Cisco Firewall :: Unable To Create VLAN Interfaces In ASA 5510
Nov 13, 2011Unable to create VLAN interfaces in ASA 5510
View 1 RepliesUnable to create VLAN interfaces in ASA 5510
View 1 RepliesI am trying to setup intervlan routing with a Cisco ASA 5510 and two 2960-S switches. The 5510 currently is using ASA Version 7.0(2) and has a base license. I tried to create a sub interface today based on some info I found regarding the routing piece and it didn't recognize the command. I'm thinking I may need to update the IOS code or the license on the firewall. I know the syntax was correct because I looked it up and found it in a Cisco document.

I can create vlan but i cannot run this command " switchport mode trunk" " "switchport trunk allowed vlan list" how can be done for that?
Actually i want to use like thisASA5510-----4 vlans on eth 0/3------switch----vlan200,vlan210,vlan250,vlan220.
May I know the reason why we cannot create interface vlan on Cisco ASA 5510?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are suffering an issue with ASDM 7.1(1) on a 5525-X with 9.1(1) software. In the Configuration --> Interfaces window, I can modify parameters on physical interfaces, I can modify parameter on subinterfaces, but I cannot create new subinterfaces or Etherchannels through ASDM.
When I create a subinterface, entering all parameters, interface name, vlan id, security level, etc., then I click on "Apply" button and nothing happens. It doesn't send anything to ASA. If I click on another window, ASDM ask for applying changes, I click on it, but nothing is applied and window doesn't change. It happens only when creating new interfaces. If I create them through CLI, then I can modify parameters without any problem.
I have tried re-installing java and I have tested with 6.31, 7.9, 7.11, 7.17 Java versions, from Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server and Windows 7 computers with same issue. Also with Linux Mint distro with IcedTea Java.
I am trying to figure out how to create an etherchannel with sub-interfaces on an asa 5520 running 8.4.1 code. It doesn't seem to allow me to configure any type of sub interface on the port-channel or anywhere else once I create it.

This is for an ASA 5505 with the base license...I have a situation where I will not have one interface in my outside VLAN, but instead I want to have interfaces 1-7 in my outside VLAN and interface0/0 in my inside VLAN.
Is this supported with the Base license, and if so how would I do this? Do I still just need to assign one IP address to the outside VLAN?
Or will I need to upgrade to the Security Plus license and put each interface in a separate outside VLAN, so in essence I would have 7 outside VLANs each with the same security level (0)?
My situation is that I have several partner networks that i want to "aggregate" thru my one ASA 5505. So each outside interface represents a separate partner (outside) network, each of which I want to get to from my inside network. Hence the many outside to one inside.
Can ASA sub-interfaces run separate IP Sec VPN tunnels eg
There are 02 sub-interfaces of 01 physical interface of Cisco ASA5510 [ASA Version 8.2(5)] and I need to run 01 IP Sec VPN tunnel on each of these
How can i enable Netflow for each Vlan Or interface indvidually in Cisco ASA? currently i have setup Netflow and only 2 interfaces are shwoing traffic for Netflow which are not even as my physical or Vlan interfaces . (see screen shot )

Totally it had 5 ports..
How to provide communication between two different interfaces which had configured as same security level?
How many trunks will support ASA 5510 with base-license?
How to configure trunk to an interface with different VLNs( Router on a stick).
I have ASA5510 with PLUSE License.I have 2 Inside interfaces as STAFF and MAIL and two Outside interface OUT_STAFF and OUT_MAIL which is in separate ISP's.now i want to nat STAFF to OUT_STAFF and MAIL to OUT_MAILbecause I'm having two default routes it gets impossible to do.

I have a question regarding firewall configurations. Is it possible to have two interfaces ( for two internet service providers) one for voice and one for data. Can I have two Outside Interfaces that one will apply to a pppoe client group and the other will apply to a static IP? Is this possible and if so What would be the steps on applying this connection? Also to note I have a point to point connection already established for the pppoe. I also have another point to point connection for data, but however I do not know how to apply this to the firewall.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco ASA 5510 configured to access the internet, with an:
inside interface (ethernet 0/1) 130.130.0.254 and outside interface (ethernet 0/0) x.x.x.x
I have now configured another inside interface (ethernet0/2) on ASA with the IP 172.16.0.254 and I have connected it directly to another switch with a management IP 172.16.0.5.
The problem is that the two inside interfaces (130.130.0.254 &172.16.0.254) cannot communicate with each other thus the e0/2 172.16.0.254 interface cannot access the internet.
I need to route to sub nets form 2 different ASA interfaces. The ASA also has an outside interface works like gateway for internet access. Here is my configuration:
ASA Version 8.2(1)
host name ICE3

