View 2 RepliesI got the AE2500 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter. It connects just fine but it seems to like to disconnect on me. Mainly seems to do it when playing online games and testing out speed test.net It does "Download" test fine, "Upload" test is iffy. Sometimes I can run the test 1-2 times sometimes three times, but seems to always drop connection on one of the "upload" tests.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just got hooked up to the internet via qwest the other day with my room mate. We have a wireless modem (PK5000) and he's using the AE2500 usb adapter to get online. Now, he can get online, but if he ever turns off or sleeps his computer, he can't connect when he turns it back on. His computer can see the network, full signal, but when he tries to connect it says cannot connect and under troubleshoot options suggests we should move his computer closer to the modem, but its only about 20 feet away and shows full signal. To get it to work, we need to go into the modem config and reset the wireless options. No changes are made, just scroll to the bottom and click apply, and presto change he can connect with no problems. He's running windows 7 home edition 64 bit. The modem's security is WPA/WPA2.

I have to disable the adapter then enable it to reconnect to the internet. Are there other compatibility problems with this setup that I need to address?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several devices connected to a homehub at my home. These include smart phones, desktop computer xbox 360 and a laptop. All work fine except the laptop which until the other day (when I uninstalled Norton Security off it) has been unable to connect to the internet. The laptop has Windows Vista SP 2. I searched the forums already for any details of how to rectify this and have seen mentioned the commands netsh int ip reset reset.log (along with Ipv4 and ipv6) and netsh winsock reset catalog? went to add/remove programmes to get rid of Norton and have sinced tried to use the Norton removal tool which every time I copy it across to the laptop from my desktop when I try to run it it says it is corrupt.I was then referred to a uninstall tool called Revo which I used to remove any symantec or Norton it could find.I have also turned off windows firewall and Im still not finding a resolution.

I am on Windows Vista, attempting to share my laptop's internet connection (via 3G Huawei Dongle) with my iphone 4GS (via the laptop's wireless card). The iphone detects and connects to the laptop's ad-hoc connection fine, but when attempting to go online with safari, an alert message says that safari is not connected to the internet. From the Network and Sharing center, the ad-hoc connection's access is "local only". I have already enabled ICS on the dongled connection, so this shouldn't be the case.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell desktop with Windows XP Home Edition. I recently restored the computer to factory settings and when I tried connecting to the internet the Local Area Connection wasn't showing in My Network Places. I have been searching through other forums and tried the things that they suggested but nothing worked. I am trying to connect to an AT&T U-verse 2Wire router through a wired connection. I tried connecting both wirelessly and wired to another computer and everything worked fine. I checked the Device Manager and there is an ! mark next to the Ethernet Controller. The properties say that the drivers for that device aren't installed. And of course I can't install them since I can't access the internet. Other forums suggested that I check the network adapters option in Device Manager but that isn't available in the device manager.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy error message states that "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Registering with DNS".I have no internet connection on my HP PC, which is why I am typing this on my laptop. On the HP I am running windows xp with sp3.I connect to a cable modem provide by Time Warner. This problem started yesterday, so I have been utilizing both computers with one internet connection, or plugging and unplugging the cat5 cable.I have run Microsoft Essential Full scan, as well as Malwarebytes's Anti-malware.Now I ran both of those in Safe mode, and picked up no bugs. I have Avast as my antivirus software, and the message I receive on that is that "Avast will not be able tp protect mail/news (error 10050). I am unable to turn on the web shields for Avast.I have manually entered the IP addresses into my HP from my laptop, all the way thru DNS servers. It still won't connect.I tried using the Internet explorer diagnostic tool, and it came back and said that I have a winsock issue.
View 14 Replies View Related1. Internet works ok, everything is fine, but then it stops working for no reason.
2. I open Network and Sharing Center, and do diagnostics. They come up with result: "the default gateway is not available". Nothing works. But Local Area Connection and Network Controller are both enabled.
3. I have to restart computer for the internet to work again. However, it doesn't restart: it hangs forever in "shutting down" screen, and nothing happens. Probably because computer is still trying to connect to the internet (?)
4. After forced restart, internet doesn't work, but if I run diagnostics again, they come up with result: "The Local Area Connection adapter is disabled", and fixes it automatically. Internet works then.
My internet is working fine, but my Ethernet cannot get a connection. On my Ethernet Local Area Connection it says status is: Limited or no connectivity i am running an Ethernet cable from my xbox 360 to the Ethernet adapter slot at the back of my computer, no wireless or anything. View 4 Replies View RelatedMe and my family have a PC that runs on Windows Vista service pack one. We have it hooked up to the Internet (Verizon DSL). And knock on well it has a great connection and has never given us any problems. We run a LAN line on this connection. No wireless at all. Yes we are still in the stone age. Well the other day my mother gave my step daughter her laptop ( Dell Latitude D610, it has Windows XP service pack two on it). They had it set up for wireless. So, I disabled that connection and went to the LAN connection that was set up and enabled it. Everything was set to obtain a address. I hooked up a Ethernet cable that went from the DSL straight to the laptop. No connection at all, not even a local one.So then I read the other day that you could type in the IP, Subnet and Gateway address from the working PC into the laptop and things should work. Well, I did this. Yes, I did get a local connection but still nothing on the Internet side. Then I thought, hmm maybe it needs to be done threw a router. I had a NETGEAR (Fast Ethernet Switch) FS 108 so I hooked everything up to that.
My PC connection works great. Very fast. However the laptop still, no luck. I left the IP, Subnet and Gateway address the same on the laptop. At first I got a error message saying that there was two machines on the same network using the same IP address(or something to that effect). So, I went back to the lap top and clicked to obtain a address. And got no connection at all. No local or internet. On the laptop I have released and renewed using the various Ipconfig commands. I have pinged the new address and it was a success. That address is 169.254.181.107. I Pinged the Subnet and it too cam back a success. I tried pinging a web page and no luck at all. I also have power cycled everything. And still the same result. Oh and when I did the Ipconfig /renew to get the address above it never did give me a default gateway. It came up blank. The laptop did have Norton Internet protection on it so disabled it. Or at lest I think I did. I right clicked on it and disabled it. So, I think I did it right. I also disabled the windows firewall and still no luck. The PC connections work great and it's hooked up threw the router as well. Just having trouble with the laptop.I would run the Ipconfig /all cmd on the laptop, but as I said I cant hook it up to the computer nor do I have any recordable CD's or a usb drive.
-No hardware profiles on "change adapter setting."-Network Adapter isn't shown in Device Manager.-Reinstalled windows 7 and problem still persist.
