View 1 RepliesI've been using ZYXEL PLA-401 v1 Homeplug adapters for years to connect various devices to my router for a "more stable" than wireless connection. This worked fine in my last house, connecting a switch in our office to the router. We've now moved and I have got some more homeplug adapters to make a few other more reliable connections.
Problem is, the new adapters can't see the old adapters on the homeplug network. They can see each other, as can the old ones. I suspect a firmware or network name mismatch - I've tried to change settings on each of them but the Zyxel utility doesn't appear to do much. I can't set the DAK names, nor can I change the network names. The firmware update utility doesn't work on Windows 7 (gives a cannot find Windows path error).
using the Zyxel configuration utility and firmware upgrade tool on Windows 7 / Ubuntu?
I just updated the firmware on my ZyXEL NBG-416N router and now I cannot see the wireless network being broadcasted on my PC. Other devices in my home can view this network including my phone, HDTV and laptop. I have reset the router, modem and computer several times but my PC still cannot find that specific wireless network.I am using Windows 7 64-bitASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN CardAny reason that my computer is unable to find this specific network but can find others? switchie15 has chosen the best answer to his/her question.Click here to view the answer that was selected.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-615 router, hardware rev. C1 running firmware v. 3.10, dated 4/17/09. I've been beating my head against the wall trying to get this router to properly forward ports for a bit torrent application, but it not only won't do that, it doesn't want to save DHCP reservations and it doesn't want to recognize my computer on the LAN if I set a static IP address (although it does allow my computer to connect and get an internet connection). From the D-Link website, the description of firmware update 3.12NA looks like it might take care of these problems, but I can't get the router to update. When I log into the router and check for updates, it returns a message saying the latest update is v. 3.11, dated 9/15/09. However, when I attempt to download the update, nothing happens. The D-Link website offers update 3.11NA (4/20/09), 3.12NA (3/8/10), and 3.13NA (9/30/10). Why does the website offer me a different update than the router itself? I downloaded 3.13NA and unzipped the folder, which has a text file and a .bin file; I presume the latter is the update. However, when I browse to this file and attempt to upload it to the router, nothing happens. How the heck do I update this router?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere's what we have at the house;
1 - Motorola Modem (horrible ISP)
2 - Dlink DIR 655 wireless router (about 2-3 years old)
3 - 2 laptops (windows 7/both)
4 - DirecTV broadband box (can't remember how that hooked up to the router?)
5 - Playstation 3
6 - (3) DTV sat receivers
The problem started while trying to connect the PS3 to the existing network. Only one laptop is wifi, the other laptop and Ps3 are in my room and wired in to the router, and the strange little DirecTV box is in the wired mix(for on-demand i guess?) The PS3 could not log-in to the PSNetwork(still can't), but it could browse the web just fine. So I start manually typing in IP addresses, 6 IP's in all, including the sharing of 3 DTV boxes that show up on the network on my admin laptop. Didn't work, so I get into the DLink router URL and start opening up ports that PSNetwork uses. At this point I think I have it figured out, then I did a firmware update on the router. My laptop, the PS3(internet, no PSNetwork) and even the little DTV box was working fine, all wired in, using 3 of the four ports. The old lady's laptop in the living room not only couldn't get on-line, it couldn't detect a wifi network? So try to set up a new real quick before I left this AM.. No beans!! I looked at the specs for the router, the firmware is up to date but from early 2010, and the features say "NO" to gaming support..
Do I get another router that can handle all the devices and is PS3 friendly, if that's even a thing!? I can't roll back the firmware update cause I wasn't able to back up the settings, and honestly theres a good chance I did something really bad as far as trying to tweak that router to open up ports for the specific IP address that goes to the game console. We'll call it 191.55.55.99. When I thought I was finished, the PS3 IP address had switched to 191.55.55.98? So it dropped down a number, I thought it was static, and all my efforts were for the --99 IP address, basically I have network issues consisting of Satalite tv boxes, a public DTV share folder, a video game console, one wired and one wireless, and a router that I WANT TO SET ON FIRE!
I have been using the Asus RT-n53 for about a year now and had little to no problems with it. Lately, my wife's iPhone has been dropping its connection to the RT-n53. It was probably a problem with her piece of apple crap, but I thought I would update the firmware on the RT-n53. I found that my firmware was way out of date, so I updated to the latest version.
With the newest firmware installed, I can no longer detect the 5Ghz band with my PlayBook. Before the update, all of the other devices in the house were not 5Ghz capable, so my PlayBook was the only device that used the 5Ghz radio on the RT-n53. Now, the SSID for the 5Ghz band just isn't there any more. In the configuration settings for the RT-n53, everything points to "it should be working"... 5Ghz radio is enabled, SSID broadcast is enabled. I have tried changing the wireless mode from "N Only" to "Auto" to "Legacy". I have fiddled with channel settings, encryption settings, etc. Even tried changing the SSID a few times. Multiple reboot, and still, the 5Ghz SSID just doesn't appear on any devices.
I would like to turn on the wireless capability on my Actiontec GT701-WG, but the firmware is old and the tutorial on CenturyLink's website looks nothing like the set-up page I get. I'm nervous about updating the firmware

