How often does ACS 4.1 purge dynamic users from it's user group after inactivity?
We're trying to disable access to certain resources via a NAR, and finding that some users are not in the ACS dynamic user database, despite that, at one point in the past, they have used it.
Am I correct in assuming that a user that has never authenticated via an ACS-controlled resource would not be in the database?
On Cisco ACS 5.2.0.26 Patch 10, I got this system alarm:Incremental backup is not configured. Configuring incremental backup is necessary to make the database purge successful. This will be useful to avoid disk space issues. View database Size is 2.92GB and size it occupies on the harddisk is 2.91GB
In "Monitoring Configuration > System Operations > Data Management > Removal and Backup", we got this information:
Database Purging:If database size exceeds 120 GB, a backup (if configured) and purge will be initiated. If database size exceeds 150 GB, a purge will be initiated.
Could View database size reach 120 GB ?I want to know how long will Cisco ACS works without problem and if I need to hurry to configure purge.
I'm having an issue with McAfee Antivirus remediation. I'm using Cisco NAC 4.8.2 and it seems that automatic remediation is not working.Is there a webpage where we can check which AV can do automatic remediation?

View 0 Replies View RelatedI am testing a ACS 5.2 in our lab environment, I am testing port security for policy based VLAN and ACL assignment. The problem I am having is with the 2960S switches; in my current setup it is working but it doesn't seem to me like it is the way that it should be working. I have a downloadable ACL in the ACS defined and associated to an Access policy and it is working correctly. The problem is, from what I understand, I have to assign a default ACL on the switchport? So what I have assigned on the switchport is ip access-group 10 in. The downloadable ACL from the ACS is also called 10. Do I really need to match the ACL on the switchport with the ACL name I have created in ACS? That doesn't seem like it's dynamic if that is the case? What is the ACL that I should apply to the switch port (if any) in order for the downloadable acls that I configure in the ACS to work no matter what port the user is patched into?

It is not only on that switch but on all switches I have configured. I am using 3560 IPBase 12.2(55)SE6. I have configured them according to Trustsec 2.1. My end devices are none-802.1x. I can't figure out what is causing this error.
The thing is that I have not experienced any problem. In Live Authentications there are some 'Unknown' and 'Profiled' devices hitting the DenyAccess rule, but other then that everying is beeing Authorized fine.
From one day to the next our UPM database (upm.db) has blown up from 4 Gb to 35 Gb.Data purging didn't reduce the size of the db.What happened ? And how can I compact the db again ?

I am using ISE 1.1.1.268 and WLC 7.2.111.3 and NAC agent version 4.9.1.6 on Windows 7 Client machines.
About once a day i get the error "ISE Alarm (WARNING): Dynamic Authorization Failed for Device".
The device it is referring to is my NAD, a WLC 5508 running 7.2.111.3
I have looked at the logs and I cannot see anything in the logs which corresponds to this message so that I can troubleshoot further. Maybe I can if I am enabling the correct logging level on the correct ISE component.
What are the components and the logging level that I should set to get some more detail about this error?
At the moment, I have only set debug logging on Active Directory. I have TRACE logging set on Posture, Run time AAA & prrt-JNI.
I do not want to enable too much debug logs, so what is the specific element that I should be debugging.
I thought debugging the posture element would be enough but when I look at the logs there is nothing there that relates to this message.
I`m working on Dynamic Vlan Assigmenton the basis of end user authenticatedwhoc are part of specific AD Group in c ampus enviorment.Objective: Need to assign the vlan on switch port on the basis of authenticated users OU Group in Active Directory. Eg: There are 2 OU groups in AD, Sales and Administration. Authenticated user in Sales group should get Vlan 10 and user in Admininstration Group shoudl get Vlan 20.

I'm trying to use 802.1x to authenticate clients on my network with dynamic VLAN assignment from RADIUS. We have IP-Phones(powered by PoE) that only supports EAP-MD5, and we would rather use MAB(it also uses LLDP-MED for some settings) to authenticate the phones using the MAC-range from the phones vendor. The following scenario works perfect:Connect the phone and let it boot up(takes a while) and authenticate with MAB.Connect a computer in the phones data-port and let it authenticate with 802.1x(or fail and reach guest-vlan) However, the following scenario doesn't work:The computer is already connected to the phoneThe phone is then connected to the switch What happends now is that the computer is authenticated using 802.1x before the phone boots up and get's authenticated with MAB. When the phone is ready, it's authenticated with MAB and everything works. However, after a short period(let's say a minute), using `debug authentication all`, we see a "NEW LL MAC: phones mac" message(which is weird since the mac has already been MAB-authenticated), and then we are unable to contact the phone using ping. When I check `show mac address-table` it has now moved the mac from `Port Gi 0/12` to `Port Drop`. However, if I check `show mab interface Gi 0/12` or `show authentication sessions` it lists the phones-mac as `mab auth sucess `.why the first scenario works, and not the second?

