So I am trying to forward a port on my linksys E2500 router. I need to forward 198.162.17.3 for a video streaming server. When I go to the admin panel I am only able to change the last digit, ie 198.162.1.x
View 5 RepliesWhen I try to stream a movie through the media server or through my computer to my xbox 360 the video will play fine for a couple minutes then it well get choppy and then the sound will not sync with the picture. I have the latest firmware and reset it also. Tried switching channels and changed mtu didn't do anything. tried steaming on 2 different xboxs and its the same thing.

Was on FIOS with their modem/router combo and port forwarding worked like a charm with them.I've tried single port forwarding, port range forwarding, yada.
I am using the correct internal IP address on the machine I want to enable port forwarding on..Latest firmware is installed 1.04 or whatever (just purchased the router and updated during the Cisco Connect install on the 29th). Guess I should go find a cheaper router that actually works...

On the single port forwarding screen under Gaming, I have put in port 8090 (Ext and Int),Protocal both, an IP address and Enabled. I have also tried putting in a range, but neither seems to work. After forwarding the port, I check with What's My IP Addrewss to get the external IP, then put the IP in a blank browser page with and without the port number. I have tried this several times without any result.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from an E1000 to the E3000 and have run into a couple of problems with my iphone 4s.There are a few applications, BBC iplayer, Sky Go, BBC News and ITV player that wont allow me to watch any of the online video through the iphone. I have iplayer on two other computers running through the same router and they work fine.Every thing worked fine with my old E1000 so I'm taking it that it must be a setting in the router itself somewhere that needs to be altered to allow it to work.

Netflix works decent most of the time, buffering occasionally but Youtube buffers all the time and is not watchable. Using a Netgear WGT624 b/g router located some 60 feet away a half floor upstairs. Internet downstream speed is about 5.5 Mbps on the hard wired main computer and laptops show the same speed when connected wirelessly. Wireless Network Connection Status on a laptop close to the TV show "Very Good to Good" signal strength and Speed at 11 Mbps. Why is the Yotube connection so poor on the TV? The Netflix could be better too. Laptop by the TV streams Neflix and Yotube fine but of course that is not HD. Do I need an upgraded router or powerline network adapter?
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot my E4200 a month ago, and have since been experiencing problems with movie streaming between my server and my Popcorn Hour A110. All kinds of movies stutters randomly and becomes unwatchable. Streaming of the same movie from my server to my laptop (connected wirelessly) causes no stuttering.
I have been doing some troubleshooting and determined that it is not the server's fault (it achieves transfer speeds of 60+ MB/s through Samba). I have also ruled out the possibility that the Popcorn Hour is the faulty component.
Lastly, I just tried switching from the E4200 to my old D-Link DIR-655. This has effectively removed the stuttering, leading me to conclude that it is the E4200's fault.
My computer is a HP Laptop Model Number DV2815EA running windows vista 32 bit. Its a few years old. Recently i have had problems with my wireless adapter turning itself off whenever i watch videos online. It doesn't happen all the time, but if i am watching something for more than an hour it will cut off. There is a blue light and a switch on the front of the laptop, and when the wireless adapter is off, the light changes to red.
The light will change to red sometimes whilst watching video, and the only way i can turn the wireless back on is if i restart the system. Even if i activate and disable the wireless adapter using the external manual switch, or the internal controls using the wireless assistant. Also, not sure if this is relevant but i can no longer either watch videos on full screen as the image gets jolty.
Things i have tried:
1) restoring the system to a previous restore point - i tried this but for some reason the only restore points i could find were ones dated after i started noticing the problem.
2) reinstalling the wireless adapter driver and video card driver.
3) running a full 6 hour antivirus scan - I am using Eset NOD32 antivirus and also i scanned using comodo cleaning essentials.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a new e2500 and it is working fine, all but port forwarding. This is not even close to my first router and I am advanced when it comes to setting these up. I have tried for days to get port 80 to open up and it refuses. Now I do notice that when you access the router setup through a web interface, it uses port 80. I have forwarded port 80 to the ip address of the device, put in a reservation in DHCP with MAC address, etc. etc. and still nothing. Heck, I have even turned that specific device IP into a DMZ, and it STILL will not work.For the record, I had an e2000 set up the exact same way and it worked just fine and I was able to access port 80.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a client offsite with some of our automated equipment. This system is ran by an operator interface. The HMI has a built in web server. I have configured an E2500 to port forward for access to the HMI from outside the local network. It works perfectly.However, what I cant figure out is why I cannot ping the panel on the same public ip address i use to access the built in web server to view the panel remotely.The HMI has a USB pen drive in it which stores data files. This needs to be accessed (via port 21-ftp) remotely as well. Therefore in the port fowarding list 21 has been added with the ip address of the HMI. I type in the public ip just as I would to access the panel remotely (except I use url...) and it will not connect. I even try adding 21 to the end of the ip.