interface Ethernet0/0

I need to create a DMZ Vlan. Core switch is a 6509. FW is an ASA5520. Need to create a VLAN for DMZ purposes for outside facing servers. NAT is used on ASA.
View 7 Replies View Relatedwe have two ASA 5510 connected in failover, and a pair of cisco 2960s switch connected in stack. Currently one interface of primary ASA is terminated on switch1 and a interface from standby is connected to switch2 as Inside, and switch1 and switch2 are in stack. for redundancy purpose i want to use multiple interfaces of ASA for inside , so first i thought to use etherchannel , but it has a limitation that , it cannot be terminated on stack switch(as per cisco document [URL]
So my question is :
1. can we use redundant interface feature where 2 physical interfaces combined to a redundant interface (eg interface redundant 1) for inside redundancy purpose.
2. Can these ports from primary/standby ASA terminated on stack switches (2960s), will this work (if the switch with active port goes down, will the other port take over in the redundant interface with the other switch).
I have a Cisco ASA 5510 with 3 inside interfaces each connected to a 3750X switch port in a vlan. Outside interface is connected to external router with 209.155.x.x public IP. Static route exists for outbound traffic on outside interface.
3750X is configured for inter-vlan routing. VLANs 10, 20, and 30 have 172.16.x.1 IP address with static routes pointing to the each of the ASA inside interfaces - 172.16.x.254. Connected hosts are configured with gateways pointing to the appropriate vlan interface IP - 172.16.x.1.
Inter-vlan routing appears to be working - I can ping back and forth between hosts on different vlans, and I can ping each vlan IP.I can also ping each ASA inside interface from a host in the appropriate vlan, but I cannot ping internet sites (4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8) from hosts on the inside interfaces.
I can ping 4.2.2.2 from the ASA CLI. I can ping internal hosts on vlans 10,20,30 from the ASA CLI. But, no luck with pinging from inside host to internet hosts
I need to be able to create vlans in my ASA 5510.
I can'T find anywhere to do this.
I've tried the "routers command" I know, like vlan databse and it does'nt work
Is there a way to "enable" vlan on a ASA 5510 ?
Successfully creating a port-forward in ASA5510, ASA version 8.3(1) ASDM6.3(1)?I have spend hours now trying, but I'm still unsuccessful. What I want is a simple: "if this particular ip-adress hits the wan interface on this tcp-port redirect to this inside ip-address on this tcp-port.I have never had any trouble on any other firewall creating something like this, but the ASA is killing me.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded my ASA 5510 to 8.3 code and honestly I am confused on the best and most efficient way to do many nat translations through it. I have a group of about 100 IP's that need http/https/and sqlnet allowed through for our web farm.
I have a text file with the real and translated IP addresses and in 8.2 I could simply modify it and dump the thing in and make the NAT rules and access-lists. Now with the new object based model I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around how to do this using as few lines of code as possible.
Do I have to create an network object for each and every IP i want to nat through?
I'd like to create dhcp server pool on ASA 5510. I was wondering how big is the DHCP scope that Cisco ASA 5510 can support? Are there any ASA models which can support up to subnet mask 22 for DHCP scope?

One of our customers has asked us to Nat from the LAN to the Voice LAN based on destination IP address in order to access a public phone server through a vendor managed voice router..

Voice------------------------->
172.16.20.0/24 172.16.20.254/24
Here the ASA5510 has an interface in both networks and the inside network can ping the voice network through the firewall by using non at acls. The phone server can only talk to the 172.16.20.0/24 network. So I need to nat the 10.10.1.0/20 network to the Voice interface on the ASA 172.16.20.254/24.
So I think I need the following static but I get the error below:

Whether it is possible to have same vlan on multiple interface on ASA 5510 and higher models ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on the exact same configuration as noted here [URL] that uses subinterfaces on the asa. I have two interfaces on my stacked 3750's configured as trunk ports (primary ASA on primary 3750 stack member, secondary ASA on secondary 3750 stack member).
My questions is what should the DG be configured on the 3750. Can I keep the 3750 in L2 or will I have to enable L3 routing? Should the VLAN interfaces be configured.
The port that the ASA is configured with has 3 subinterfaces on VLAN 100, 200, and 300.
The subinterfaces are G0/2.100, G0/2.200, and G0/2.300.I am in the middle of converting from 3 separate DMZ switches, each attached to their own port on the asa which is their default gateway to one physical port on the ASA broken into 3 subinterfaces which then connect to stacked 3750's. The stack will then have the 3 separate DMZs in actual separate VLANs.
My goal is to leave the default gateway for each dmz on the ASA so I don't have to modify other areas of the ASA config.
I have some problem with the ASA 5510 ver 7.0(6). My manager wants to keep this as backup. tried lots of things but still users not able to access internet nor can i ping anywhere. For example when i ping 4.2.2.2 i dont get any reply. The runing config is below for ur ref :

we have a base license ASA 5510, and been trying to get ICMP working to check that we're routing and not hitting any NAT translation. We have a VLAN280 setup to ISP for VPN link to remote site and another VLAN281 for internet access for internal users.
Users can browse internet from (name _inside interface e0/1 access port) which is fine. When I do a ping to remote office through the VPN I get a response pinging from VLAN280 name VPN_Link. When I do a ping from name inside interface I don't get a response both are security level 100 with same-security-traffic permit inter-interface configured.

We have a small cisco 1800 series workgroup router that seperates our network from the outside world. The data coming into our network goes into the router on interface fa0/1 and comes out on interface fa0/0. fa0/0 is split into 2 sub-interfaces (fa0/0.2 and 0/0.3). These sub-interfaces correspond to a desktop and server vlan on our network. The workgroup router is connected to a 3560G trunk port (we'll call it switch 1) and switch 1 connects to another 3560G (we'll call it switch 2). Recently I was asked to add another layer of security to our network by installing an ASA 5510 firewall and forcing certain types of traffic to authenticate using their domain credentials for our network. The firewall was set up between the router and switch 1 in transparent, multi-context mode. There are 2 security contexts, 1 for the desktop vlan and 1 for the server. Both have the same security settings applied to them since we want the same behavior regardless of whether they are trying to access the servers or the workstations.
