Cisco Firewall :: 5510 - Get Internet Connectivity On ASA Inside Interfaces?

Dec 30, 2012

I have a Cisco ASA 5510 with 3 inside interfaces each connected to a 3750X switch port in a vlan. Outside interface is connected to external router with 209.155.x.x public IP. Static route exists for outbound traffic on outside interface.

3750X is configured for inter-vlan routing. VLANs 10, 20, and 30 have 172.16.x.1 IP address with static routes pointing to the each of the ASA inside interfaces - 172.16.x.254. Connected hosts are configured with gateways pointing to the appropriate vlan interface IP - 172.16.x.1.

Inter-vlan routing appears to be working - I can ping back and forth between hosts on different vlans, and I can ping each vlan IP.I can also ping each ASA inside interface from a host in the appropriate vlan, but I cannot ping internet sites (4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8) from hosts on the inside interfaces.

I can ping 4.2.2.2 from the ASA CLI. I can ping internal hosts on vlans 10,20,30 from the ASA CLI. But, no luck with pinging from inside host to internet hosts

Cisco WAN :: Forcing Traffic Through Specific Interfaces ASA 5510

Mar 6, 2012

How to force traffic back out the same interface from whence it entered.  Review the following topology.

Internet ---> ASA 5510 ---> Static IP1 ---> F3.1 ---> 1811 F0
                             |-------> Static IP2 ---> F3.2 ---> 1811 F5 ---> VLAN Int

ASA F3.1        10.1.254.9/30
ASA F3.2        10.1.254.13/30
1811 F0          10.1.254.10/30
1811 F5          10.254.1.14/30

When pinging the public IP of ASA F3.2 from the internet a reply is never received because the default route on the 1811 points to ASA F3.1.

How do I get the replies from the 1811 to go back out the same interface from whence it entered ? I am sure the answer is policy-based routing, but not sure how to write the config.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 / QOS For VOIP Traffic To And From Internet

Apr 20, 2011

We are using an ASA 5510 as our gateway to our ISP.  All of our VOIP traffic is sent to an Internet SIP provider for our outbound calls.  Our pipe to the Internet is 100Mbps metro ethernet.  I am trying to find a way to provide QoS for this traffic so that I can reserve 20Mbps of the available 100Mbps pipe for VOIP traffic. From what I've been able to figure out so far I would use a combination of priority queues and traffic policing.  However, it seems that this is nearly impossible to accomplish because I cannot control the remote device that my ASA connects to because it is the ISP device.  I could police traffic on the inside interface of the ASA.  However, lets say that a client on our network starts downloading from an Internet host and the downloaded traffic saturates my Internet connection.  I could police this incoming (from the Internet) traffic on my outside interface of the firewall.  This would drop the packets but the bandwidth would have already been used by the time it reaches my firewall.Would the fact that I'm policing incoming traffic on my outside interface cause the sender to throttle down their transmit rate because packets are being dropped?  Would this achieve my goal of guaranteeing available bandwidth for my VOIP traffic by not allowing other traffic to saturate the link? Most documents I find regarding this topic describe providing QoS for VOIP traffic traversing a VPN connection in which case you could configure both end devices.

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 Split Traffic Between VPN And Internet Using Different ISPs

Aug 25, 2011

What we are trying to accomplish here use two ISP's (one cable and one T1), use the Cable line for site-to-site VPN and use T1 line for all internet traffic. We currently use the following configuration: Cisco 2820 routers terminating the T1 -> HP switch -> Cisco AS 5510 port 0 -> port 1 to LAN switch (Nortel 5510)We want to force all VPN traffic (using 10.0.0.0/24 subnets - 10.0.1.0, 10.0.2.0, etc) through a cable connection, perhaps on port 2 of the ASA, then all non VPN traffic goes to the T1.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 - Dual Internet Connections / Routing DMZ Traffic

May 29, 2012

I am having an issue when implementing an additional internet connection on our ASA 5510. The new connection is "TWCOutside".  I was my understanding that static NAT would force our externally hosted servers (Email, PPTP VPN, and FTP) to continue to utilize the "ATTOutside" connection.  Our remote site-to-site VPN traffic has two static routes configured to force it to continue to use the ATTOutside connection. When I switch the metric on the 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 98.103.148.145 route to 1, and change out default dynamic xlate to use "TWCOutside", it "mostly" works as expected.  Email, the PPTP VPN server, and our remote site-to-site VPN server continue to use the ATTOutside connection as designed.  Our end users begin using the new connection for thier internet browsing.