We are running two ACS appliances but we cannot figure out how we can add a user into 2 differents groups.Here's the context :We have a company A which is having devices, this company uses Group A.then we have a company B which is having devices, this company uses Group B.But the admin has to manage the devices for both companies A & B.We don't want to mix devices from company A with company B.Is there a way to add the user into both groups A & B.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy company's security group uses Tripwire to monitor for changes in start-config and running-config on network devices in PCI scope. We are migrating from ACS v4.2 to v5.2. I need to create the account for Tripwire on the ACS Appliance but did not want to assign the admin role which would give access to configure terminal. The user role does not have privileges for show start-config or show running-config. Am I missing something or are these the only 2 roles available at the CLI? Can another rolle be added?

I used to do this in ACS 4.x.I created a user in the internal identity store.I tried configuring a policy to allow this users TACACS authentication multiple ways to no avail. View 3 Replies View Related So we have this problem that just started, I can replicate the issue as well, if a user makes a mistake on typing there password after 1 attempt ACS sends 3 to AD locking out the user.
In a putty or secureCRT session after 1 password failed attempt, I am unable to retry with that same session.
The issue seems to be that after 1 bad password attempt, from the client side I am unable to get another try.
We are using ACS 4.2.1.15 with patch 8 on ACS 1113 SE box.
Our requirement is to assign ACS loal group to user on basis of windows Nt group. Which means I dont wants to create individual users in ACS rather when user will login, the auth request will be forwarded to AD(remote database). Depeneding on the remote database group the user should be mapped to local database.
For this I have configured "database group mapping" according to following cisco guide. [URL]
However when ever my AD users are authenticating they are getting the membership of default group as configured in "Default" profile. I am using TACACS+ protocol in my routers and switches for authentication.
whether "Group mapping by External user database" works with TACACS+ or only with RADIUS protocol. If it works with TACACS+ what else configuration need to be done so that my ACS can map users to proper groups instead of default group.

I use ACS appliance 1120 for cisco devices administration. The identity store is external. I use Active directory. Actually, Authentication, authorization and accounting work well but users can not change theirs Active directory password when they have expired. Do you now how to configure ACS to permit password changing?
View 5 Replies View Relatedwe have created some administration accounts which should only have the possibility to work on the user database. the useradmin role is to limited to create a user and set a fixed password only, but not able to enable the users authentication against a predefined external identity store. Other roles which makes this possible are far to powerful for a second level adminstrator.The adminstrator should have the possibility the create an user and set the password check against an external database. This is not possible with the predefine role "UserAdmin". Other roles do have to many rights for these users.

View 6 Replies View RelatedA short background. Our corporate SSID is being migrated from using PEAPv0 to EAP-TLS. This restricts access only to company notebooks. Additionally we have barcode scanners which are used to inventory assets. Those devices are not able to use EAP-TLS as they cannot be integrated in the domain and being unable to do certificate based authentication.
As a workaround we planned to use another SSID with access to the same network but using PEAPv0 as authentication method, basically the same SSID but with a different name. As this naturally allows anyone to access the corporate network with a valid username/password I now wanted to add another step into the authentication process - the MAC of the device. I know I can do the filtering at the WLAN controller, but as it has a limited database as well as the fact that it is cumbersome to maintain the MAC list on all the controllers I thought I can do it over our ACS system.
I am now trying to accomplish the following: The user gets authenticated via the internal user store, which is succesful. Now I want to authorize the user via the MAC address, which is stored in the internal host store of the ACS, if access is granted or not.
For this I created the following policy:

Is it not possible to use one identity store as "attribute database" for the other identity store?
I am trying to create a user restriction to allow one user to access only two networks (10.192.3.0 and 10.192.5.0) I have range of networks but I want to permit only two networks for limited user and full access for the admins. I know this was possible with ACS 3.3 but I am not too sure if this is also applicable with ACS 5.2.
