Wifi Connection Access - Local Only
Jun 19, 2012My brother is visiting me, and i am trying to connect his computer to my router (wireless), i got connected but access says local Only.When connected by wire i get internet access ( Access: local and Internet)His computer had several adwares/spywares and numerous toolbars...... that i uninstalled. Cleaned by Malwarebytes and AVG 2012 free edition.Scan results are clean now.
ISP: RCN (cable 25mbps)
Router: Cisco Linksys E1000.
Cable Modem: Motorolla surband
I have 2 other computers connected through wifi on this router without any problem. Vonage Phone is connected to this router. Xbox is connected wireless and LG Blu-ray player is connected (wired).Xirrus Wi-Fi inspector screenshot is attached, IPCONFIG /all was run wile wireless was on ( of course Local only) but cable was not connected.

I am now able to connect to the 615 either by wifi or by typing it's ip address with another computer connected to the LAN. Connecting to the 615 by wifi, i can do a ping request to urls or receive and send mail with my e-mail client but i can't access websites using my browser.s it possible to get it working without installing some kind of modified firmware? How To Add Wifi Connection
Mar 6, 2012I have BT infinity connection with modem /router on ground floor. Wireless signal can be picked up easily until second floor. Third and fourth floors have very poor signal so I have run a cable from modem to top floor - completely hidden so no issues there. On the top floor I have a Netgear network switch FS605 running three cables into three rooms. All works fine.What I want now is to replace the Netgear switch with one that also offers a wi-fi connection so that my iPhone / iPad can connect via wi-fi on the top floor. I still need the wired capability.

I have made the bridged connection with an LAN and my Wifi, and can connect to the bridge from my laptop, however from all of the guides I've tried following, they all say that I should find a Sharing tab under my wifi connection's properties, however I only have a Networking tab.

Getting Ps3 To Catch Wifi Connection
Jan 23, 2011My friend has a PS3 and it doesn't catch the WiFi signal from the router.Router is a Belkin 54g. The PC's in the house all have a perfect wifi signal. I personally have never owned a PS3 or seen the settings/menus/options.He told me he tried to do a "quick format" and messed around with settings but still doesn't get a signal.The PS3 is the old fat bulky ones.He used to be able to get a signal a while back but it was only for a couple days and now he just gets nothing.Is it possible the wifi card in there needs to be replaced?I have not seen his WiFi setup options or distance of ps3 to router.

Jul 11, 2012Recently, due to some reason I have not yet figured out, my laptop has started bugging out with the wi-fi and connecting to my wireless connection at home. What it does is it keeps trying to connect, and sort of connects. It gets that little yellow triangle, and says Limited Connectivity. When I check the status, I am in fact getting an IP address, and everything SEEMS to be in order. On my router's configuration page, however, I cannot see my laptop's MAC address in the list of attached wireless devices. The internet does seem to work for about a few minutes every time I restart the router.
At first I thought it might have been an IP conflict issue, so I tried setting up a static IP on my laptop. Then I tried reserving an IP for my laptop through the router. Then I tried both. And while all three attempts seemed to have fixed the problem, it came back within a few minutes.

Wifi Connection Keep Dropping
Nov 29, 2012I'm with Virgin Media and the router they give is rubbish. The wifi connection kept dropping. So, I bridged the router to a Linksys router. The wifi is nice and stable now. However, when connected via eternet to the linksys router, I've noticed that my download speeds are very spiky. I used to get a flat 4MB/s download (I have 30 Meg internet). Now it spikes heavyly and I roughly get 2.5MB/s. I've turned the Virgin Media router (which is a netgear inside) into modem mode and when trying to connect directly to the virgin media router, I won't pick up a connection. I assume I can only connect directly to the Linksys.

The problem occurred today when logging onto windows. Windows tells me that the connection i have to the router is limited. Other devices i have in the house are capable of connecting to the wifi router. When deleting the connection and trying to reconnect to the router, it brings up the message that it is taking longer than expected to establish a connection and then eventually brings up the message "limited connetion"
When trying to connect the laptop to the router via cable, it doesn't even recognise that it is connected and does not establish a connection.
When using the windows connection troubleshoot, it detects a driver problem with both the wifi adapter and the Lan adapater. Therefore i uninstalled and reinstalled both devices but still suffered the same problem.
When clicking the connection i am attempting to connect to, right click status, details.. everything is in blank, it gives no information regarding to the connection.

I have managed to get 2 of the 3 connected perfectly and have a connection of 65mb per second and the other one has a connection of 6mb per second!!I am certainly no computer expert, I am very worried that 2 are working spot on and the other has something wrong with it!!Is it something that could be set up wrong or is whatever makes the wifi connection faulty.

Aug 28, 2012I just got a job at a School district that has an extremly old and basic network setup (No Firewall, only 2 accounts on the server Student and Teacher). They have two small buildings that have 1 wireless router on each floor about in the middle of the hallway. I am having a strange issue I haven't seen before with a windows 7 laptop that a few of the teachers in the district are having. They can see the wireless router on the network but everytime they try and connect it says "Windows Cannot Connect or is Denied Access". All the other laptops in the building connect fine.Heres what I have done so far.
-Power cycled the router, nothing.
-ipconfig /release, and renew, nothing.
-Getting closer to the router and connecting, nothing. (Also tried with a differant laptop in the room and it could connect no problem which confused me more)
-Updating the network card.(says it has the latest updates)
-Re-entering the network key, nothing
What I haven't tried is setting up manually a static IP. But do I need to do that? And if so how do I know which IP to give it is there a way I can generate a list of all the IP's on the network?
Wifi Connection Losses Periodically
Feb 14, 2012I'm having WIFI connection issues with a Sony Vaio VGN-FW140E Laptop. After a connection is established it will randomly stop working.The network adapter is a Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN using driver version 14.3.0.6,I have also tested the connection with a Cisco Valet AM10 WIFI USB adapter and received the same results.All other devices connected wirelessly are not experiencing any connection problems.