However, our FTP server, in the DMZ, completley loses outside access.  It cannot ping to 8.8.8.8, or resolve DNS queries.  The is a static NAT statement for this server, as it is using one of our dedicated public IP addresses.  I need it to continue to do so for the next few weeks.Effectivley, we just want to give our end users internet browsing on the new TWC link, but leave everything else on the old ATT link for the time being.  The only problem I am having is the DMZ connection.  I am currently "rolled back", so no one is using the new connection until I figure this out.  I can easily switch the metric and dynamic PAT back to using the TWC connection, but I need to have some things to try with the DMZ before doing so. Cisco Firewall :: 5520 VPN Traffic Between Interfaces

Jun 12, 2011

Our ASA 5520 firewall is running 8.0(4) IOS.I have an internal L2L VPN terminating on my firewall (from an internal remote site) on ENG interface. With the default "sysopt connection permit-vpn" command enabled, VPN traffic is allowed to bypass the ENG interface acl.The security level on the ENG interface is set at 50.The security level on the destination interface PRODUCTION is set at 40.Inbound VPN traffic bypasses ENG interface acl and since higher-to-lower security level allows VPN traffic to flow freely from ENG to PRODUCTION, it seems the only place to check/filter VPN traffic is an ACL placed on the PRODCTTION interface and set at INBOUND (outbound VPN traffic).

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 Traffic Flow Between Interfaces

Jun 13, 2012

I am fairly new to configuring ASA's. I have an ASA 5505 with one outside interface and three inside interfaces (inside1, inside2, and management). I need inside1 and inside2 to be able to talk to eachother but cannot work out how to make this happen. They are both configured to the same security level and the 'Enable traffic between interfaces with same security level' box is ticked. I have also tried adding appropriate NAT and Access rules. The packet tracer suggests the rules are correct for allowing traffic flow between interfaces but obviosly this may not be the case.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA5505 - With Two Trusted Interfaces / Traffic Not Going Out Of Inside2?

Nov 14, 2011

I'm going nuts with this ASA5505. This is a secondary firewall used only in emergencies when the primary Checkpoint failes.

The basics, it has two trusted interfaces, E0/1 and E0/2-6. E0/1, inside2 has 192.168.01/29 and inside is 192.168.200.1/24.  I'd like any traffic to be allowed from inside and inside2 to outside and any traffic from the inside interfaces should be routed. No restrictions should apply between the two interfaces.

inside works just fine but no traffic is going out of inside2, not to outside or to inside.

Can I have two Outside Interfaces that one will apply to a pppoe client group and the other will apply to a static IP? Is this possible and if so What would be the steps on applying this connection? Also to note I have a point to point connection already established for the pppoe. I also have another point to point connection for data, but however I do not know how to apply this to the firewall.

Cisco Firewall :: Configure ASA To Send All Traffic From (3) VLans To Interfaces That Connects To 2960?

I have a an ASA 5520 connected to a Layer 3 (3750) switch (Inside) and a connection to a 2960 switch (Outside) to get to the internet. . I have created vlan interfaces on the 3750 switch and enabled ip routing on the switch to enable the vlans to communicate with each other.

