View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get my Sony VAIO to connect to the Internet via wireless or ethernet. It was working fine and then suddenly lost all Internet connectivity. Under the status it says "connected with limited access." I have an iPad and my smartphone running on the network so I know it's not a network issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently experiencing an issue where the on/off switch to my Sony Vaio VPCCW21FX is currently a little bit loose. I don't recall ever applying any type of shock to the computer but realized when I pulled it out of my bag, it was somewhat loose which was strange because I always handled my laptop with great care. So I'm attempting to connect to my WiFi network and when trying to turn it on and off, I don't get a response from the computer indicating it's now ready to search for a network, it acts like I intentionally turned off the WiFi and kept it off even though I have it turned to off.
I attempted to run the troubleshooting process on the laptop but it states that I need to turn on my WiFi to fix the issue but I already have it switched to on.
Now I know at this time that I wouldn't be able to get this repaired without being charged an arm and a leg so I wanted to see if it was possible to turn on the WiFi from within the laptop, somewhat like using software to turn it on instead of the hardware on/off switch for the wireless connection.
I have a problem with getting the internet wirelessly, since having my router changed I can only get internet with a ethernet cable,on my Sony Vio, if this makes any sense the WLAN is working but the LAN is not enabled, I have tried to connect to a network but without any luck, I come up with a message about a network adapter not working & a unidentified internet access ,the router is not at fault as my other laptop works perfectly well on wireless. I have Vista O.S
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically when I try and connect to my wifi (netgear router) I get a very strong signal but local only access & an unidentified network. I have my desktop & 2 more laptops running off this router so it can't be that. After failing to connect to wifi I tried to use an ethernet connection to try and update my drivers in hope that would fix the wifi problem. After plugging the ethernet in I was in exactly the same position, I kept getting 'Identifying' appear in network connections which then turned to unidentified and wouldn't allow me to connect to the internet either! The laptop is about 3-4 years old I think so I did update the drivers but that didn't do anything either,

View 6 Replies View Relatedwe have 3 laptops connected to our home network, 2 Gateways and my Sony Vaio. We have AT&T U-Verse and the 2 gateways get speeds of ~12Mb/s while I get speeds of less than 3Mb/s. I've searched countless forums but I can't seem to find the problem. We got U-verse installed in January and the internet on my laptop was on par with the other ones. But I went back to school and came back home for break and it's as slow as mollases.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a year-old Sony Vaio laptop which connected to the internet without any problems on my BT Homehub connection. However, I recently moved in with my girlfriend who has a Virgin media connection and, although I can connect to it without problems, it is extremely slow (around 0.30 mbps) whereas my girlfriend's laptop is fine (9.74 mbps), we both have iPhones which are also fine therefore I'm pretty certain the problem lies with my laptop. I have tried updating the wireless card's drivers (windows tells me they are up to date) and I've also tried disabling my Norton 360 but it didn't make any difference.

View 14 Replies View RelatedNew laptop, Sony Vaio. At first it started having problems holding a wireless internet connection (kept dropping) now it won't connect at all, wirelessly.I have a Dlink DIR 625 modem which was working perfectly. I bought a new one, thinking this was the issue. Same thing happened. Contacted my ISP, they said the modem was fine (even came out to confirm). It is a Scientific Atlanta modem. Contacted Sony and their tech did a lot of R.C to my laptop and tried a number of things. They couldn't solve it, thought it was a hardware issue (loose wire in the network card) so they had me bring it out of town to be fixed. I did that, they said it wasn't hardware that it was software and that it was working in their store. I got it home and it still didn't work.To be on the safe side, I swapped out the modem and got a new one. Still not working. I followed instructions in previous forums to do a 'stack reset' and it still didn't resolve my issue.I updated the network drivers from Sony's site, disabled AVG firewall entirely and it still doesn't work. I can connect now only by hard line connection but even still it drops. [code]
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop computer, Sony VAIO laptop, and a Motorola router. The computers are both running Windows 7 Professional. The desktop computer is running 32 bit Windows and the Laptop 64 bit.
My network appears to be Windows Homegroup which got setup after a crash of the desktop. Previously, I ran a network setup with Motorolas tech support and it ran fine (before crash and reinstall on desktop computer). I had access back and forth between both computers. I would rather not run Windows Homegroup but it looks like I am stuck with it if there is no way to remove it and resinstall another network or unless I can have two networks on my computer.
The error message that I get when trying access my laptop from the desktop is
"Windows cannot access \name-VAIOackups You do not have permission to access \name-VAIOackups"
I have set file sharing on both computers and am running all files as administrator. How can I regain access between these computers?
I already uninstalled norton internet security also. Im using a sony vaio windows vista intel pentium dual cpu T2330 @1.60Ghz with ram of 1014 Mb and a system type of 32-bit Operating System.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought a new Sony Vaio VPCSB 490 X Laptop. I should preface this with the fact that my old vaio i had to get rid of because it stopped connecting to any wireless networks (among other reasons.) I had it looked at and was told the wireless card was broken.
My problem with the new one is that i can only get limited connectivity to the network, even though all other wireless devices in the house are fine. Here's the ip configuration i brought up when the computer was connected to the router with an ethernet cord:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a brand new Sony Vaio laptop VPCEH2. I have tried to connect wirelessly to my Netgear router (DG934G). The router and broadband is supplied by Sky. The laptop is running Windows 7. The router is sending a wireless sending fine to our desktop and two smartphones but the Vaio is unable to connect.
The Vaio finds the signal which is says is excellent but does not connect. Using an ethernet cable the internet connection is fine. I have been on the phone to Sky for nearly 2 hours across two nights and they have given up. We have tried setting up a new router password, disconnecting and reconnecting, establishing a connection in the Network and Sharing Cente using WPA security with no joy. I asked them if the router needed a firmware upgrade for Windows 7 and they were adamant that it did not - the firmware version is currently V2.02.44. I have checked the Windows 7 compatibility listings for Netgear routers but couldn't find the DG934G (or the DG834GT - which I believe is a newer version), listed.
The funny thing is that when Sky create a wireless connection in the sharing centre is did work for around 30 seconds where I was able to access around 5/6 webpages. The browser then stopped working and the connection was lost (with yellow warning triangle across the signal to bottom right of screen). Another thing to note was that Sky originally blamed the fault on a McAfee update. I looked into this and deinstalled McAfee and even spoke to them for a while and they confirmed that it had deinstalled and did some other tests and said it was definitely not their software causing the problem.
