Can't Connect On Desktop?

Anyways a little background info on my desktop. Runs on vista, I have At&t for internet and tv . Router is in my room so I have cord from router to back of my desktop.Well my desktop had been out of commission for a while but I had restored it and everything seemed cool. Everything except from then on it could never connect to the internet. Occasionally when I start it up it will show the globe and say connected and everything but as soon as I try to open up my browser(firefox) it will say it could not connect to webpage and will start saying on the connection local only. I really have no idea what to do about this, I have tried another ethernet cord and tried the windows updates when allowed and nothing has work

I'm trying to connect to my home laptop from work. The home laptop is connected to DIR-655 router. I set up the internal and external ports to 3389 using both TCP and UDP protocols with the Application as "Remote Desktop". From my work PC I enter the external IP with :3389 and it fails to connect. I have also tried accessing internally which is failing too. All computers are running Windows 7 Home Premium Remote Access is enable on all.

My desktop computer was connected to the internet and working perfectly fine the night before, but when I woke up the next day, I had the red "X" on my network telling me that it's not connected.
Now since after that, my computer has not been able to connect. I really doubt that it has anything to do with my router, because my laptop and my brother's Xbox 360 can both get online just fine. But I don't understand why?

I ran network diagnostics and in the Win sock catalog, I found 5 errors: TCP/IP and UDP/IP could not perform simple loop back communication, UDP service provider, and TCP service provider could not perform simple loop back communication, and A connectivity problem exists with an installed LSP.The network adapter says it is connected.

I've got a desktop computer using Windows 7 that wont connect to the internet but my laptop works.
I've tried resetting the router like umpteen times and the desktop reads the local network but wont connect.Changed ethernet cable twice. I do get the light at the connection so I assume thats fine.

I recently build a custom desktop and it wont connect to the internet. Ive had it directly wired to the modem and it recognizes the network but says there is no internet access. It also says the ipv4 and ipv6 is not connected. The problem isnt the modem because when i wire it to my laptop my laptop automatically connects to the internet from it.this is my motherboard and i downloaded all the drives that came with the CD. I will in the future connect my desktop with powerline networking but my router just broke so i wont be able to do that now.

I'm stuck with their crappy wireless which has, up until now, worked perfectly. Yesterday in the middle of browsing however, I ceased to be able to connect to any websites. I'm still connected to their network, but I just don't have internet access. My laptop connects flawlessly and I've contacted the front desk and there's no issues on their end, so it must be something with my desktop specifically. I've gone through pretty much every solution I've come across. I've reset winsock, flushed DNS, released/renewed IP, uninstalled/ reinstalled my wireless adapter's drivers, system restored in case a Windows update burned something, tried manually setting IP/DNS settings..None of it has worked. I'm about to buy a new adapter just to rule that out as well. [code]

I'm troubleshooting a desktop that will not connect to the internet, I've tried just about everything and still no luck. It is now connected directly to the modem and when I click on the red X between the network and the internet icons in network and sharing center to diagnose it says "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid ip configuration. But when I connect the same ethernet cable to my laptop I'm connected instantly. I've uninstalled/installed the network adapter, I tried cmds in the cmd prompt, I even did a system restore and still.........NOTHING!

My desktop is connected to the same wireless network as my laptop yet my laptop has connection while my desktop does not.The desktop might actually be connected directly do a router (says 'local area connection 2 connected' right now but still no connection).I checked other posts on other websites that say to post all this command-prompt information that i cant necessarily access because i do not know the administrator password.

We use Nortel VPN and the problem is that it's set so when you connect to it, you can only access company resources so no Internet. To mitigate that we use vmware and run Windows XP at the same time as our Windows 7 systems. I'd love to be able to use remote desktop though and connect to a system located elsewhere even another office computer and have that one on the VPN, but of course as soon you connect the remote desktop connection goes down with it.I'm just wondering if there's any ways around this. I'm assuming not, but I'm not sure how VPN fully works. Like if I had 2 network cards in the remote system, when I VPN in does it block connections from all network cards? Ideally I'd like to use something like Amazon Web Services since their Windows Server tier has the free option which is good, or will use another VPS type system running Windows Server.

I can't connect to my wireless network. It has been working fine for the past 8 months, now the past few days the networks shows up but when I try to connect it says cannot connect then when I run the fix it it says problem with wireless adaptor or access point. I can connect fine on my laptop and iphone, but not on my desktop.

Now I decided to switch my desktop to hdmi after doing that the cord was affecting my wireless antenna so I took it out and put it in the other wireless antenna spot while it was on now everytime I try to connect it says the password is wrong or theres something wrong with the router everything else connects I have a dell inspiron 620 desktop and a Begin.91Bb modem/router

My desktop doesnt connect to internet, but my internet works fine wid wi-fi systems like mobiles and tabs. IE/Chrome/Firefox all have the same prob. But when I remove the ethernet connection, shut down and then start my system and then connect the lan, all the 3 browsers work fine. I'm noticing this issue after I've uninstalled TuneUP Utilities trial pack and/or after I've installed LABTEC wireless Keyboard and mouse. Later on I've uninstalled the LABTEC software, but still its no use.

My desktop will not connect to the internet at home, but will connect anywhere else I take it. I can bring other desktops or laptops home and they will connect. For a little background, my son installed a router for a couple of months and when he disconnected his computer I lost connectivity with my desktop. The router is gone, I am directly connected to the modem. Seems like the ip address reverts back to the address that the router assigned for 30 seconds then to 169. ........ I have tried all sorts of fixes that I have found on the net, but none have worked. Have changed modems, ethernet cables, ISP has also tried but nothing has worked.

OK, so I have a wireless/wifi connection at home. Problem is, the router is located in the bedroom (it's a rental house, and wired kinda odd). I have my desktop on a table in the kitchen.

I have Windows 7 64 bit.I bought a Netgear DGN2000 approximately two years ago. It is working well.Currently, there is good connectivity between my laptop and the modem/router (wired and wireless).I worked on my desktop this morning, uninstalled some programmed, but must have uninstalled a driver or something.I inserted the Resource CD, which installs the modem (although it is installed). I got a modem installed and was planning on using ethernet cables for my desktop as well as laptop. The laptop works fine (as I'm using it). The desktop on the other had a wireless adapter installed. I tried using the cable with the desktop and it would'nt pick up the connection. I took the wireless adapter out of the desktop and still nothing. I tried creating a new connection but it would only allow me to make a dial up connection. Not sure what to do.

I am trying to use my computer running Windows XP Home to remote desktop into my computer running Windows 7 Ultimate over the internet.The computer I am trying to connect to is listening on port 3389, has all sort of firewall exceptions sorted and is enabled to accept remote connections. The computer I am trying to use to connect has no firewall currently (I have disabled it just to get this working).
And yet when I try and connect using the ip address of the host computer I receive the message "remote desktop cannot connect to the remote computer for one of the following reasons"... and so on.

Remote Desktop can't connect, so I've got four servers in the same LAN. Whenever I try remotly access the web server, the message (Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: 1. Remote access to the server is not enable. 2. The remote computer is turned off. 3. The remote computer is not available on the network) The thing is that I can connect to all servers with any desktop computer in the network, but when I try to do it in my laptop (that is connected to the same LAN) I've got access to the other servers but not to the web server. Sometimes I had to restart this server and works fine for a little while.
