View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes the router has too many devices connected to it and the other people living with me don't understand this so they keep their iPhones, iPads, laptops, et cetera connected via WiFi even though I tell them to turn off the WiFi setting when they're not using it. So it kicks me off constantly, not sure why, but I don't mind too much. Basically when I'm "connected" but not really connected I remotely reset the router so I don't have to walk upstairs all the time.
I've reset it without troubles before. But did it tonight and now it's completely screwed up. I run a windows diagnostics test and it comes up with: "Wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration."

Why do my laptop can only detect the wireless connection when its placed beside the router? Other computer can detect the connection although it is far from the router. I'm using acer aspire 4920, windows 7.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently bough an Acer Aspire 5733z notebook set it up yesterday.I am however having major problems with connecting to the internet (I am writing this on my desktop PC downstairs).I have a Netgear DG834G modem/router which worked just fine with my old netbook - a Samsung N130.The problem is that when I click on available connections, my network isn't there, but everyone else's on the street is My PC is connect to the modem/router via Ethernet and when I plug the Ethernet cable into the 5733z it does connect to the internet just fine - it won't however recognize my wireless network.

This was when I left the laptop for around 20 mins and when I went back it had connected to my home network.We have 2 other laptops and an iphone that connects to the internet so I know the router is working.I have disabled the wirless adapter and restarted the laptop but still get nothing.As I type this, on another laptop!, the problem one has been on for 30 mins but still nothing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5570Z that is running Windows Vista with an Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter. The Windows installation is a brand new clean install with all drivers on the computer being the latest and greatest from their respective manufacturers. Now for my problem...I am unable to connect to any wireless network using either the onboard wireless network card or an external USB wireless network adapter. When I scan for wireless networks my cpu will see them. I can then select whichever network I want to try and connect to but when I click the connect button it never takes me to the authentication screen to input the WEP key.
I have tried to manually enter the WEP and configure the network but then when I try to connect to the network it still tells me that Windows is unable to connect to the network. It gives me the option to diagnose connection or connect to another network but when I try diagnosing the connection it scans for a split second then it only gives me an option to go view available wireless networks. It is like my computer has lost the ability to authenticate a network connection.
This issue concerns our Acer Aspire1 Netbook. It just suddenly will not let us access our home wireless network. When I followed previous advice by unchecking the IEEE 802.1x box, I received the "40 bit or 104 bit" warning box and upon checking found that the 802.1x box had automatically been rechecked. Needless to say, we still can't access the wireless network.

Everything is working fine on it except for it randomly looses connection to the internet. I have an established network that I have been using for years. The signal strength is always 5 bars and excellent. I also have a compaq connected to the same network, and it never looses connection. However my Acer will randomly drop connection. I have no idea why. Sometimes it will connect again in minutes or sometimes hours. I am using a Linksys G Wireless Router(Model # WRT54G2), Atheros AR5B125 Wireless Network Driver, and a Atheros AR8152 Controller. I have enabled and disabled in addition to uninstalling and installing the driver and controller many times. I have also moved the router and adapter all over the house. I have downloaded the newest versions of every driver from the Acer website. I have googled for hours looking for the answer to no avail. I run the troubleshoot and the answer it gives me is to make sure all the connections to the router is secure, which it is or else my other laptop wouldn't work.

Both have very strong signals from the router and the desktop connects to the internet just like always, but the laptop isn't getting the internet signal. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5534 (Costco special) and the router is a Linksys Simultaneous Dual Band N-type. The only real significant thing that was done on the laptop was to install Adobe Shockwave Player with Norton Scan. I already have McAfee on the laptop tho, so I uninstalled the Norton. I'm going to do a system restore in a moment.

It would sometimes accept my wpa key at the same time it would give me a valid IP Address. I have deleted mcafee, norton, photoshop, applications etc. I have restored the system to a previous date. I have disabled firewalls and antiviruses. I have an Acer Aspire with Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter. I only have wireless as I am sharing my internet and therefore can't test it with an Ethernet cable. I cannot switch on and off the modem box either. I have this limited access which disappears by itself after a few minutes. Then it comes back again. I disable the wireless and enable it again which solves the problem for only a few minutes. I have checked my ip which is 192.168.1.20 with submask of 255 something - which I don't think is the problem.At last, I have switched to Safe mode with Networking but even in this mode I still have limited access. The internet connection keeps cutting off and on all the time.
