The internet connection on my laptop does not work correctly when connected to lan ,but it works fine for the WIFI.i checked the internet connection ,it works fine in other computes.most of the time the connection through lan is not recognized. sometimes it works fine for 1 day and does not work for another day.

The only way I seem to be able to get connected to the internet now is to run a cable to my ethernet switch, and then onwards to my computer itself. Even when doing this the net seems to be very slow, won't connect through Chrome etc or just flat out won't connect.

However, one of the other big problems we have is connectivity of our ethernet cables. We have an IT room with 2 switches that feed ethernet cables to all parts of the house and connect to an ethernet box in the wall where we can simply wire in our internet connection. We have wireless routers too but to keep the bandwidth usage across the WAP's I want to let people use the wired connections. However, many of the connection in the house do not work at all. I plug in my laptop to the wall jack and it gives me the No Internet Access notice. I don't understand why it works in some rooms and not others. All jacks seem to go into the same switches at the other end so I cannot figure out what the problem could be.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are setting up a network in our new house. We have the internet entering the garage. From there we have a 60 ft Cat 5 cables run through the crawl space. Orginally we had the wireless router attached to the end of the cat 5 and then attached to the computer. We could not get a connection through this wire. We then took out the cable, and ran a new one, same issue. We took the same cable, cut it down to 25 feet, installed the router in the garage and we have an excellant connection. We then ran a new wire through the crawl space from the router. Same issue, no connectivity. Taking that cable out, cutting it down we ran the wires from the router to our computers in the garage. why a Cat5 cable would not work at 60Ft.?

I've done the Recovery Console and performed the Windows Registry repairs. I've even reformatted the computer, but to no avail at all. And I've done all the basic troubleshooting and surfed forums for way too long and found no solutions.
So this is kind of a last ditch effort. It still connects to the internet via an ethernet cord, so all is not completely lost, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a netbook without having wireless connectivity.
My Internet connection works completely fine when all I have is my laptop connected to the wifi, but when my desktop also connects to the internet, than my laptop's internet doesn't work at all until i shut the desktop down.

Ever since the very first boot up, the wireless card (TP-Link, unable to find model currently, will add later) only works on the second consecutive boot up. I have no idea why, I have not found anything relating to a problem like this, the computer doesn't even appear to know that there is a wireless card in it. Instead the icon shows a cable, suggesting that the computer isn't connecting with the card.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using an 802.11 b/g USB wireless network adapter card with my computer to use in conjunction with an AT&T 2Wire router,which is about 20 or 30 feet away off in another room.After about 10 minutes on average, the adapter will stop transferring data suddenly, and it will stay that way for a while. If I do nothing, then sometimes it will start up again after several more minutes, but instead of waiting, I usually will select "Repair" from the Wireless Network Connection pop-up menu, which also works to get it started again. The problem though, naturally, is that after another little while, like about 10 minutes again, it will short out all over again. Sometimes, very rarely, it will stay working for up to maybe an hour, and sometimes, it can short out yet again within a few seconds.

My laptop connects to the internet through this router using wireless and for test purposes through the ethernet port. I installed a new network card {Dynex DX-E102 PCI NetworkAdaptor}in the desktop. When i'm enabling either the old or new card through Control Panel, Network Connections, i get the message "acquirin network address,Firewalled".and it never enables. That is, it is still displayed as 'working properly' in the device management screen, but it is unable to connect to dns. System restore does not solve this problem. plugging the ethernet cable in and out (10 times) does not solve this problem. Modem reset does not solve this problem either. I decided that perhaps ethernet controller is faulty, or perhaps the ethernet port in itself- so I bought a 'usb to ethernet' adaptor and surprisingly the internet connection problem persisted (during the instances when my laptop ethernet port had problems connecting to DNS, the adaptor was also unable to connect to internet).
What does solve this problem is this: I have another notebook - I plug the ethernet cable into that computer. Obviously, internet works without any problems with my second notebook. After that, I plug the ethernet cable back into the laptop which is now unable to connect to DNS. Quite often the Not being able to connect to DNS issue still remains the first time I do this, so I have to connect ethernet cable back into my second notebook and then plug it back into the notebook with a connectivity problem. After I do this 2 or 3 times, my windows 7 laptop is finally able to connect to internet.
It may be a coincidence but my Broadcom Network Adapter 802.11g stopped working after trying to fix 'unknown device' in Device Manager (It was working perfectly before this).OS: Windows 7 Starter on 'BenQ Joybook Lite U105'.I tried the Windows Network trouble shooter and it didn't work (saying there may be a problem with the driver. I uninstalled the driver and re-installed it (including a possibly newer one) and it didn't work. Within 'Network Connections" the Broadcom wireless adapter is shown as 'disabled' I R-clicked to enable it, a window popped up saying it was enabled but it still showed as being disabled. My feeling is that something is preventing it from being enabled, logically, I would guess. Also went to 'Component Services' and ether started or restarted everything with the word network on it still no luck..My Google search on an other pc , now on day 3, couldn't find anything. (BTW the 'unknown device' which according to the icon, seems to be the joybook itself, is still not fixed and still listed as 'unknown device').

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently experiencing an issue where the on/off switch to my Sony Vaio VPCCW21FX is currently a little bit loose. I don't recall ever applying any type of shock to the computer but realized when I pulled it out of my bag, it was somewhat loose which was strange because I always handled my laptop with great care. So I'm attempting to connect to my WiFi network and when trying to turn it on and off, I don't get a response from the computer indicating it's now ready to search for a network, it acts like I intentionally turned off the WiFi and kept it off even though I have it turned to off.
I attempted to run the troubleshooting process on the laptop but it states that I need to turn on my WiFi to fix the issue but I already have it switched to on.
Now I know at this time that I wouldn't be able to get this repaired without being charged an arm and a leg so I wanted to see if it was possible to turn on the WiFi from within the laptop, somewhat like using software to turn it on instead of the hardware on/off switch for the wireless connection.
