Cisco Firewall :: 5510 - Http Connection With Video Flow

I am using ASA 5510 and I have a specific problem with Http Connection to receive a video Flow ( RSTP protocol ) in the LAN. Some Pc users (192.168.1.133,in the log) with ASA Lan Interface as gateway can ping the Camera but don't receveive the video flow.Some Pc users (192.168.1.116,in the log) using another gateway can ping and receive the video flow. I used Whireshark to capture traffic between camera and Pc using the 2 gateway. I joined Logs with this message.It seems to be a problem of TCP segments on the ASA, I try to changed some TCP options but it's still the same:- Disable Force Maximum Segment Size- Enable Force TCP Connection to Linger in TIME_WAIT State for at Least 15 Second.

I use 3 interfaces on an ASA 5510. First interface is Lan, Second interface is Outside, Third interface is ADSL The Outside interface is used for VPN L2L and smtp traffic. (Leased line on router managed by ISP)The Adsl interface is used for Http traffic. How i can exempt the http traffic to the intranet server routed through Adsl interface?

I am configuring a new ASA 5510 to replace a SonicWall and I have a problem with an HTTP Connection inside my LAN.PC from the LAN ( using ASA LAN interface as gateway) can't Connect to a Camera video Web Server (192.168.4.20) on Port 80 whereas I can Ping it.
ADSM logs show :
106015# Deny TCP (no connection) from ip1 to ip2 Flags RST on Interface LAN.The adaptive security appliance discarded a TCP Packet that has no Associated connection in the adaptive security appliance Connection table.
- I Enabled command "same-security-traffic permit intra-interface"
- HTTP inspection is disabled.
I used Capture feature on the Ingress Interface, I joined the Logs and a part of my ASA Running Config.

I have a setup using an ASA 5510 8.2(2). In the DMZ (192.168.12.x) there is a server, switch and multiple cameras for surveillance of the site. In the Inside (140.152.25.x) are the pcs that can run the client software to view the video feed, or it can pull from the server in the DMZ.
On the server in the DMZ, you can see the feed, along with any pc you connect to that network. On any machine on the Inside, or through VPN, you cannot either with the client software or pulling from the surveillance server.
I am watching the connection through ASDM and don’t see any particular port being blocked, but I do see TCP connections being terminated by inspection. So far I’ve taken out inspections for http and rstp. I don’t really see anything else that would drop video. I've attached the error I keep seeing.

There are two Polycom devices behind ASA (Terminal HDX7000 and MCU RMX1000), ASA is connected to Cisco 1900 router which is connected to ISP.
Polycom devices are NATed (unique global address per device) on router and h323 inspection is done on ASA. The issue is that when trying to connect from outside to conference on MCU I don't receive any video (but MCU shows me like a connected participant). The same is true when MCU try to call outside terminals, they are shown as connected participants, but there is just a black screen. On ASA all ports are opened (both in and out) and there are no ACLs on router. And what means NAT configuration on Polycom devices, why it is needed when NATing is done on router (such configuration option I've seen also on Tandberg and another vendor's devices)?

I have a customer with a Cisco ASA 5510 firewall, an inside network containing a Genetec video recording server, and cameras installed on broadband modems throughout the area (each with a public IP). They've recently purchased Axis Q6034-E cameras that use H.264 to stream back to the video recording server. The camera has a view mode where you can watch it through H.264 or Motion JPEG. The view with M-JPEG works, but when I switch to H.264 the video stream is denied. We have allowed RTSP, RTP, and HTTP (it's setup with only http, not 443)traffic from the camera address on the cable company public network but are still being denied the video stream. The recording software requires that the feed come from the H.264 feed, so the motion jpeg does not fix the underlying issue of being able to record.
We know it's the firewall because if we install the camera on the inside network, the video feed in H.264 works to the recorder.
How to enable something special on the firewall to allow traffic through from the device?

I have a strange problem in my ASA 5510 firewall. I turned on HTTP inspect policy to block certain URLs, but that destroyed svn communication. Interestingly, if I use simple web-browser to access svn server - it works, but any svn-client requests fail with an error "Could not read status line: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". I did some packet sniffing, and discovered that with HTTP inspect off the Webbed request is answered, but with HTTP inspect on it is rejected with an error unauthorized. Here are examples of success and failed conversation packets:

I found one mentioning of that error with that assessment: "Older firewall/proxies do not understand the Webbed related HTTP requests for accessing Subversion using HTTP{ URL} in that post But not any useful tips.

