Cisco Firewall :: ASA5510 Cannot Connect To Site Through Appliance

Mar 22, 2011

I have an @Remote appliance through Ricoh for our copiers.  This appliance connects to their site to transfer meter readings and other information.  This appliance can't connect to their site to transmit data.  Ricoh is telling me the problem is on our firewill.  I have assigned the Ricoh appliance a static IP address in our network.  Our firewall is a Cisco ASA 5510.  I don't have much expereince with logging on the ASA, so I'm not sure what "teardown dynamic TCP translation from inside" means.  Is there something that is preventing this IP from contacting the Ricoh site? I'm new to IT, and have been put in charge of managing our servers hile my boss is on vacation. We currently have a Sonicwall Network Security Appliance that handles our Firewall/VPN and have web content filtering set in place.I have a user who belongs to 2 CFS policy groups that we have set up. I've double checked with Active Directory, and he is a member of both groups.

This person SHOULD have access to Job searches/ and Restaurants, but receives a "content blocked" message on his browser. It appears to me that the settings in Sonicwall are correct, as well with AD member groups.

Cisco Firewall :: Have Both IPS And Content Security On ASA5510?

Aug 14, 2012

We want to have a ASA5510 with both IPS function and Content Security feature, while I checked on Cisco website, looks like ASA5510 or 5520 only have one SSM slot, so I can only use either AIP module or CSC module, does it mean I can not get both features at the same time.
Right now I want to have IPS function and anti-spam, anti-virus, antiphishing, content filtering, URL blocking such feature, so what do I need to buy to have all of these function in one device?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA5510 - Same Security Level VLan Routing?

Jun 25, 2011

I'm facing a problem with two vlans. Each vlan has internet access by NAT.
In each vlan there is at least one server, who should be accessible from the other vlan and vice versa.
The function "same-security-traffic permit inter-interface" doesn't work, because NAT control is in place - so an expert.
Some experts told me it's not possible to route back out the same interface, and also not route back out the seperate subinterfaces as well.

3560 - Filter / Security Appliance Recommendations?

Oct 16, 2012

I am looking for recommendations on a device to put at the forefront of our network, mainly for web content filtering. Our network is currently setup as this:We have two Internet providers. One for each network that are physically separate except a a Cisco 3560 which is used for failover. In the event one ISP goes down, one network can use the others ISP, however, it has no access to the other network beyond that switch.Currently, each network has a web content filter (SmartFilter) server which is going end of life in a year. We would like to replace each server with a single box at the front of the network for filtering. Other bonuses would be things such as bandwidth control, virus protection, etc.Perhaps the most important thing is to make sure our ISP bandwidth download speed does not get hampered by the device we choose to put at the front. We have 50mb download on one and 30mb on the other. If the device throttles the download at 10mb then it's useless to us.

Cisco Security :: Reimage MARS 25 Appliance For Admin Password Recovery Procedure

Apr 25, 2011

I am trying to reimage a Cisco MARS 25 appliance for the pnadmin password recovery procedure. I am trying to boot the system with Recovery DVD (Version 5.3.2) shipped with the appliance. I connected a VGA monitor and USB keyboard to the appliance and when I do a reboot, I can see the Installation options. Please Choose A MARS Model To Install...

1. Distributed Mars - Local Controller But I am not able to select the Option 1 for the reimaging of Local Controller since my keyboard is not responding for the selections. During the LILO boot process, I can see some error message that 'Keyboard Not Present'. I tried to connect the keyboard to different USB ports and the PS/2 port using a USB to PS/2 adapter. Still keyboard is not functioning.I am able to select the BIOS options while connecting the USB keyboard to appliance. But it is not functioning when booting from Recovery DVD. Also the keyboard is functioning if I boot the appliance directly with previous image. Unfortunately I dont have any PS/2 keyboard available for connecting and admin password for Login. Is there any workaround/solution for supporting the USB keyboard during the Recovery Procedure ?I tried the serial connection with hyperterminal but some junk charaters appear even after setting the recomended Baud rate, parity, flow control etc.The Ethernet console seems not working with the default IP address for eth1.

