i have a Dell inspiron 1520, the ethernet port has stopped working- no lights when cable connected. this was fine and then just stopped, it is used to connect to hub from time to time when wifi goes down. have tried 3 different cables, no joy, these all work in another laptop. No issues shown in control panel/ hardware. Have downloaded driver from Dell site, still nothing.

Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. So there is no problem as such it is just annoying to keep getting this message when Windows starts up.I have checked on the DELL Support website and I do have the most up-to-date driver already (Or I think I do).

I was having a cleanup of the desk and unplugged the cable shortly, and after plugging it back in it could no longer find any connection. The only way I seem to be able to get connected to the internet now is to run a cable to my ethernet switch, and then onwards to my computer itself. Even when doing this the net seems to be very slow, won't connect through Chrome etc or just flat out won't connect.

My laptop connects to the internet through this router using wireless and for test purposes through the ethernet port. I installed a new network card {Dynex DX-E102 PCI NetworkAdaptor}in the desktop. When i'm enabling either the old or new card through Control Panel, Network Connections, i get the message "acquirin network address,Firewalled".and it never enables. I ran Malwarebytes and no infections were found. I use AVG anti-virus and Internet Explorer.

I uninstalled the driver and re-installed it (including a possibly newer one) and it didn't work. Within 'Network Connections" the Broadcom wireless adapter is shown as 'disabled' I R-clicked to enable it, a window popped up saying it was enabled but it still showed as being disabled. My feeling is that something is preventing it from being enabled, logically, I would guess. Also went to 'Component Services' and ether started or restarted everything with the word network on it still no luck..My Google search on an other pc , now on day 3, couldn't find anything. However, one of the other big problems we have is connectivity of our ethernet cables. We have an IT room with 2 switches that feed ethernet cables to all parts of the house and connect to an ethernet box in the wall where we can simply wire in our internet connection. We have wireless routers too but to keep the bandwidth usage across the WAP's I want to let people use the wired connections. However, many of the connection in the house do not work at all. I plug in my laptop to the wall jack and it gives me the No Internet Access notice. I don't understand why it works in some rooms and not others. All jacks seem to go into the same switches at the other end so I cannot figure out what the problem could be.

That is, it is still displayed as 'working properly' in the device management screen, but it is unable to connect to dns. System restore does not solve this problem. plugging the ethernet cable in and out (10 times) does not solve this problem. Modem reset does not solve this problem either. I decided that perhaps ethernet controller is faulty, or perhaps the ethernet port in itself- so I bought a 'usb to ethernet' adaptor and surprisingly the internet connection problem persisted (during the instances when my laptop ethernet port had problems connecting to DNS, the adaptor was also unable to connect to internet).
What does solve this problem is this: I have another notebook - I plug the ethernet cable into that computer. Obviously, internet works without any problems with my second notebook. After that, I plug the ethernet cable back into the laptop which is now unable to connect to DNS. Quite often the Not being able to connect to DNS issue still remains the first time I do this, so I have to connect ethernet cable back into my second notebook and then plug it back into the notebook with a connectivity problem. After I do this 2 or 3 times, my windows 7 laptop is finally able to connect to internet.
Just restarted my Inspiron 1521 and what i see is NO Connection icon.Device manager does not show Dell and Microsoft adapter.

I have the latest driver (6.2.0.9603), and now, when i try to install it again it asks me to turn the BT on, although it is on (enabled in BIOS). When I check the device manager under bluetooth radios, it's called "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" and it's status is "This device cannot start (code 10)". The bluetooth icon doesn't appear in the task bar nor in control panel anymore.
The bluetooth services @ administrative tools are "started" and "automatic".
I had this problem twice before, fixed it using system restore and by installing "windows mobile device center". These solutions are not working now..

