I have a pc connected to a router through the pc's wireless adapter. I have an ipad and laptop that are out of range of the wireless router. Am I able to create an ad hoc network or something of the sort that will enable me to connect to my pc and use the internet through the pc?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 3 pcs connected to the router via cable and 2 more pcs connected through wireless. Everything works great. But when I try to connect (want to connect 2 more laptops via wireless) either one of the two laptops, the whole network stops working immediately. I have tried updating the drivers (they are up to date), removing the password from the router, gave the laptops static IPs (and all other pcs as well) with no results. As soon as one of the 2 laptops joins the network through wireless, it stops working for everybody. However if I connect them through the cable they work fine. One of the laptops uses win vista 64 bit, the other one win 7 64 bit. We have cisco RangePlus Wireless Router wrt110.

I am able to access the administrative settings fine, and have got it to finally connect to the router, but there is no Internet connection, nless I am hardwired into my cable modem. I dont believe I have the software installed on this computer and I cant seem to find a place to download it even on the Linksys website, and the firmware is probably in bad need of updating.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys X5000 hooked up with my home pc. The internet I get is free though the private school's network I work at (across the street) through a LAN. With a bit of wrestling I got my desktop to connect with the internet through the Linksys like an ethernet switch.I can't get my wireless devices to connect with the internet without logging in as a guest, which is annoying to do every time, especially through my iPod. They will gain access to my network, but not the internet.
Since this is a school network, my IT guy gave me a static IP address to speed up up/downloads by disabling DHCP. Every time I try to do that I get a message that "the page at 192.168.1.1 says the value can't be equal." OK, so I try to change my router's IP to 192.168.1.2 and...no luck, same message. I love working with hardware, but networking is beyond me. I don't think I can log into the guest screen in my own house any more! I am getting a new tablet in 2 days and this just won't do.
I have a printer (with wireless capability) wired to desktop (Windows XP) and a wireless laptop (Windows 7).My question is, can the printer be connected wirelessly to the laptop as well as wired to the desktop, or does everything have to be wireless? I have several devices in a media closet (about 3 or 4 - Blu ray, DVR, ect) that only have wired ports. Since all these devices are right next to each other, I don't need to buy a wireless adapter for each one because that's just pointless. is there a way to have all 4 of these wired devices connect to a central device, which in turn this device connects to my wireless network? I know there is a way I just haven't been able to figure it out.And then, with this new device, is there some special way it has to be configured?

It connects beautifully to a Verizon router (I can browse the Internet), but I can't figure out how to share folders on my network. I have a Macbook and Win7 machine and both cannot see this old PC on the network. I have tried to ping the old PC from my Win7 machine, and it will only timeout. I have an acer laptop and although I have wirelessly connected to my canon mp560 printer, it loses the connection and I cannot reestablish it so my lap top tells me the printer is offline. Is there something else I need to do or load on for this to work every time?