I am working on a task of redirecting any unmatched http traffic to Symantec public transparent proxy through Cisco ASA. For the definition of uncatched http traffic, we have inbound squid servers for deploying IE proxy pac and redirect the http traffic to Symantec public transpraent proxy, however we can't deploy IE proxy pac to mobile device and non-support web browers.Since we have some application using IE proxy setting for direct http communication with external domains, the current symantec policy addes those domains in the exception list so that they are not redirect to Symantec public transparent proxy server.

I am testing out some inspection options on an ASA 5505, and I am running into a situation in which applying a http inspection is dropping all outbound http traffic. I get a "protocol violation" error in the logs.

I've been thinking about this for a while and I can't seem to find a comforting answer: Assume you have three datacenters connected over a WAN. Each datacenter has its own Internet and firewall, and each firewall has a trusted network, untrusted network (Internet), and DMZ: [code]
-DMZhostA has inbound access from the Internet over port X.
-DMZhostB has outbound access to DMZhostC over port Y.
-DMZhostC has outbound access to the trusted network over port Z.
If DMZhostA gets compromised from the Internet, the attacker can indirectly access the trusted network through DMZhostC, assuming the services running on the given ports are vulnerable/poorly secured.How do you track this web of access? This is a simple scenario with just three firewalls and datacenters, but it gets proportionally more complex and harder to track as the network gets larger. Manually tracking the traffic flow seems tedious, slow, and inefficient.

I am fairly new to configuring ASA's. I have an ASA 5505 with one outside interface and three inside interfaces (inside1, inside2, and management). I need inside1 and inside2 to be able to talk to eachother but cannot work out how to make this happen. They are both configured to the same security level and the 'Enable traffic between interfaces with same security level' box is ticked. I have also tried adding appropriate NAT and Access rules. The packet tracer suggests the rules are correct for allowing traffic flow between interfaces but obviosly this may not be the case.

I am in search of a new routers. I don't have any special task to do. Just the flow of maximum 2mb/sec data and some times video conference. However I need the Voip solution as well. I just got excited on the cisco ASA 5505 product. Can this fulfill my requirements. Can this work as the router 1841. Does this support DMVPN, SSL VPN and dynamic routing. Can I upgrade the IOS for dynamic routing purpose. Do you recommend to purchase this produe act or not instead of router ? What are the limitations of this product. If I purchase this I can use this as an router as well as strong security solution. How many ports are available for traffic flow in ASA 5505. Are all routed mode or some of them switch port.

I am attempting to allow traffic from one vlan to another.Vlan 1 is on Interface 0/2.vlan1Vlan 2 is on int 0/3.vlan2Each vlan can communicate inside it's own vlan, and the gateway on each responds to vlan specific clients My problem is that I am unable to communicate between the two vlans. Using the ASDM packet tracer tool, I find that packets are denied by the default rule (on the second Access List lookup). It appears as if the packet never reaches the other interface. The access rules are set up to allow traffic from one vlan to another (inbound), on both interfaces. Testing from either vlan to connect to the other fails. Below are the accee-rules for each vlans. Once I get basic connectivity working.

I am looking for the way to define an idle timeout for specific flows on an ASA5580 by using Cisco security manager. For ex I needed to define a specific idle timeout for connections beetween specific devices (Devices in vlan1, Device2 in vlan2).To test it I did following changes by CLI and it works fine. access-list L1 extended permit ip <@IP1> <mask1> host <@IP2> class-map CM1 match access-list L1 policy-map PM1 class CM1 set connection timeout idle 02:00:00
I try do do the same configuration with CSM in order to be able to manage each changes only by using CSM.So I defined Access control list, Traffic flow and then I define timeout in CSM --> PIX/ASA/FWSM Platform --> Service Policy Rules --> IPS, QoS and Connections Rules -> connections settings -> Traffic flow idle time-out. The problem is that each time I deploy the configuration with CSM I loose the timeout config line which is the most important for my application..

