My laptop (win7) can connect to wireless, but not Local Area Connection. This is the capture of my device manager, it reported that the driver of ip6 failure.but I do not think ip6 relates.I tried configuring a static IP address, reinstalling network driver, or disabling and enabling network cards.
I have a Dell desktop with Windows XP Home Edition. I recently restored the computer to factory settings and when I tried connecting to the internet the Local Area Connection wasn't showing in My Network Places. I have been searching through other forums and tried the things that they suggested but nothing worked. I am trying to connect to an AT&T U-verse 2Wire router through a wired connection. I tried connecting both wirelessly and wired to another computer and everything worked fine. I checked the Device Manager and there is an ! mark next to the Ethernet Controller. The properties say that the drivers for that device aren't installed. And of course I can't install them since I can't access the internet. Other forums suggested that I check the network adapters option in Device Manager but that isn't available in the device manager.
My error message states that "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Registering with DNS".I have no internet connection on my HP PC, which is why I am typing this on my laptop. On the HP I am running windows xp with sp3.I connect to a cable modem provide by Time Warner. This problem started yesterday, so I have been utilizing both computers with one internet connection, or plugging and unplugging the cat5 cable.I have run Microsoft Essential Full scan, as well as Malwarebytes's Anti-malware.Now I ran both of those in Safe mode, and picked up no bugs. I have Avast as my antivirus software, and the message I receive on that is that "Avast will not be able tp protect mail/news (error 10050). I am unable to turn on the web shields for Avast.I have manually entered the IP addresses into my HP from my laptop, all the way thru DNS servers. It still won't connect.I tried using the Internet explorer diagnostic tool, and it came back and said that I have a winsock issue.
1. Internet works ok, everything is fine, but then it stops working for no reason.
2. I open Network and Sharing Center, and do diagnostics. They come up with result: "the default gateway is not available". Nothing works. But Local Area Connection and Network Controller are both enabled.
3. I have to restart computer for the internet to work again. However, it doesn't restart: it hangs forever in "shutting down" screen, and nothing happens. Probably because computer is still trying to connect to the internet (?)
4. After forced restart, internet doesn't work, but if I run diagnostics again, they come up with result: "The Local Area Connection adapter is disabled", and fixes it automatically. Internet works then.
I have xp pro sp3 i also connect thru fios since i restarted my computer last evening i can't connect this computer was put together for me so no original disks under network connections there is no lan connection can't use system restore tried ipconfig but says internal error and thats all when i try safe mode i see all of the network adapters but i don't see it in regular boot.
I am having this same issue. Except under Network Adapters, I don't have a yellow question mark. I have a amd Athlon(tm) 64x2 dual core processor and operate with windows XP professional service pack 2. my other computer (this pc im using) i have no problem with the connection I can to the the Internet
howdy,im having trouble with my LAC.it just keeps identifying.i have tried everything,uninstall/reinstall, netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset,disable/enable.windows diagnostics comes back with invalid ip address, and modem hardware failure.device manager lists the network adapter as working, yet it doesn't here's my ipconfig[CODE]
I got a used computer from my relatives. When i enable my local area connection then it says aqcuiring ip adress for a while. Eventually it stops trying and says network cable unplugged. It worked fine at my relatives place, but not at my place.
I've been trying to set my IP to a static IP so I can host servers for a few different games and every time I change the IPV4 settings my internet stops working and when I troubleshoot it says "DHCP Not enabled for local area connection.".
I am trying to set up a wifi hotspot with my wireless adaptor. The connection between my ipod and the wireless adaptor in my computer seems to be working fine, but it doesn't connect further to the local area connection (ethernet).I tried to bridge the two networks but it doesn't work I get the error message "An unexpected error occurred while configuring the network bridge"[CODE]
I am using an ethernet cable to connect my desktop to a Linksys router but I am getting the following message "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid ip configuration.I have connected to other routers so I do not believe that the card is at fault. So far I have tried the following:
Swapping ethernet cables Connecting to router connecting to modem power cycling router/modem/computer downloading new driver
my computer is custom made and it has been running just fine until recently. Usually when turn on my computer and login, my computer is connect to the internet. However recently I have not been able to connect with the local area connection and i'm currently on wireless connection. When i'm not using wireless my internet doesn't connect and I can't check my router by typing 192.168.1.1. I have a Linksys WRT54G and i'm using Vista SP2. I don't like using wireless at all and I want my connection to go back to normal[CODE]
I decided to connect my PC to the router VIA Ethernet cable because I got this really long ethernet cable and the router is pretty far so the signal is weak and I want to fix that, so It used to work before until I formatted my PC, now when I go into the internet drivers I do not see any Local Area Connection driver that I can enable.
I recently hooked my computer back up after moving and the Internet is not working. After going through the troubleshooting steps it gives the message local area connection does not have valid ip configuration. I have a net gear router and the wifi works fine on my phone and laptop.
I had my computer hooked up to the internet thru a wireless adapter and it broke so trying to hook it up thru a direct connection Ethernet cord into my router but its not working been giving me a couple answers to the problem one being that the local area connection doesn't have a valid up configuration and one other that hasn't popped up recently for me to write down but I've been searching all kinds of forums and trying all the usual problem fixers but I don't have a disk to reboot my operating system or anything and can't restore to previous settings cause the person I bought it from had it set to not make a back up recovery file I was thinking it might have something to do with the wireless adapter being installed but I can't find anywhere to uninstall that or change my settings off of a wireless adaptor situation... What should I do?
I have tried renewing my ip address from the cmd prompt i have tried ipconfig/release, ipconfig/flushdns,ipconfig/renew and it didnt work my connection still keeps on going back to limited or no connectivity my DHCP is connected and i have default gateway ip i can get good connectivity if i reset the router by unplugging it but it still goes back?
the problem is with the wired connection, sometimes I have a good connection and then I will lose the connection to the network and after I run Windows Network Diagnostics it re-establishes the connection and says that the problem is that 'the default gateway is not available'.
I am now using my dell optiplex 755, with windows xp sp3. I usually acess internet on Wi-Fi, and now I have travelled, and got my laptop with me. The internet here is Local Are Connection, the one with the cable, and it says I am connected, 100 Mbps, but no internet access! I can't browse or open anything that has to do with the internet... However, It works perfectly fine on EVERY other laptop. I've searched a lot of places and I've been told to write commands like ipconfig/ all andd netsh int ip reset.log but when I do that I get "The following command was not found : int ip reset.log" I set the properties in TCP/IP to Automatically detect settings .. but nothing.
