Cisco :: Integrate Remote Syslog Collector With LMS 4.1
Jul 7, 2012
We have LMS 4.1 in our network. We had recently installed Remote Syslog Collector on a new Server to collect logs from all the devices. How can we integrate the Remote Syslog Collector with the LMS Server?
I'm using CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 and I need to activate a remote syslog collector.Installation occur without errors and the test subscription is fine but syslog reports are always empty! These two servers need to communicate through a firewall.I'm not able to define a correct rule, a "permit ip any any" does not work also!
my LMS 4.2, syslog collector on LMS doesnt working even service syslog collector running normaly and also i saw in syslog_info is working to collect syslog from all router but not show up in dashboard monitoring.I have setting on every router to logging (ip address LMS) but on LMS no any syslog from router can collect.i did a selftest from LMS there are all PASS except nslookup fail, it is has relation with syslog not show up on dashboard?
I have a couple of Cisco 2960's sending syslog messages to a remote syslog-ng on port 514 (standard).
I need to set another Swtich so it sends traffic to the same syslog server but on another UDP port (such as 714),, is that possible,? I cannot find the option on the documentation.
Add the ability to send syslog events to multiple syslog servers in the SA500 Series routers. I know the functionality is currently in the RV220W because we utilized it. It would be great if you could configure the syslog servers by event type as well. For example, being able to send the kernel events to syslog server A, and all other events to syslog server B.
Recently i have upgraded the IOS of ASA5550 (in HA mode) to 8.4.2 from 8.0.5, after OS upgrade we found that the syslog from thses firewalls are not getting captured/transfered to centralised syslog server. The server is reachable from the firewalls.
I've noticed a problem with log collector on the secondary acs server. It suddenly stopped to collect logs. So, current acs version is 5.1.0.44.3 and all processes were running. During this time, ACS sent a couple of authentication reports in the monitoring system. But they can not be viewed through ACS Monitoring&Report system. The problem was solved by rebooting the server.
We got 2 Cisco ACS 5.2.0.26.10.Primary server as authentication server and log collector.Secondary server as authentication server. Replication is configured. url..."There are some exceptions to this usual setup, which you can handle as described below: If the ACS 5.3 primary server also functions as a log collector in your 5.3 deployment, you should promote any one of the secondary servers as primary server in the deployment. See Promoting a Secondary Server to Primary "
This exception matches with my case. I have to promote my secondary server as primary.I would have :Secondary server as authentication server and log collector.Primary server as authentication server. I think I have to deregister secondary from primary server..According to the guide, I have to upgrade the log collector server. "Step 1: Choose any secondary server to become a log collector:" I dont have another secondary server..
I'm trying to create a LMS 3.2 IPM Collector, but no source devices appears in the wizard.I have the Auto Mode Enable in the Auto Allocation Settings, and in IPM Devices I can see all my devices. ¿
i have a cisco ACS version 5.0, I need to authenticate a wireless users connected to WLC 2100 controller when i connect the controller to a Dot1x port in the switch , the port go down.
I have three ASA5505, two firewalls connected to central VPN hub. the central inside network is 192.168.0.0/24,Network A is 192.168.1.0/24,Network B is 192.168.2.0/24,In one of this site (central), I have server with NetFlow collector.,I will collect the traffic information from all ASA at the my one serverCan I configure source IP address (or source interface - inside) for NetFlow packet, originate from ASA? (for example from site A)If it is not possible I think, I can rewrite my access lists and permit udp traffic from outside interface to server IP like this:access-list VPNACL permit udp host <Outside IP site A> host <Inside IP the Server> eq 9996,But I do not understand, what port I must be use in access list on Central site ASA. ,access-list VPNACL_A permit udp host <Inside IP the Server> host <Outside IP site A> eq 9996 ? or, in this place, must be source port in the udp netflow packet?
I recently installed a 2951 with a security plus license..I hate it (security featuers not router) and would like to put the asa back in place.how to integrate the asa with the 2951, I believe I need to run it in multi context mode.
