Acer Aspire / Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter - Limited Internet Access
Oct 28, 2012
I have been having this problem with limited access with my internet. I have deleted mcafee, norton, photoshop, applications etc. I have restored the system to a previous date. I have disabled firewalls and antiviruses. I have an Acer Aspire with Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter. I only have wireless as I am sharing my internet and therefore can't test it with an Ethernet cable. I cannot switch on and off the modem box either. I have this limited access which disappears by itself after a few minutes. Then it comes back again. I disable the wireless and enable it again which solves the problem for only a few minutes. I have checked my ip which is 192.168.1.20 with submask of 255 something - which I don't think is the problem. At last, I have switched to Safe mode with Networking but even in this mode I still have limited access. The internet connection keeps cutting off and on all the time.

making my laptop almost unusable and a hassle to use. After a while of my laptop being on, my wireless network adapter will suddenly get "limited connectivity", won't connect to the internet but will still get the router.Every single Xirrus test fails.Disabling and enabling it will cause my computer to freeze, requiring a restart. The same with troubleshooting. The only thing which fixes this is a fresh reboot, however it then occurs again within the hour.Sometimes the entire adapter will randomly just disable itself, and the computer will completely freeze, meaning I have to press the power on/off.Apart from having to reboot, what also seems to work is disabling the wifi from PC Settings, putting the computer to sleep, then awaking it and turning wifi back on.
Specs:
Samsung RV511 (i5) notebook from around 2010
4GB RAM, Intel(R)Core(TM) i5 CPU M 480@ 2.67GHz
Came with Windows 7 64bit installed, issue began on this.I installed Windows 8 64bit Pro a month ago, did not reset settings.
Broadcom 802.11n wireless network adapter
Device ID 4727
Driver date: 13/03/2012
Driver: 5.100.245.20
It's the latest driver. I keep uninstalling the driver and installing random ones from 2006, 2011 etc however the same problem persists.I've tried uninstalling and just rebooting, but problem comes back after a while. This is my IP config when the adapter can't find a connection:

And this event/error seems to be appearing in my Events log."Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x001BB1A80E96. DHCP-Client Massive guess, something wrong with my DHCP or DNS? I've tried assigning fixed DNS addresses, this didn't work. And I always get this one constantly:"Failed to schedule Software Protection service for re-start at 2113-02-08T21:58:11Z. When I connected to the Internet by using WiFi, my laptop will suddenly disconnected. Sometimes it works to fix it with troubleshooter but sometimes I have to restart my laptop again and again. The troubleshooter mentioned it can be driver/network adapter problem but how to stop DC. I sent my laptop to the service center, they said this is not about my network adapter problem and asked me to reformat my laptop and check whether this issue can be solved or not.

I recently brought a new acer aspire with windows 8, it connects to the router/internet fine except every 10-20 mins (sometimes less) or so I get disconnected, my wifi icon in the tray shows a yellow '!', when I look in the wifi charm (the side bar thing) 'limited' is next to my routers name, but in reality It doesn't seem to have any connectivity atall.

i have a new Acer Aspire 5742Z with standard Windows 7 OEM OS from supplier.I'm trying to connect wireless to my network and i am getting a "limited connectivity" message.
- the network itself - have 10+ machines on the network.
- hardware - I've tried various cards internal and external.the LAN was also having issues until I disabled the QoS on the adaptor, however this does not facilitate the WLAN.I think it must be software issues and was wondering about Acers software as I know Toshiba's "config free" can interfere with WLAN. or there may be more i need to change to the adapter settings.

I just got a used Acer AspireOne AOA150 ZG5 Netbook and upon bringing it home, I received a "Limited or No Connectivity" error when attempting to use the internet via wireless. I have another laptop that connects at the same time with no issues. The Netbook DOES work if I hardwire into my home router. I have since taken the Netbook to work and it connects to the wireless there with no issues. So it seems to be an issue specifically with my home router/modem and this Netbook. So far I have flushed my DNS cache, done the Winsock and reset my TCP/IP, removed wireless profiles, and tried the Repair function.None of that has worked. My wireless properties are also set to automatically obtain the IP address.I'm on XP SP3 and it seems like a lot of folks think that it's a SP3 issue, but I don't think so in my case since the wireless is fine in other locations. I have owned my Acer Aspire 6920 for about a year. Today, it will not access the internet on our wireless setup. The other computers in the house aren't having a problem getting on the web. This has happened once before, but I can't remember exactly how I fixed it at that time, naturally. The blinking light on the right side of the keyboard that indicates the network adaptor and modem are working isn't blinking today. It is a solid light. I have tried rebooting, shutting down for a while, etc., with no luck.

