Cisco Security :: ASA 5510 / Routing Http Flow On Two Different Interfaces?
Jun 21, 2012
I use 3 interfaces on an ASA 5510. First interface is Lan, Second interface is Outside, Third interface is ADSL The Outside interface is used for VPN L2L and smtp traffic. (Leased line on router managed by ISP)The Adsl interface is used for Http traffic. (Adsl Cisco router) I use this configuration found on another forum subjet for routing.route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 x.x.x.x 1route adsl 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 y.y.y.y 2 nat (inside) 1 0 0global (outside) 1 interfaceglobal (Adsl) 1 interface static (Adsl,inside) tcp 0.0.0.0 www 0.0.0.0 www netmask 0.0.0.0 The problem is now I have an www intranet server on the VPN remote site. How i can exempt the http traffic to the intranet server routed through Adsl interface?

I am using ASA 5510 and I have a specific problem with Http Connection to receive a video Flow ( RSTP protocol ) in the LAN. Some Pc users (192.168.1.133,in the log) with ASA Lan Interface as gateway can ping the Camera but don't receveive the video flow.Some Pc users (192.168.1.116,in the log) using another gateway can ping and receive the video flow. I used Whireshark to capture traffic between camera and Pc using the 2 gateway. I joined Logs with this message.It seems to be a problem of TCP segments on the ASA, I try to changed some TCP options but it's still the same:- Disable Force Maximum Segment Size- Enable Force TCP Connection to Linger in TIME_WAIT State for at Least 15 Second.

I am fairly new to configuring ASA's. I have an ASA 5505 with one outside interface and three inside interfaces (inside1, inside2, and management). I need inside1 and inside2 to be able to talk to eachother but cannot work out how to make this happen. They are both configured to the same security level and the 'Enable traffic between interfaces with same security level' box is ticked. I have also tried adding appropriate NAT and Access rules. The packet tracer suggests the rules are correct for allowing traffic flow between interfaces but obviosly this may not be the case.

Cisco 2951 w/ HWIC-4ESW
IOS 15.0(1)M5
#sh ip flow int
Vlan533
ip flow ingress
ip flow egress
#
The SVI sends the flow data just fine, however I also continue to receive flow data from most other interfaces.
I have attached a screenshot of one of our netflow collectors indicating that many of the interfaces are sending flow data even though not configured to do so. We have two different netflow collectors, from different vendors and both confirm the same interfaces sending flow data.
Normally I wouldn't care and ignore it, however one of them uses a license limit by interface and is a bit problematic.

I am trying to setup intervlan routing with a Cisco ASA 5510 and two 2960-S switches. The 5510 currently is using ASA Version 7.0(2) and has a base license. I tried to create a sub interface today based on some info I found regarding the routing piece and it didn't recognize the command. I'm thinking I may need to update the IOS code or the license on the firewall. I know the syntax was correct because I looked it up and found it in a Cisco document.

I am configuring a new ASA 5510 to replace a SonicWall and I have a problem with an HTTP Connection inside my LAN.PC from the LAN ( using ASA LAN interface as gateway) can't Connect to a Camera video Web Server (192.168.4.20) on Port 80 whereas I can Ping it.
ADSM logs show :
106015# Deny TCP (no connection) from ip1 to ip2 Flags RST on Interface LAN.The adaptive security appliance discarded a TCP Packet that has no Associated connection in the adaptive security appliance Connection table.
- I Enabled command "same-security-traffic permit intra-interface"
- HTTP inspection is disabled.
I used Capture feature on the Ingress Interface, I joined the Logs and a part of my ASA Running Config.

