I have an E1000 Wireless-N router. I was having trouble with connecting to the internet so I disconnected the main power supply from my E1000 router. When I put it back on, the blue light above the middle button with the double arrows on it came on. It was never on before. The manual says that it indicates a wi-fi connection. I do not have wi-fi.

Somehow in the process of researcing how to add my new laptop to the router, the router quit working and is now just blinking the blue panel lights.I was attempting to download Cisco Connect to my flash drive and instead it began to execute and I aborted that in about 10 seconds.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I came home tonight, the lights on my E1000 hardware version 1 (that I have had for only 9 months) were, as best as I can describe, blinking like a digital clock blinks 12:00 over and over. All of the blue LEDs would light up at once, and go off, repeatedly and rapidly. This is the second time this has happened - the first time (about two weeks ago) I called a techie friend and he had me hard reset the router (30 on 30 off 30 on) and it worked, I just had to set up my wireless network again. This time, I just unplugged the cable from the back of the router, waited about 15 seconds and plugged it back in, and it went back to normal.
In case someone may be wondering, unplugging the from the surge protector did NOT work; when I first noticed the lights blinking, I unplugged it from the surge protector, waited about 10 seconds, and plugged it back in; the lights continued their rapid erratic blinking. I then did what I described above - I plugged it back into the surge protector, and then unplugged it from the back of the router, waited, and plugged it back in and it was back to normal.
I thought perhaps it needed a firmware upgrade, but checking the website, while I was able to locate the site to upgrade the firmware for E1000, I could only see an upgrade for hardware Version 2, and my router is Version 1 - which, from what I understand, is NOT what I want, as that firmware is for a different hardware version and may cause problems on my Version 1 router.
While my router seems to be fine now. Is my router starting to kick the bucket already? I haven't had it that long - bought it last September. Do I need to upgrade any software or firmware for it? If so, where do I get the correct upgrade for my hardware version?
I am on a surge protector and we lost power last night. This morning we were stilling experiencing a brown out but now the power is back 100%. I've walked through the E1000 router reset and not matter what I do, all the lights except the power light blink rapidly and dimly. Could the router be fried even though it's on a surge protector???? It's less than 6 months old so hopefully still covered by warranty.

My EA4500 is not working. The power indicator light is on but the green and yellow lights on the Internet port are not flashing and the modem the EA4500 is connected to show no activity on that port. Also, the EA4500 is not broadcasting so I can't even connect to it to use Cisco Connect to troubleshoot. I tried resetting it but it did nothing. For my desktop PC in oder to use the router to get on the internet or to even use the Cisco Connect to check the router, the E1000 needs to be rebooted. I am unable to access the router otherwise. I have tried 3 different LAN cards all with the same results.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had an E1000 for a couple of years that worked OK. Then it went nuts--sporadically dropped the signal, wouldn't show its web page, etc.--maybe a power surge, who knows? So I tossed it and got a new one on the theory that it would be a plug in replacement .The new unit had a good signal, but also wouldn't show its web page, so I couldn't configure security. I removed Network Magic and everything else I could see pertaining to the old unit. However, the CD for the new unit still gives me: " Your router has already been set up. You need to use an Easy Setup Key that you can use to get other computers connected." Needless to say, I don't have such a thing. Cisco Connect is not installed at this point, so I can't go into it to create one.How can I purge the remains of the old unit so the new one will install properly?

Server is connected at 10.10.10.1 and is DHCP host.I now have E1000 that I want to connect downstream side of the E4200 (located on the other side of the building). I want the E1000 to be an extension of the existing network so the whole building looks like one network. I'm not sure how to configure the E1000. I assume I need to disable NAT but I'm not sure how to configure the Internet IP addresses of the router and nro am I sure how to configure the local network side of the router.As I write this, I wonder if I connect one of the Ethernet ports of the E1000 to the E4200 and just leave the Internet side unplugged?

Its like there is a timer and it reset's the wireless connection after some time. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been searching off and on for the past couple months trying to figure out what we could do to our router to open our NAT, after having both the PS3 and Xbox 360 tell me I've got moderate NAT. I tried a DMZ with my PS3 having a static IP, I tried UPnP. I messed with firewall settings, to no avail.
I recently found something that did work however, on Google. Basically what happened was, I needed to reset the router and change a few settings on top of enabling UPnP I didn't know about(CTS Protection, remote management) how they could have anything to do with translation of data.
But like I said, after doing a huge step by step walk through, I was able to get open NAT in the network tests of both PS3 and 360(even though the PS3 obviously still says Type 2. It used to say Type 2, but it also used to have an error code at the bottom of the page). I've checked in games on each console, and they tell me I've got open NAT.
Now I still have one tiny problem. Red Dead Redemption. I play Red Dead Redemption online with two friends(who, incidentally, have the same router as me), and we haven't been able to communicate if we were using routers. We still can't, but I'm thinking that it's not my router anymore. I'm thinking his router has incorrect settings. Am I correct?
So here is the issue:
When I connect my modem directly to my computer (modem > computer) it works just fine, internet connects and everything through the direct ethernet connection.But when I connect the modem to the router and then try to connect wireless with any other computer (modem > router > wireless) nothing works. Not even when I have it connected directly from the router to the ethernet on the main computer. (Which has ALWAYS worked until now.
my brand new Linksys E1000 wireless router. I am really struggling and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
I live in The Netherlands, have a modem (DSL I think...) and can connect wired through the modem with no problems.
I installed the E1000 with the CD, followed all the steps and my laptop is finding the network. However, it's only local, no internet and I don't understand why. Have tried to connect (wired) my computer to the E1000 and the E1000 to the modem but that doesn't work either.
However, my 13" Macbook (running Lion) sometimes finds if hard to connect after I turn it on. I will have to continously turn off and on the wifi of the macbook to have it force to look at wifi networks. It will not be able to see also other wifi networks which are present in my neighbors which my windows 7 and other machines can see. After playing around with it I found that the macbook will connect to wifi only after I connect it momentarily via cable. I do this everytime I turn on my macbook.I just upgraded to a Macbook Pro running on Lion and the same thing happened. I tried the same solution of connecting first via cable but to my disappointment, would not see any wifi network including my neighbor's which again the other machines can see. So I am stuck with using cable for now.