I have just put an ASA5510 in place and have the following setup:

I have connected my stations to an ESW540 inside of the Int Eth0/1 and am able to get ip addresses to the stations as well as DNS addresses. I cannot however connect to the outside connection in any way. From a computer connected to the ESW540 with a DHCP assigned IP address, I can ping the computer's IP, the ESW540's IP, and even 192.168.15.1. But I cannot ping the ip address from the Int Eth0/0, nor anything beyond 192.168.15.1.
From inside of the console of the ASA, I can ping all addresses of all ports as well as devices outside of the building and inside of ESW540.

I recently had a firewall that wasn't passing traffic (ASA 5510 running software version 9.1).It turned out it had 130000 active connections. Doing a "clear conn port 53" dropped the active connection count back to 38k, and the firewall started passing traffic again.

My firewalls are running in multiple context mode.According to my troubleshooting, the problem happens because of the following things:
1- The host 10.15.5.100 do a telnet to 10.0.6.100 using the default gateway that is the context firewall C2;
2- The packet go to the C2 and is forward through the interface e0/0 (direct connected);
3- The packet is delivered direct to the host,without passthrough the context firewall C1;
4- The host receive the packet and return the answer to the source host 10.15.5.10 using the default gateway 10.0.1.10;
5- The packet is received by the context firewall C1 and is dropped with the reason Deny TCP (no connection) syn ack;
I think the the problem is on step 4, the context C1 receive a packet that didn't pass by it before. Am I right?

i have a 5510 with SDM 8.2.5 from clients connected to LAN i cant open a VPN connection! (using windows client L2TP or PPTP) there is not rules tho block this ports, why i cant connect?

i've two cisco asa5510 with 4 FastEthernet interfaces each.They are connected as below:

to three different ISP each of them! The 4rth interface of each of them, is connected to internal LAN network. Both Firewalls, offers VPN Services to ISP connections on Fa0/0
How can i achieve high availability for this scneario?is this possible to implement some HighAvailability and to offer the actual services to each of them, in case that the other firewall fail?What about using subintefaces? can i connect bothe ISP and Customers links on one or each of them, in case that firewall01 fails, all the services to be online on firewall02?

I have this box. I have few questions about it.
1) Will I be able to update firmware (from 8.2 to 8.3 or higher for example) without smarnet for ASA 5510? And what can not I do without smartnet?
2) I have only AIP-SSM-10 module to this asa 5510. is there a smartnet for it, too? And when I buy only module is there build in a 1 year subscription for IPS signatures?
3) If I have Cisco ASA 5510 base license, will my IPS on AIP-SSM-10 work?
4) Also I'm planning in a year buy one more 5510 with same module and put ther in failover. Will I really need Security Plus license for failover (Active/Standby)? For Active/Active I know that I need one, yes?

I had an experience this week of installing a 5510 ASA with 8.4.3, also tried 8.4.4(1) with the strange effect that I randomly was losing contact with the internet. The interface stayed up/up. no errors or what so ever on the interface. Reseat of the DSL wire no result. Reseat of the outside interface cable made it work again. And after some time lost connectivity again. It did not recover by itself so had to let someone do a reseat again and again and.... The outside was using DHCP client. A lease was given and an IP also. Nothing strange to find. Talked to the provider which could see the DSL and the DHCP lease. Finally I downgraded the firmware to 8.4.2 and the problem was solved.

I got a Problem on a customer which is using a Failover ASA 5510 pair with SSM-CSC-10-K9 modules.The clients have to connect to a webserver where they are doing some calculations.If they prepare everything and want to calculate everything what takes a couple of time the session is after about 3 minutes timedout.My first idea was to set session specific timeouts which are a bit longer then the normal but this setting did not work. I created a policy which did not work for me. How to set connection specific timeout's? [code]

we have installed an asa 5510 with 3 interfaces : dmz (web server 172.20.0.59;application server 172.20.0.58; server mail 172.20.0.157), inside (lan) and outside (connected to a router for internet connexion). the problem is that the connexion internet is slow in the inside (lan). our dns is in the ouside with ip address x.x.x.60 ( the dns have translated addresse to inside and dmz 172.20.0.60). the router connected to our IPS have x.x.x.33 (our default gateway for internet). there is a simple switch between firewall and router. the inside interface of the asa is connected to catalyst cisco 6509 (the interface gigabit of the 6509 is configured to auto speed and duplex). the asa have base lisence.here is the configuration of the asa and the output of commandes show interfaces (inside, outside), show asp drop , show perform.