I have a strange problem in my ASA 5510 firewall. I turned on HTTP inspect policy to block certain URLs, but that destroyed svn communication. Interestingly, if I use simple web-browser to access svn server - it works, but any svn-client requests fail with an error "Could not read status line: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". I did some packet sniffing, and discovered that with HTTP inspect off the Webbed request is answered, but with HTTP inspect on it is rejected with an error unauthorized. Here are examples of success and failed conversation packets:
Success:
1. <Client-IP> <Server-IP> WEBDAV WEBDAV:Request, PROPFIND /svn/repos/myrepo/trunk {HTTP:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1}
2. <Client-IP> <Server-IP> WEBDAV WEBDAV:HTTP Payload, URL: /svn/repos/myrepo/trunk {HTTP:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1}
3. <Server-IP> <Client-IP> TCP TCP:Flags=...A...., SrcPort=HTTP(80), DstPort=58882, PayloadLen=0, Seq=4139355337, Ack=3464798063, Win=258 (scale factor 0x8) = 66048 {TCP:2, IPv4:1}
4. <Server-IP> <Client-IP> WEBDAV WEBDAV:Response, HTTP/1.1, Status: UNHANDLED HTTP Status Code, URL: /svn/repos/myrepo/trunk {HTTP:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1}
Failure:
1. <Client-IP> <Server-IP> WEBDAV WEBDAV:Request, PROPFIND /svn/repos/myrepo/trunk {HTTP:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1}
2. <Client-IP> <Server-IP> WEBDAV WEBDAV:HTTP Payload, URL: /svn/repos/myrepo/trunk {HTTP:3, TCP:2, IPv4:1}
3. <Server-IP> <Client-IP> TCP TCP:Flags=...A.R.., SrcPort=HTTP(80), DstPort=1137, PayloadLen=0, Seq=1075661931, Ack=4049054406, Win=64240 (scale factor 0x0) = 64240 {TCP:2, IPv4:1}
4. <Client-IP> <Server-IP> TCP TCP:Flags=......S., SrcPort=1138, DstPort=HTTP(80), PayloadLen=0, Seq=1032908784, Ack=0, Win=64240 ( ) = 64240 {TCP:4, IPv4:1}
5. <Server-IP> <Client-IP> TCP TCP:Flags=...A..S., SrcPort=HTTP(80), DstPort=1138, PayloadLen=0, Seq=4184445498, Ack=1032908785, Win=8192 ( Scale factor not supported ) = 8192 {TCP:4, IPv4:1}
6. <Client-IP> <Server-IP> TCP TCP:Flags=...A...., SrcPort=1138, DstPort=HTTP(80), PayloadLen=0, Seq=1032908785, Ack=4184445499, Win=64240 (scale factor 0x0) = 64240 {TCP:4, IPv4:1}
Packet # 4 is an actual differentiators.
I found one mentioning of that error with that assessment: "Older firewall/proxies do not understand the Webbed related HTTP requests for accessing Subversion using HTTP{ URL} in that post But not any useful tips.

We have two multilayer switches and only one ASA 5520. I'd like to connect ASA in the way described on the picture: each redundant interface includes two physical ones, which are connected to different switches
My question is what kind of link it is necessary to have between switches to make this idea work? I'd have subinterfaces like Re1.100, Re2.200 and so on for my traffic.
I understand that correct design approach is to have two redundant firewalls with failover but we cannot purchase the second one yet.

I have a client that wants to segment their wireless network behind their ASA. We currently have a normal setup, 5510, 2 interfaces, outside, inside. On the inside network there are Cisco Wireless APs that allow for internal access to the network. We want to move the APs to a new interface on the ASA and only allow traffic bettwen this new "Wireless" network and the internal network by using remote user VPN. So my question is, can you use remote user VPN from the new Wireless network to the inside network??

I am having big problems trying to get what should be a rather simple configuration to work.I have a Cisco 2901 Router and have setup Zone Based Firewall on this.Traffic from the 192.168.223.x network does not pass through to the 192.168.1.x network.my traffic appears to disappear down the big bucket...Interesting I can ping machine on 192.168.223.0/24 network from the 192.168.1.0/24,So the static routes setup on the router on the 192.168.1.0/24 appear to be routing ok.

I have a question regarding firewall configurations. Is it possible to have two interfaces ( for two internet service providers) one for voice and one for data. Can I have two Outside Interfaces that one will apply to a pppoe client group and the other will apply to a static IP? Is this possible and if so What would be the steps on applying this connection? Also to note I have a point to point connection already established for the pppoe. I also have another point to point connection for data, but however I do not know how to apply this to the firewall.

I have a Cisco ASA 5510 configured to access the internet, with an:
inside interface (ethernet 0/1) 130.130.0.254 and outside interface (ethernet 0/0) x.x.x.x
I have now configured another inside interface (ethernet0/2) on ASA with the IP 172.16.0.254 and I have connected it directly to another switch with a management IP 172.16.0.5.
The problem is that the two inside interfaces (130.130.0.254 &172.16.0.254) cannot communicate with each other thus the e0/2 172.16.0.254 interface cannot access the internet.

How to force traffic back out the same interface from whence it entered. Review the following topology.
Internet ---> ASA 5510 ---> Static IP1 ---> F3.1 ---> 1811 F0
|-------> Static IP2 ---> F3.2 ---> 1811 F5 ---> VLAN Int
ASA F3.1 10.1.254.9/30
ASA F3.2 10.1.254.13/30
1811 F0 10.1.254.10/30
1811 F5 10.254.1.14/30
When pinging the public IP of ASA F3.2 from the internet a reply is never received because the default route on the 1811 points to ASA F3.1.
How do I get the replies from the 1811 to go back out the same interface from whence it entered ? I am sure the answer is policy-based routing, but not sure how to write the config.

I am working on a task of redirecting any unmatched http traffic to Symantec public transparent proxy through Cisco ASA. For the definition of uncatched http traffic, we have inbound squid servers for deploying IE proxy pac and redirect the http traffic to Symantec public transpraent proxy, however we can't deploy IE proxy pac to mobile device and non-support web browers.Since we have some application using IE proxy setting for direct http communication with external domains, the current symantec policy addes those domains in the exception list so that they are not redirect to Symantec public transparent proxy server.
-For the platform - Cisco ASA 5510 ASA 8.4(4)1
-For the solution, I have the following two nat rules
