I just downloaded the INTEL_825XX-GIGABIT-PLATFORM_A06_R290983.exe (5MB). I don't know if this is it. I will try on Monday. Should I update the chipset driver too? What is the driver for that. I downloaded Intel_AMT-HECI_A05_R304259.exe (10MB). Is that right for the chipset?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Optiplex 780 running Windows XP and a wireless router model 7500 from Verizon. I recently bought this desktop and want to use my old one so the kids can play games on it. However I can't connect to the internet with the old system. I tried running a USB cable from the wireless modem to the old system to no avail. I tried hooking up a wireless-G Broadband router by Linksys to the wireless router and that didn't work. Does there have to be some wifi hardware/software on these desktops? [code]

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently I got a brand new E1200 to replace Apple Extreme Base station for my home wireless network. The router deployed just fine except one weird problem. While all devices (desktops, laptops, cell phones, iPad) can access the router, one desktop (Dell Optiplex DX280) cannot see the router at all. The router network, even with default SSID, does not even show in the wireless network list, no matter how many times the list is refreshed. The wireless adapter (Dell TrueMobile 1300 USB2.0) is fine, since it picks up the router SSID when connected to another desktop. The stubborn desktop works just fine with previous Apple router and can see many networks around, like neighbors' networks. Thinking that some other previously installed software interferes with seeing the router SSID, I completely wiped and reformatted HD and reinstalled fresh copy of WinXP - still the same result, the desktop works just fine with the Apple router, but still cannot see E1200 SSID. The router was reset to factory defaults and all access restrictions were removed. While all the devices see the default SSID and can conncet to the router with no problems, the stubborn desktop keep completely ignoring it.
Again, every single component - desktop (Optiplex DX280), wireless USB adapter (TrueMobile 1800 USB2.0), routers (both Apple and Cisco) are functioning normally otherwise. It is the combination of Optiplex GX280 - TrueMobile 1300 - Cisco E1200 that does not work.
I'm on a large network in my office and we recieved new computers(dell optiplex 390) I'm trying to access a mysqlexpress database on my machine from another one and I'm not able to even access the computer using \MYCOMPUTER method with the same user/pass as my machine on the one I'm trying to connect from. But still no one in my office can reach my computer.
My av is OfficeScan.
I've tried:
+ Disabling the firewall(windows no other firewall in place).
+ Checking network settings
+ enabling sharing settings
+ allowing anonymous connections via the regestry value
+ yelling at the machine.
+ adding users to the Aministrators group.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed a fresh Windows XP Pro on my Optiplex gx270 last week. Everything was fine but now I cannot get an internet connection. I followed all the steps on the dell support web site for the windows reinstall, putting all the drivers on in the correct order, all from my original resource CD. Then downloaded the new recommended driver for my service tag from the dell site, and still no ethernet controller driver is found (a yellow question mark with an exclamation mark on top in windows device manager). Tried a couple of times with the dell online chat, but was disconnected right away. Then spent another 1+ hour on the phone with dell tech support this morning. After uninstalling and reinstalling the same drivers I had previously installed, they apparently had no other suggestions and disconnected me. So I'm left with what was a pretty decent machine that is incapable of connecting to the internet.

I am taking a camera class, everyone sits a desk with a fairly new Optiplex 780, with Windows 7 pro on them and 20 inch Dell Professional monitors.I want to be able to setup something easily so the teacher can share his screen on all of the computers in the class, the projector is terrible.Net Meeting does not exist. Vista had Windows MeetingSpace which would have been absolutely perfect. Windows 7 has SharedView, which is discontinued, is a separate download, and has to be used over the internet with a windows live login. Is there some VNC, free app out there that the teacher can put on his laptop, and have everyone connect to? Over the lan? There are many web-based options, but that probably be slow.
I can use the Bomgar and work and host a presentation, which is what I will probably do, but I have a feeling it is going to suck up a ton of bandwidth and run like crap. We want to display examples of photography in full color. He of course doesn't even know of these plans. But I want to utilize these computers we are sitting at.Could I bring in a Vista laptop, start a MeetingSpace, and have the Windows 7 computers connect to it?
Very soon for the second time we will be replacing systems in our (grad school) student computer Lab from the time of its opening in January, 1998. The monitors are recessed down below glass desk surfaces and are 17-inch CRT (Dell). Our current (medium) computers are SFF GX-150 and have 512MB RAM (doubled from the original 256) and 80 GB hard drives. The new GX620 will have 2GB RAM, 160MB hard drive. In addition, our current 10/100 Ethernet LAN for this part of the campus is also supposed to be upgraded to Gigabit (switch). Any experience of using Gigabit in an organization's local area network to find out any concerns for which I should be alert as we begin this new phase. Incoming students arrive before middle of August so the switch-out needs to be done fairly quickly and smoothly. What concerns should I have?

My configuration gives me an error message saying I need drivers for my PCI Ethernet Controller, however, it has not identified the manufacturer or the driver.
I see a lot of postings about getting the GX270 working with a ghost boot floppy.
Dell Optiplex GX270 Onboard Intel LOM (Intel 1000 Pro) and Ghost 8.0 Corporate Edition using a Ghost Console Boot Partition.I'm using identical Intel Drivers on both the floppy and the Boot Partition. It works from the floppy(only using PC-DOS however).
When started from the ghost console boot partition it pauses after displaying the MAC address of the card which after a few minutes it displays an error message "command interpreter missing (command.com)".
I've gotten the scenario to work with a Broadcom Gigabit Extreme network card, haven't tried this with an Intel Pro 1000 NIC (as opposed to the onboard NIC) to eliminate the driver as the culprit. I suspect this might have something to do with the SATA configuration.and no, the -FNI or the -NOIDE switch will not work in this situation as the *.exe that starts on the boot partition is ngctdos.exe and not ghost.exe.Which, I'm assuming is the app that listens for instructions from the Ghost Console.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell Studio 540. It is presently plugged into a wired router via an Ethernet cable. However according to the documentation I should also have a wireless card fitted. It should have the following fitted:
Wireless Network Card 1505 PCIe 802.11n
How I find out this information.
I just got a XPS 14z. The wireless signal isn't consistent and it is weaker than my old XPS 1330. It's actually painfully slow. Every thing is exactlly the same. I have my old computer next to the new computer and the wireless signal is working much better on the old computer. Pages are loading more quickly on the older model. Howothers wireless is performing on their 14z? There is nothing wrong with the router or internet connection.