I have two PCs at home, The first one gets a wired connection from ISP, and has the internet. The second gets a wired connection from my first PC (through another network card). I recently had to reinstall windows 7 on my first pc, and It seems i cant get internet to work on my second pc. The computers can ping each other, and my second pc shows as "connected", yet has no connection to the internet (and cannot ping to anywhere, cept my first pc). My second pc is running windows XP and before I reinstalled the first PC's windows everything was fine, and I didnt change anything on my second pc either (well, changed everything back anyway). IP configs seem to be fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSanta got a second-hand acer mini-laptop for my daughter this last Christmas and she accidentally pour some coke in it, I took it to the shop and I had to pay to repair it; when I got it back, the first thing is that originally it has Windows 7 and now XP, I thought it was ok, but even though I use my network passkey and everything, it quickly connected to the network showing internet access but when I open IE, it shows a message to diagnose connection problems, I run the repair wizard and nothing, but all the time it is showing that the connection is working, will I need to take it back to the shop or is there something I can do?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'll try and explain this the best that I can. I'm currently running a Sony Vaio VGN-NW270F laptop with Windows 7. I'm using a WRT54G2 v1.5 router for my internet connection. Last Wednesday, I tried to go online, but my wireless connection for my home network came up as "limited connectivity", even though there was a 5-bar signal strength. Since then, it has identified and connected to my home network, but displays "no internet". On startup, however, it connects, but then promptly disconnects, and I experience the same issue. I can go online using my parents' laptop, my 3DS, and my Wii, so I assume it's an issue with my computer rather than my router.
Additionally, I have tried using an ethernet cord to go directly into my computer - no luck.I have also done 2 system restores to late May - still no luck.I have uninstalled/reinstalled the necessary drivers - no luck.The only thing out of the ordinary that may have contributed to this situation is that on the day when I started having this problem, a notification saying that my parents' computer's IP address was the same as another on the same network. I have NO idea what that means, nor do I know how it happened, or how to resolve it, if needed
I am ressurecting an old pc using windows xp service pack 3. I can connect to my network but not the internet. I have tried several different solutions to no avail. If I connect to the local openzone I can connect, but not through my network. I am using a Belkin wireless card and the modem/router is a dlink 2740b

I have recently built a server running WHS 2011. The mobo have 4 NIC ports.
NIC 1 - Is connected to network / internet and is set with static IP.
NIC 2 - Is connected to a WD Mybookworld NAS Drive with no specific IP settings.
I can access the NAS drive for a short while, but after say 10 mins (sometimes shorter) I lose access and it says it cannot find the drive.I know its not a NAS drive issue as when NAS is plugged directly into router there is no issue.I have tried using a static IP for NAS drive but cannot access the drive at all then (have tried default gateways as router and the server ip address). But nothing.I can't turn off the NAS drive with the power button it has to be unplugged so as if its locked up for some reason.
I have three computers at home: 2 desktops and 1 laptop and they all run windows 7. For a week now I haven't been able to connect to the internet from one of the desktops. The initial setup was wireless and worked fine for years. I've tried every advise I could find online: Powered off and on the modem and the router, disabled and enabled the adapter, reseted WINSOCK and TCP/IP, assigned a permanent IP address, did a system restore to the last day the internet worked, turned off windows defender (windows firewall has always been off), turned off Webroot, I bought a new wireless USB adapter which connected to the network but still no internet access and my last resort: I got a really long ethernet cable and connected directly to the wireless router AND then directly to the modem... NOTHING! Still says that I am connected to an unidentified network and that there is not internet access.

For this configuration I've set up DMZ interface with DHCP server. Client connected to DMZ port gets DHCP configuration but can't go out to the Internet.

After moving I was using a wireless Internet connection for a while but then I started using a direct connection to a router. Now I'm back to wireless but I'm having this problem, my brother has been using the wireless from the beginning and still does so I'm sure it's my computer. No browsers work, no games, nothing can connect to the Internet.I'm running windows 7 and now the Internet icon in the taskbar is the computer monitor with a yellow triangle as opposed to the bars of wireless internet unless I'm connected or trying to connect to the wireless Internet that either says I have limited connectivity or is connected but doesn't work.

View 7 Replies View Relatedno matter what device is used to connect to our Linksys WRY54G v2.0 Router, whether it be CAT6, internal wireless card (Intel Wireless LAN (802.11a/b/g/n), or USB wireless card (Linksys AE1000), she drops connections at random and frequent times and has to disconnect the device and reconnect to get internet back. She is still connected to the network though. The issue has been becoming more and more frequent the past few days and has been ongoing for a few months. We are at wits end with the issue. I looked on Linksys' website for updated firmware for the router AND the AE1000, no new firmware and same driver that is installed for the AE1000. We have tried to enable Multimedia Environment, Disable 802.11, unchecked "Automatically turn off device to save power", changed router channels from 6 to 1, have uninstalled ALL third party firewalls and AV/Spyware/Malware/Adware removal programs (but not before scanning the system), and lastly tried the DHCP Braodcast Flag Fix.
