to an unsecured network and will ask me for a network key for other detected secured networks, but tells me to refresh and search for networks again when I try to hook up to my network. My personal laptop hooks up to the internet just fine.

I am using BEFW11S4 router at my home. Most of the time it is working fine but sometimes its wireless network stops working–the green light also switches off. I recently upgraded the Firmware to version 1.52.03.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my connection from 15Mbps to 30Mbps. And I have the strange problem of not being able to go above 20Mbps. From what I understand a 10/100Mbps is technically able to do up to 100Mbps? (Ethernet connection, not wireless)I just got off customer support and they said it's normal that it's capped at 20Mbps, the lady that was serving, albeit nice, didn't seem to understand what she was saying so I didn't try to push to get more info.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have router BEFW11S4 ver.4 and its sending wifi around the house, but its an open connection with "linksys" as the username and no password. I've been trying to hook it up but it will not open up when I type in the IP address. It was working last night, and it just stopped all of a sudden. Now my wireless internet is working perfectly! It loads up fast and everything, however, as soon as I plug in the cable that connects my laptop to my router, the internet gets weird. Only yahoo loads up. Gmail, facebook, and other websites dont. And when I type in the IP address, it doesn't work either. I tried to do it both with the direct internet plugged in, and then I switched to wireless. It didn't matter. Whenever the cable was plugged in, it caused problems. As soon as I unplugged it, the wireless went back to normal. I'm on wireless now without the cable plugged in now and it works fine. What should I do? I know the regular IP address should be the 192 one, and that I should sign in with admin password and nothing for username, but my IP address is 172.18.4.1 (I ipconfig'ed to find out)DO I need to change the IP address? If so, how?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my laptop and my Xbox 360 currently hooked up to this router trough ethernet cables (yes I know it's a very old model, but it's all I have for the time being). I'm having issues with connection that I know is on the router end because the router I had before (that has now gone bad) connected fine, but this one has issues. Literally almost every hour on the dot, the connection goes out and will immediately come back on as soon as I simply unplug the router and plug it back in. Basically, I have to turn the router off and on every hour to continue to stay connected all day, everyday.reason?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy ISP was unable to facilitate me, and neither was Linksys chat. I've searched and found many step-by-step guidesm kind of at my wit's end here.Right now when I connect wirelessly to the internet, it jumps on a connection labeled "linksys," which is my wireless router (BEFW11S4 ver. 4). It used to connect to "Jason" (me) but that's no longer a valid connection for some reason. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set my connection back up properly and secure it as my own.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll my years on the computer and internet, i've only been connected via ethernet directly from my cable modem as i have just 1 desktop. Anyhow, i just bought a laptop yesterday and so, a router is a must to connect wirelessly. I received an old Linksys BEFW11S4 v4 router from a friend and decided to use it as it's still functional. Yes, i know it's an ancient router but i'm on a tight budget. The setup - I have the ethernet from my modem plugged into the router. I have another ethernet cable in slot #1 (router) connected to my desktop. For my laptop, it'll be a wireless connection.Issue - Now, the connection for my desktop (via ethernet cable in slot #1 on the router) works perfectly fine. I have it set up (on browser - 192.168.1.1), added the SSID, WPA Shared Key and such. The only issue is with my laptop. Everytime i switch on my laptop, i cannot establish a connection (after selecting the SSID and entering the key). The ONLY way for me to get a connection is if i power off then on the router. Each time i turn on/restart my laptop, i'll have to power off/on the router in order for me to get it to work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedA couple nights ago, my wireless router (Linksys BEFW11S4 ver4) just stopped letting me connect to the internet. All the lights were still flashing as they should, I could still go to the setup page, I just could not connect to the internet, both through wired and wireless. I could connect straight through the modem though.
So I decided that since the router was probably over a decade old that maybe it was just its time, and I bought a new one (E1000). I connected it, and still could not connect to the internet. I then did some internet searching and found this [URL] and I followed what was mentioned in post 10 (MAC address clone and changing local IP). Now I can connect through the wired connection and I rejoiced thinking I solved it.
Then I checked my laptop and it won't even connect to the router. It sees the router, but when I ask it to connect, it just says it can't. I decided I was too exhausted to try searching and fixing it on my own and if I tried I'd just end up breaking something out of frustration.
I have am unable to access the Internet via my modem and router. My computer recognized the connection from my router. My modem is a Motorola 12DVC. My router is a Linksys Broadband Wireless-B BEFW11S4 version 4. I tried several things, including changes via 192.168.1.1. I am using an AT&T DSL connection. The router has only been used one time.

Is it possible to reflash the firmware on a BEFW11S4 (I believe v1, there is no v# after the model number) with a solid red Diag LED? I cannot access the HTML control panel since the router never fully boots. I git this used and didn't know it was **bleep**..
