Dec 2, 2012So i am trying to Set up a wireless repeater so i can have a better signal in my back yard but i could not set the configurations for my repeater because the gateway (ip address? Not really sure what it is called) would not work when i entered it into the browser. So i went into command prompt to make sure i had the right gateway and it did not even exist.

Jan 3, 2012I just received three WS-C2960S-24TS-Land three WS-C3560E-48TD-S switches that i entered the Express Setup on as usual. On two of each type of switch i found the default network that is used to facilitate the Express Setup was 10.0.1.1 and the others used an IP range of 10.0.2.1, i realized this is a small negligible at best difference though i need to provide management with an answer as to why there is a difference between the two and can’t find anything online as to why there is a difference or something that proves there should be a difference. All the documentation I find sounding Express Setup notes that the IP range will be 10.0.1.1 not 10.0.2.1

BUT no matter how I've fiddled with the wireless settings I cannot get any of the laptops or mobile phones to connect wireless to the network.The Windows software on the laptops 'finds' the router OK but for some reason the router seems unwilling to supply an IP address.I've checked ALL of the settings that I can think of, and all are correct ... well, all are exactly the same as my old router which worked perfectly.

I've tried setting up a user then changing the LAN settings afterward, but it automatically removed the VPN user when I did so.

Jan 3, 2013I'm in student halls where the internet connection they provide is via ethernet cable. I've read somewhere that if I hook up a router I should be able to set up wireless - so I got a relative's old router and hooked it up. Everything is connected and working fine, however, the connection has no security set up whatsoever.I can't connect to the default 192.168.1.1 or the 192.168.0.1 which I believe would take me to the router's settings page (according to the manual) where I could set up a WPA2 password. Also, when I checked router's IP address it actually displays as 109.175.244.193, but I can't connect to this either.My ISP is StudentCom.This is a 3Com OfficeConnect ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router.I'm using both a Windows 7 computer and an OSX 10.8.2 MacBook Pro. May 3, 2012Periodically, I drop internet everywhere around my college's campus. I'm literally four feet from a router, but it doesn't seem to matter. I'll disconnect, run troubleshooter, and I'll get the error message saying that the default gateway is not available. My college is designed for Macs, but I'm running Windows 7. My Mac colleagues do not experience problems. The computer works at home and at nearly every other wireless network I've brought it in range of. Specifically, either IBM or Dell.

Nov 30, 2011I recently got a new laptop and ever since, the internet goes in and out. Most of the time it is not out long enough to display the no connectivity icon or stop music from streaming but it is noticeable. When I run the troubleshooter it says that the default gateway is unavailable. I tried manually setting the connection information but the same thing keeps happening except the troubleshooter then says that DHCP is not enabled. Feb 21, 2013I have some network devices that are connected to a 110v power source that goes through a 110v/5v power converter.The Access points keep going back to factory default settings and losing their configuration. I have the same access points installed in the same situation but on a different site that work fine.have changed both the configuration and firmware to be be identical to the working Access Points and still the others default.They do not do this at a specific time of day and out of the 6, they do this at random and not at the same time. Sometimes they will go 24 hours + without defaulting, sometimes they'll go just 4 hours.

I bought dlink dir615 router and want to configure in such a way that internet terminate on dir 615 and branch office pc's should be able to use the internet as well as get connected with the head office with default gateway configuration.

Mar 28, 2012I am trying to get rid of 2 old 2651xm's and 2 2950's from my CCNA days and want to get into the ASA realm. Can I be able to use the ASA, not only as a security appliance / firewall, but also be able to write the access lists, etc, to be able to use this as my router to push packets to and from my internal LAN to the outside world? I guess I should have stated as this being the front end device to my network, just after my DSL Cable modem, that is..and being the only device. I am trying to have this as my main router /firewall solution and then I have an old Linksys router I will pipe off one of the L2 ports to have an AP for my wireless devices? Is this a real solution an ASA can provide?