We have a core 6500 switch that has a PRI module in it that binds (4) T1 lines together and we also have a 2600 Rtr that binds 4 other T1 lines together and pipes them into a ASA5520. We are changing WAN vendors but still have to maintain the (8) T1 connections until our contract runs out, which will be in a few years. The 8 T1's are not enough bandwith for our operation and we will be adding a 20meg WAN link in the next month. What I am trying to figure out is how to best integrate 3 different WAN links into one LAN. What I am thinking of doing is to leave the 6500 core switch as is and then to purchase a router that can hold (4) T1 wics and the 20meg link. Is it possible to bind those 5 links together even though they are different vendors?
I have installed 4 unit Cisco Aironet 1250 acting as Autonomous AP each. I want to integrate these AP to Windows Active Directory for authentication level.
When I read configuration guide on Cisco Aironet, they must be authenticated via RADIUS server.
Is it possible that these AP directly authenticated to Active Directory via LDAP protocol?
We are looking at possibly adding a second 5508 controller to our network and running in HA mode. I see now that there are 5760's available that run on IOS. Is there any way we can integrate a 5760 into our existing network instead of going with a second 5508? I would prefer to invest in newer hardware whenever possible.
Can ASA 5510 be configured as bridge mode and still send Netflow info to a collector?ie have a PIX connect internal network to internet. Because PIX does not support NetFlow, as a temporary solution, we were thinking of putting an ASA 5510 between the PIX and internet gateway, and configure it as a bridge so that there will be no routing issues, and the ASA can still send Netflow info to a collector.

I have a question. What is the requirement of integrate ACS 4.2 Appliance and AD about CA server? it has to be windows 2003 server enterprice o windows 2008 enterprice? or it can be windows 2003 and 2008 stand alone? another question is about multi domain, i have domain father and children. the installation of CA Server is in domain father to enable 802.1x with AD with all domain children integrate? or I can be install the CA server in the server of domain children and is it work (CA server installed in server in domain child and it working all domains child and father)?
I planning to integrate cisco asa5505 device in runing enviornment for filter ip traffic.Internet ----router----ciscoasa----lan.Ip series is public(25.263.25.0/24) througout of network (no privateIP)now how do I set asa in such case and filter traffic from comming into lan and going out to internet.
We having ACS version 5.2 0.26 with Active/Standby. We need to integrate active directory with ACS. Domain name given by Server team was as xyzcompy.local. When I tried to resolve the same domain name I got five servers ip address against the same domain name. however we given the ip reachability to only for two servers. We we try to save we get error saying that "Can not resolve the network address".
So my questions are;
- does ACS should have ip reachaibility to all five servers
- does the username/password we entered in the ACS should have domain admin rights?.
- the given AD is configured with windows NTP [URL] but when we configured ACS as windows NTP it was taking local server as active NTP..?
When we check the ACS logs, we saw the following error;
in acsLocalStore: AdminName=acsadmin, DomainName=qatarconvention.local, ADOperationResult=unable to create secured connection against AD server, switching to non-secured connection. javax.naming.CommunicationException: simple bind failed: qnccad02.xxxxconvention.local:636 [Root exception is java.net.SocketException: Connection reset], in ACSADAgent; 32484]: INFO dns.findsrv FindSrvFromDns failed: res_query failed _ldap._tcp.xxxxconvention.local Sep 4 12:43:20 acs01-cc4 adjoin[32484]: INFO cli.adjoin Join to domain 'xxxxconvention.local', zone 'null' failed.
I attached some screen print which saw the error and output of nslookup for the domain name.
I cannot integrate Virtual MSE 7.3.101 with my Prime Infrastructure 1.2 After I setup MSE via its wizard, I make a change on WCS username and password. When I try to integrate MSE with Prime Infrastructure, Prime notify me about the mismatch username/password.