2. Distributed Mars - Global Controller

Cisco Application :: ACE4710 Appliance To ANM Virtual Appliance NATed

Oct 12, 2011

We have an ACE Appliance in a DMZ and the ACE Appliance's Admin Context IP is translated between ACE and ANM. The ANM Server does not get translated. It is just the opposite then in another Community discussion.
Our Problem: When adding the ACE4710 Appliance to the ANM imported Device List, we use the ACE's NATed Admin Context IP. Import works well, but ANM reflects the Admin Context IP with it's real configured IP. Polling the ACE Appliance does not work therefore.
Is there a possibility of telling the ANM, that the ACE has to be polled through a NATed IP? I could not find a field to set a NATed Mgmt IP.
Configured IP on ACE Admin Context:
NATed ACE Admin  Context IP:
Imported ACE with IP into ANM, but ANM polls for Rserver, Vserver, Probes, etc. via - which is not reachable from the ANM.

Cisco Firewall :: Support Of Jumbo Frames On ASA 5500 Firewall Appliance?

Feb 28, 2010

Can any ASA 5500 in particular the ASA5510 firewall support jumbo frames (i.e. greater than the default standard 1500 Bytes frames)?. I plan to use the ASAs to setup a point-to-point IPSec tunnel and need an Application frame of 4Kbytes intact and not segment it.I have done little checking on the Cisco Website and see it mention of Jumbo frames on the 5580 on 10Gig interface but didn't see mention 5510. 5580s are way over-kill and expensive for what I need is to run a mission critical one IPSec point-to-point with maximum of no more than 100Kbps so 5510 is perfect for me but not sure if it can carry the jumbo frame?
On the routers and switches it's the MTU settings and they are configurable per interface and I am OK and the circuit is T1 which the Telcos said it's OK since it's physical layer so the only unkown is the firewall.

Cisco Security :: Fan Direction In ASA5510

Jan 16, 2012

I'm using a couple of ASA5510's since a few years in a few datacenters, and I wonder about the following:
Usually the ASA's are positioned with the connectors facing to the back of the 19" cabinets, so one can easily connect the device to other networking-hardware. In many datacenters nowadays, cold-coridors are used, which results in a forced airflow through the cabinet, which is empowered by the fans in the servers itself. But the ASA's are permanently blowing air in the opposite direction, and are also taking the air from the part of the cabinet where the air is as hot as it gets.

Is it a good practice to open up the ASA and flip the fans 180 degrees to solve this?

Cisco Security :: Load Balancing With ASA5510

Aug 29, 2011

We have an ASA5510 with two ADSL lines connected and the auto fail-over set up - this is all tested and if the main line fails, the backup line is used in it's place - no problem there.
However, I'd like to increase our connection speed, and one way I've done this in the past is to add a couple of extra ADSL lines to a router that is capable of load balancing.
I'm aware that the ASA5510 does not load balance (seems a waste as we've got the backup line just sitting there doing nothing!), but would it be feasible to add another router in front of the ASA device to perform this load balancing function?

While i know I can move most of the config unto the ASA, i know that the CME cannot be moved, hence I would like to do the setup such that users on the network still have access to CME.

Cisco Firewall :: Configuring Ironport C160 Email Appliance

Sep 20, 2011

One interace is setup as the management interface on a 1 subnet  (which is our main network/domain).
Second interace is setup on a 2 subnet (eventually this will be configured to receive incoming/outgoingmail)

I copied most of the settings from our old firewall for testing purposes.  I can ping our old email firewall which on 2 subnet from our main subnet (1) successfully.

The only way I can get a successful ping with the Ironprot is to have the management interface hooked into our main network.  We don't want this.  We do have Ironport firewall and Webfilter setup similar and working fine.Is there someway I can configure this unit to allow both subnets to talk successfully to each other without having the managment interface connected all the time?