This issue concerns our Acer Aspire1 Netbook. It just suddenly will not let us access our home wireless network. When I followed previous advice by unchecking the IEEE 802.1x box, I received the "40 bit or 104 bit" warning box and upon checking found that the 802.1x box had automatically been rechecked. Needless to say, we still can't access the wireless network.

My ancient HP desktop connects to the network via wired connection. My laptop connects wirelessly (usually). Both have very strong signals from the router and the desktop connects to the internet just like always, but the laptop isn't getting the internet signal. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5534 (Costco special) and the router is a Linksys Simultaneous Dual Band N-type. The only real significant thing that was done on the laptop was to install Adobe Shockwave Player with Norton Scan. I already have McAfee on the laptop tho, so I uninstalled the Norton. I'm going to do a system restore in a moment.

I have an Acer Aspire X3950 desktop, I am running Win7 and have tried two different wifi adapters and they install but they will not connect. It is almost as if my computer itself is blocking the adapter.I spoke to an On Networks rep for over two hours and he tried everything from reinstalling to rebooting and tried three different drivers. He was from a different country and when I told him what the troubleshooter said he would not deviate from the script they give them 2 hours and he was not even close. It saw the device but it wouldn't even blink.Acers website nor customer service will assist me because my warranty is expired. They want me to send the computer back but I have a feeling it is an easy fix I just don't know enough about computers to say oh just uncheckmark this box.I know in the past I used wifi but switched to an ethernet cable.

I have an Acer Aspire 3810T, recently I reloaded windows 7 to get rid of a virus. It functioned normally for about a day and then it stopped connecting to the internetEvery other wifi enabled device I have connects just fine so its not my modem. It says its connected to the network but there's no internet access. I've tried troubleshooting, but the only suggestion it gives me is to reset my modem, which I know isnt the problem.

earlier this year I bought an Acer AspireOne netbook with Windows 7 startup operating system. It's been working fine until recently when it suddenly does not see our home wifi connection. It shows a list of all our neighbours routers, just not ours. We have various other devices that can see and connect to it just fine (other PCs & laptops, iPhones & smartphones, MacBook Pro etc) A system restore cured the problem the first couple of times, but now that doesn't work. I've tried resetting & restarting the modem & router dozens of times but it does not appear in the list of available networks for the netbook.

I am using Acer Aspire M5621, It does not have a wireless card. My aunts computer is currently using the modem. So, do I need to buy another Bell Modem, and will I be able to connect via that? Or do I buy one of those wireless cards or external wireless things you put in the USB port.
I am trying to connect, but also have the best speed I can get.

So I have a relatively new (only about 3 weeks old) Acer Aspire laptop...now my internet worked all fine and dandy up until about 36 hours ago. For some stupid reason my laptop will not connect to wireless networks, now at first I just thought "boo the wireless is probably ******" but that is not the case because the internet works perfectly fine with other laptops. I've tired my school's wifi, along with my home's and the library's (I'm using a library computer right now).
It keeps saying that my home network is an "unidentified network" and subsequently I cannot connect to the internet. It's very frustrating because I have restored the system and it still won't work.

I've recently moved into a new flat and got a new BT Home Hub with Unlimited use. Alas, I'm having problems with my laptop - an Acer Aspire 5920. I can connect to the internet with no problems, but the connection intermittently cuts out. It remains offline for about 10/15 seconds and then reconnects to my Home Hub automatically. This is particularly annoying when I'm trying to watch a video. My other flatmates have no issues like this, so I'm assuming that it's a laptop fault and nothing to do with the BT connection. I have uninstalled the Acer eNet software which comes installed on the laptop because I felt this may be clashing somehow with the Windows internet connecting program - unfortunately the problem persists.