I have a 2951 which i want to integrate to the CUCM and wish to plug a Siemens ISDX into it which is the best card to use NM-HDV2-1T1/E1 or WIC2-2MFT-T1/E1? its QSIG
I would like to integrate our intranet web page with Cisco WLC 2500. Is it possible to integrate custom web page with WLC. I know, that I can create custom authentication page, but what about creation of the user?
I need to integrate Cisco ISE and WLC5508 with FlexConnect (local switching) using EAP-TLS security for wireless clients across multiple floors (dynamic VLAN assignments based on floor level). The AP model used is 3602.
- What RADIUS Attribute can be used for dynamic VLAN assignments based on floor level? Is there an option where I can group all LWAPs in same floor for getting certain VLAN from ISE?
- I intend to use WLC software version 7.2 since 7.3 is latest version. Has someone use WLC software version 7.3 without any major bugs/issues pertaining to FlexConnect and EAP-TLS?
- I read some documents saying L3 roaminig is where the associated WLC has changed. However if user move to different subnet but still associated to the same WLC, would this be consider as L3 roaming too?
I have a 2821 ciso router and i want to setup a vpn for my windows domain users , they must to reach the domain from outside. There is posibile to intregrate Active directory auth with pptp running on 2821 router? kind of dialin via radius server(IAS running on windows server 2003).
when we try to configure syslog to run over tcp it seems Cisco routers (12.4) do not send proper messages as syslog server does not record anything!Tested with syslog-ng (Linux) and Kiwi (windows) and both syslog servers have the same problem. These are some indications of the possible syslog tcp problems:

Apparently Cisco ASA (8.2) seem to process this well!
We have two ASA 5500 series Firewalls running 8.4(1). One in New York, another in Atlanta. They are configured identically for simple IPSecV1 remote access for clients. Authentication is performed by an Radius server local to each site.
There are multiple IPSec Site-to-Site tunnels on these ASA's as well but those are not affected by the issues we're having.First, let me start with the famous last words, NOTHING WAS CHANGED.
All of a sudden, we were getting reports of remote users to the Atlanta ASA timing out when trying to bring up the tunnel. They would get prompted for their ID/Password, then nothing until it times out.Sames users going to the NY ASA are fine. After extensive troubleshooting, here is what I've discovered. Remote clients will authenticate fine to the Atlanta Firewall ONLY IF THEY ARE USING A WIRED CONNECTION.
If they are using the wireless adapter for their client machine, they will get stuck trying to login to Atlanta. These same clients will get into the New York ASA with no problems using wired or wireless connections.Windows 7 clients use the Shrewsoft VPN client and Mac clients use the Cisco VPN client. They BOTH BEHAVE the same way and fail to connect to the Atlanta ASA if they use their wireless adapter to initiate the connection.
Using myself as an example.
1. On my home Win 7 laptop using wireless, I can connect to the NY ASA with no issues.
2. The same creditials USED to work for Atlanta as well but have now stopped working. I get stuck until it times out.
3. I run a wire from my laptop to the FiOS router, then try again using the same credentials to Atlanta and I get RIGHT IN.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would the far end of the cloud care if I have a wired or wireless network adapter? I should just be an IP address right? Again, this is beyond my scope of knowledge. We've rebuilt and moved the Radius server to another host in Atlanta in our attempts to troubleshoot to no avail. We've also rebooted the Atlanta Firewall and nothing changed.
We've tried all sorts of remote client combinations. Wireless Internet access points from different carriers (Clear, Verizon, Sprint) all exhibit the same behavior. Once I plug the laptops into a wired connection, BAM, they work connecting to Atlanta. The New York ASA is fine for wired and wireless connections. Same with some other remote office locations that we have.
Below I've detailed the syslog sequence on the Atlanta ASA for both a working wired remote connection and a failed wireless connection. At first we thought the AAA/Radius server was rejecting us but is shows the same reject message for the working connection. Again, both MAC and Windows clients show the same sequence.Where the connection fails is the "IKE Phase 1" process.

I have an issue with rme 4.2 from LMS 3.1 When I try to generate a syslog report this shows me nothing. I locate SyslogCollector.log file and I see sometnig wrong.