Vlan Interfaces on the switch:
Vlan 100 172.17.1
Vlan 200 172.18.1
Vlan 300 192.168.3.1

I want the devices connected to the 3 vlans to be able to pass through the firewall and get out to the internet.I have connected the ASA to the 3750 by routed interfaces (10.10.10.1) --------- (10.10.10.2) and they are able to ping each other.I have also put a default route on the 3750 sending all traffic from the switch to the ASA inside interface (10.10.10.1)The issue that i am having is that the ASA also connects to a 2960 which has a connection to the Internet, and they are handing off an ethernet connection from the 2960 that sits in VLAN 55 (Vlan 55 is the Internet accessible vlan). How do I configure my ASA to send all traffic from my (3) vlans to the interfaces that connects to the 2960 switch?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 Redundant Interfaces With Stack Switches

Jun 10, 2013

we have two ASA 5510 connected in failover, and a pair of cisco 2960s switch connected in stack. Currently one interface of primary ASA is terminated on switch1 and a interface from standby is connected to switch2 as Inside, and switch1 and switch2 are in stack. for redundancy purpose i want to use multiple interfaces of ASA for inside , so first i thought to use etherchannel , but it has a limitation that , it cannot be terminated on stack switch(as per cisco document [URL]

So my question is :

1. can we use redundant interface feature where  2 physical interfaces combined to a redundant interface (eg interface redundant 1) for inside redundancy purpose.

2. Can these ports from primary/standby ASA terminated on stack switches (2960s), will this work (if the switch with active port goes down, will the other port take over in the redundant interface with the other switch).

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 / DMZ To Outside Only Traffic?

I have a classical "inside + DMZ + outside" configuration.I also have a mail server in DMZ which have to be allowed to reach any destination on the outside (internet) at least on the SMTP port, of course. If I make an access rule that allows traffic from that server to "any", everything works fine, but doing so the server is allowed to reach any destination, including what is behind the inside interface (internal network).I didn't find any other option to tell the ASA machine to allow any destination, but on the outside interface only.I do believe is possibile to have the ASA to allow any kind of traffic from a host on the DMZ to the outside interface only, but I didn't figure out how.

P.S.: I'm using a 5510 machine running version 8.2

Cisco Firewall :: ASA-5510 - SIP ACL Traffic Not Working

Jun 11, 2013

I have an ASA with an outside ACL that is configured to allow 208.84.248.95 SIP/5060 to 1x.x.x.46.  I show no hits.  I added an ACL to do a packet capture, it sees the packet coming into the ASA but not going to the Serv Prov interface.  I see hits on the vuong ACL but not the production acl_out ACL..  What is up?

NOTE:ACL_out is the ACL we use to allow outside traffic to enter our network.
FW1(config)# sh access-list | i 1.x.x.46
access-list acl_out line 1 extended permit ip host 63.x.x.140 host 1x.x.x.46 (hitcnt=0) 0xc09a9387  (*NO HITS)
access-list acl_out line 658 extended permit udp host 208.84.248.95 host 1x.x.x.46 eq sip (hitcnt=0) 0x0f327179  (NO HITS)
[code]...

It was tested and verified from the inside network to make sure the server is listening on that port. Below we created an ACL to allow all IP from another test PC to the Server IP 1x.x.x.46.  We did a telnet to port 5060 and it showed hits but not on the acl_out ACL.

ccess-list vuong line 1 extended permit ip host 63.x.x.140 host 1x.x.x.46 (hitcnt=0) 0x2759fa92
FW1(config)# q
FW1# capture capture1 access-list vuong interface outside
[code]...

Below we applied the same ACL to the ServProv interface to see if traffic was going where it was supposed to .  By trying to telnet to the 1x.x.x46 IP from 63.x.x.140 IP.  Looking below, no traffic appeared on the capture2.

FW1# capture capture2 access-list vuong interface ServProv
FW1# sh capture capture2
0 packet captured
0 packet shown
[code]...

Capture 1 above shows the last 3 incoming messages initiated from 63.x.x.140 to the 1x.x.x.46! Vuong ACL belows shows 3 more hits.....nothing on the acl_out ACL???

FW1# sh access-list vuong