View 15 Replies View RelatedCurrently running firmware version 1.32NA on DIR-655 (hardware version A4). I have made multiple attempts at updating its firmware, first to 1.33NA and later to 1.34 Beta 3, with no success: on each occasion, it accepts the local .bin file upload, then claims to be in the process of applying the upload (with I think an 80 second countdown), and eventually comes back to the login page, still showing that it's running firmware v1.32NA (verified after logon, refresh, etc -- no update was applied). I have attempted this immediately after a soft reset of the router and even after a hard (power cycle) reset, but still no success.
(Any reason to think that the update might work if performed while the router is disconnected from the Internet? or after a configuration reset?
I bought my DIR-825 three months ago. The firmware seem to be from 2009, and the check-for-later-firmware functionality from the web interface tells me that my version (Current Firmware Version : 2.01EU) is the latest.
I don't believe that the firmware from 2009 is the latest, but have no idea on how to proceed.
My hardware in the web interface say this: (Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.01E
The problem I really have is related to PPTP pass through (I think), but I thought making sure I have the latest firmware is always a smart move.
So, can the firmware-checker of the web-interface fail, or do I have the latest firmware?
I've been having wireless range issues lately with my dir-615: a lot of holes seemed to have popped up in my house despite nothing changed (house or router location). This is after at least 2-3 years of good coverage and no issues. Went to look at the firmware & found 2.0 installed. Found out online that (I think) firmware is now at 4.11. Tried to download and install but both finding the update and unzipping it proved challenging. Specifically for the latter, unzipping kept yielding more zipped packages, like a russian doll

View 2 Replies View Relatedso I've recently reinstalled my OS (windows 7 32bit) because I got a BSOD for some uknown reason and it kept booting to NTFS file checker, anyway this is irrelevant.since the reinstall, ive been getting pretty annoying latency spikes. The only game I've got installed ATM is counterstrike: source so no I haven't tried out any other games. My connection consists of a netgear wireless G router routing a 10mb virgin media connection to my belkin wireless G USB adapter.my drivers are all up to date, including the adapter. I cannot update my firmware because the netgear router is owned by VM and they don't allow firmware updates from netgear (I've tried and failed to update) for some unknown reason.
In games, sometimes it runs smoothly, and other times I get really bad latency spikes. It will all be running fine at about 30ping but then it will lag and shoot up to 300/350. it will then keep doing this intermittently, rendering the online game unplayable as I'm being owned by AWPers everywhere. It's definitely me as other people in the server also on VM are experiencing no lag. On top of this, I sometimes find my browser will run extremely slow on occasions, as well as downloads becoming slow on some occasions.
I get this error when I update to 1.12. Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a WAG54G ver 1.2, 4-port eth + wireless adsl router. The latest firmware update on the support download site is Ver.1.02.1 from 05/18/2004 which is ridiculous! [URL] This is the ver I have installed on the router and lt does not even have WDS setting, so the device is more or less useless.I have checked open-source alternatives (the wrt line) but they all start with WAG54G V2 and none support the earlier models v1 and v1.2 I need to somehow upgrade this router to something functional. I have checked the GPL code page as well and while there ls a listing for WAG54g, I think itd for V3 routers. So the question is:
1. Is GPL source code usable on v1.2 (I assume not)
2. any suggestions to get a wds system on the router (including beta / alpha firmware)
The firmware update went smoothly The mydlink service quit accessing the camera, until I download and ran the updated Mac version of the "mydlink Setup Utility v1.0.06_07272011"Seems as if the camera is more stable; ping times are more consistently low.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI read the sticky related to firmware updates. I have a DIR-655, that has been been giving me good service for quite a few years. I subscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy as I have managed to keep my home network and computers running over the years, but I'm not knowledgable in these matters. I am still running firmware 1.10, and have not wanted to take a chance that if I upgraded I would find myself with numerous devices with no connectivity (running mix of Mac and PC desktops and laptops, XBox, Wii, Roku box, numerous iPhones and iPods, LG TV, and an iPad).
Recently I moved to the cable company phone, and they added a new modem. They have it set as a gateway (I think that is the terminology), and my network works basically as it did before. I have noticed though, that my Roku box, laptops, and skype on my Mac desktop seem to be having periods of slower download (Roku box), skype choppiness, and download that stop. I was thinking that perhaps if I upgraded the firmware, my performance might improve. After reading the sticky, it seems like firmware may not be the answer. This is a reliable but older piece of equipment, and now I'm thinking that I just need to upgrade to a newer and perhaps more advanced router.

I have this piece at my home and just realized today that there is a new firmware available on the cisco web page. It has made the device more stable, but the most noticeable improvement is in the UI. Previously it was a linksys for business UI that was pretty much exactly like the consumer products. After the upgrade it is now a Cisco small business UI. I think that this will make the resellers take the products more seriously as a small business piece rather than an upgraded residential product.