Except one thing: the new router doesn't act as a DNS server on my network. Therefore, my network shares do not reconnect and I cannot ping the machines using their network name, only their IP addresses. Running ipconfig /all shows 192.168.2.1 as my default gateway and DHCP server, but not as a DNS server. I'm positive that my "old" WRT54GL was acting as my DNS server
I have just upgraded my Linksys router from an older one to the E-2500 about a week ago. Everything is working great on my wired desktop and 3 wireless laptops except the printer will no longer work from any of the computers. I've checked the printer wireless settings and they are correct (ssid and password) and it says it's connected to the wlan. Each of the computers shows the printer is active and set to default BUT the port light on the back of the new router is not on. I have changed cables and still no light, the printer is set up for sharing and it did work a couple days ago but port light was on then.
I have not added anything that wasn't hooked up on my old router, I"m just trying to get what I had on the old router to work on the new one. Everytime I call support, they have me change something that messes up what a previous agent had me do. Now they want me to pay for a direct connection so they can upgrade my router firmware...they didn't even ask what version I already had which happen to be the same version that is available on [URL] so if I had agreed, I would have paid for nothing. I had already paid $29.99 for additional 14 day support on my old router only to find out I needed a new one.
I've been using Linksys routers for quite awhile but I'm just about ready to change brands. I would really like to give this E-2500 a chance.
My home web hosting used to work. But because of changing ISP from Verizon to TWC, TWC gave me a modem-router and I bought my own Linksys E2500 router. Both Verizon and TWC services I subscribed are Dynamic IP. I use a third party to redirect the web traffic to my home.TWC gave me a simple modem-router in a box. Input is coax and outputs are 4 ethernet ports. I use one of the 4 ethernet outputs of the TWC box to connect to the internet ethernet input port of the E2500. All my wire and wireless devices are now feeding off the E2500. All wireless and wired devices work and can browse internet through the E2500.I have assigned one computer as the web server and set the internal IP addess of this computer as 192.168.1.128. This is the same for the setup with Verizon before.I loaded the CD came with the E2500 router and can see the LAN 192.168.1.128.My problem starts from here, I do not know how to set the port in E2500 to make the web traffic to 192.168.1.1281. Using the E2500 CD, I click to "APPLICATION AND GAMING", then "SINGLE PORT FORWARDING". under the APPLICATION NAME, I select one of the box to HTTP and type in 128 under "TO IP ADDRESS". I then click ENABLED, then "save settings" . The 192.168.1 is fixed in this window, I can only type 128.This does not work. I can browse internet but cannot access my website from any machines using domain name.Then I tried:2. with item 1 above, I continued to do SETUP>>BASIC SETUP>>DHCP RESEVERSATION. I can see the compute/sever name and the 192.168.1.128. I then click the "select" and save the client.I restarted the computer/server, I unplug and plug the E2500 power. I check the server internal IP address and it is still the same. But I just cannot browse to my website. I can browse other places.

The only way I seem to be able to open a port is if I enable remote management. When I do that, whatever port I specifiy as the remote management port is then fully open. Obviously, I can't leave a port exposed like this and, anyway, I need to open multiple ports for my purposes.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy first issue with this device is when I try to untick NAT to disable it I lose my internet connection. This also disables access to router's address 192.168.1.1 forcing me to reset the device and set it up all over again. Why is this happening? I tried this at least five times with the same result. Second question I have is if the DHCP reservation is the right option if I want to forward ports for certain applications like Vuze? When the DHCP reservation window opens I see all my wireless devices in the list (laptop, phone) but not the main computer which is connected through ethernet port. But that is yet another problem.
I've got a cable modem, connection is set to Automatic DHCP and I all want is to disable all firewalls, NAT and other unnecessary protection that's slowing my internet speed, set up MAC address filtering, port forwarding and close this terrible software so I never have to see it or think about it ever again.
I just bought a WRT120N wireless router, and have run into some strange problems with port forwarding. I have a two router setup, because my ISP have set it up so i can only use my router from them to get my connection, and then i just have that one connected to my WRT120N. So my setup looks like the following:
The problem is that ONLY the three first ports works. I have forwarded them in the exact same manner, give it a name, put in the same external and internal port, and enable the port forwarding, but according ot can you seeme.org, only 4667, 6112, and 4669 can be seen, the rest is not responding. I even tried to enable port 21, which is a default setting in the router, but it will just not work.I have of course tried to reboot both router and PC, upgraded the routers firmware, but no luck.
I'm a happy user of the E4200 for a few weeks now, and all in all it's a very robust and useful router.Within my network I have a webserver running using both HTTP (TCP 80) and HTTPS (TCP 443). I want to make this webserver available to the internet and so I configure port forwarding to forward port TCP 80 and TCP 443 to my internal webserver. As soon as I now apply these settings, I loose connection to the webinterface of the E4200 and get connected to my internal webserver. I would expect the router would only forward connections coming in through the external interface of the router, however this is apparently not the case (or at least not in my setup). So I tried setting up remote management on a different port to at least allow me to remotely manage the router, but this does not work from my internal network.
Right now, I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, or have miss-configured something. Is it possible to switch the webadmin port to a different port (like 8080 and 8443)?