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 1520 which, approximately once per day, is losing the network connection. Basically I can be right in the middle of something then all of a sudden anything internet related (eg browser, email, skype, other software) stops working, and then a few seconds later the little globe disappears from my network icon at the bottom of my screen.
The only way to get my connection back is to reboot my computer. I've tried the "repair connection" tool, but that doesn't work. I've tried waiting, but that is futile (and impractical)
This happens whether I am directly attached to the router via cable, or I am going through wireless.
Other devices are unaffected at the time. It is only my computer that loses the connection. The two phones, two other laptops, desktop and tablet all remain connected. (Hmmm - I seem to have far too many devices!)
Do I have a failing part? Or is this maybe a software issue? I'm thinking perhaps it is software because after a reboot everything returns to normal and the problem tends to go away for 24 hours or so.

In one post I read someone provided an ip address, subnet mask, default gateway, and a preferred DNS server code that I typed in which then showed that I was connected with wifi but still says authenticating on the WLAN card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 ultimate 32bit on my Inspiron 1520 and everything works brilliantly except the bluetooth!I downloaded the drivers from the dell website, for vista 32bit, when I try to install the driver it says "Press Fn+F2 or turn on the wireless switch".
The wireless switch is already on, and I press Fn+F2 and nothing happened. The driver worked fine on Vista Home Premium 32bit.
I recently received the blue screen of death on my labtop so I used the system restore cd and wiped the entire hard drive clean. Afterwards I knew to extract the drivers from the drivers and utilities cd. I extraced the wlan card since this is what has been controlling my wireless at school and everywhere else. The little tower icon doesn't appear in my task box on the bottom of the screen nor is it anywhere where I can enable it. The only place I see the driver is in the add/remove folder in the control panel. Furthermore the blue light doesn't appear when I flip the switch to the on position.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's a Dell Inspiron N4050, running Windows 7 Home Basic, Service Pack 1. I haven't been able to connect to the internet via an ethernet cable nor wirelessly. The wireless indicator is on (duh!) and the ethernet cable works with a PC sitting next to the laptop. I have a ARRIS modem (yes, the third world) and it works fine wirelessly with other devices here such as phones and laptops. When I plug in the ethernet cable it tells me that it can't identify the network. I do see all the wireless connections but it's the same, unable to identify network. I've tired all sorts of things, having studied computer science myself I'm not a total beginner, but the OS is in Spanish so it's really hard to make sense of things. If I can't fix this soon I will be forced to reformat the computer. The pros of doing that is that I will get the OS in English and lose all the rubbish Dell pre-installs on their products. The setback is that I won't have the drivers installed for the NIC and other things (although they should be on the optical disc that came with the notebook). Perhaps the problem is the modem, maybe I need a driver for it. Somehow I don't think that is the case because I brough my own hard drive from my country of origin and I put it inside the PC and it connected instantly with the internet via the modem.

After messing with it for a few hours decided best to just reformat and fix it that way. After a fresh reformat (Vista Home Premium) we get the exact same issue, with a clean install. All other computers connect with no issue, this one doesn't wireless or wired, just "local only"

There were no drivers specified for Windows 7 in Dell Driver Download so I installed Vista drivers, connected to internet via LAN Cable and upgraded most of the drivers.
WiFI networks could be detected when installed for the first time but after a shutdown it never detects again. Sometimes it randomly detects, I tried using the laptop for 2 weeks now and only 2 times the WiFI automatically came up.
There is a switch to pull after turning on WiFI radio, which will display the list of WiFi networks in a window, that Switch is not responding now.
i have installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my Inspiron 1520 (Clean installation). The OS is working fine and most of the Drivers are working properly. The Wireless LAN is installed but the sometimes wireless networks are not detecting until the computer and access point are restarted several times. I was missing some network adapters which I have reinstalled, and the hard wired connection is now working again, but wireless will not get past the acquiring network address phase. I tried the ipconfig /all and it shows my IP address as 0.0.0.0 and the same on the subnet mask. it says the autoconfig is enabled and dhcp is enabled. My HP laptop is connecting to the wireless network just fine.
