Jun 12, 2013

If you are using load balancing how do you bind i.e. all HTTPS traffic to i.e. wan1. RV042G V2 you can inter 0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0 as Source IP to forward from all IPs, how do you do that with a V3?

Cisco Routers :: Server Access Through RV042G With SMB Protocol On MAC 10.6.8

Sep 4, 2012

Our lab recently purchased a RV042G to setup a subnet (I don't know if this is the correct term) within our company's network. Eventually we like to put a dozen computers on this subnet along with a 24TB NAS drive for data storage. We like the computers in the subnet to be able to access the company's numerous servers.

To test the router setup before going all out, I have a WinXP SP3 computer and a MAC OSX 10.6.8 computer hooked up to it. Both computers can access the Internet just fine. The WinXP computer can access company servers thru the RUN command ("\servernameshare"), but the MAC is having issues with the SMB protocol ("smb://servername/share"). The same MAC if plugged directly to the network has no issues connecting to the company server.

Is this not working because the RV042G doesn't support SMB? or did I do something wrong with setting up the router? By the way, firewall is turned off, since the company already has its own firewall.

Cisco Routers :: RV042G - Protocol Binding And VPN With Load Balancing

Oct 6, 2012

I have dual WAN connections on rv042G in "office 1". LAN is 192.168.10.x

A gateway to gateway VPN is made with another "office 2" on rv042G too.

The goal is to reach the LAN of the other "office 2" : 192.168.5.x

Working good. Now I need to use protocol binding : One LAN ip need to use WAN 2 : All traffic :192.168.10.77~77(0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0)WAN2 -> Working

The rest of LAN should use WAN 1 (same as the VPN) When I create this rules, I can't reach the "office 2" LAN : All traffic : 192.168.10.100~150(0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0)WAN1

What should I do to make it works ?

Cisco Routers :: RV042G - ProtectLink Enabled To Filter Out Various Categories From Network Traffic

Jun 29, 2012

I have upgraded to the new RV042G to take advantage of the gigabit Ethernet speeds and to prepare for when our ISP upgrades our bandwidth. I currently use the RV042 with Protect Link enabled to filter out various categories from our network traffic. I noticed that this feature is not included with the RV042G.

Is this something Cisco will decide to add back in later? In the meantime, how to block content on the network? The basic URL and keyword filter will not meet our needs, since it is much easier to let a service such as Trend Micro manage what is blocked in the categories they offer.

Any issues with IOS 12.4(16) through 12.4(25f) with HTTP/HTTPS protocols running on a 3825 router? I have a remote site that accesses a corporate application over an MPLS, sometimes it works fine, other times it will hang for hours. No errors on circuits, interfaces, ethernet interfaces, etc. Response times are averaging 50ms even when the application freezes. The only thing I can think of is that it could be an issue with the IOS version.

Checking the CPU usage shows the CPU is hovering around 5-20% at the worst of timesThere is about 10 machines behind this router and they do not do that much intensive work over the link besides Outlook Anywhere (HTTPS)I have put a ACL on the LAN connection to only allow 1 machine in and still no luckI have also updated the IOS to c870-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T4.binAll other traffic runs fine over the link and there are no complaints on standard HTTP traffic

Cisco Routers :: RV042G One-to-one NAT?

Sep 24, 2012

I purchased RV042G and setup one-to-one NAT problem to several servers. ometimes the NAT servers lost the internet connection. My case as below

ISP provide two set Public IP Address , one modem
e.g.
set one) 100.100.1.2-6, gateway 100.100.1.1
set two) 200.200.2.2-6, gateway 200.200.2.1

[code]....

All computers and servers (one-to-one NAT) outbound and inbound all work fine. After several hours, only the servers (one-to-one NAT) alert internet connection broken, but the computers (non NAT) still have internet connection.

What's the problem occurs? Why only one-to-one NAT servers lost the connection? and Why only serveral hours later, the server lost the internet connection.

If I changed the WAN setting to same as subnet of the one-to-one NAT, it doesn't occur any problem.

It has defaulted to loadblanacing with the second WAN however I want to have the second wan's public IP be used by my server and only the server however I wish for the server to still be on the lan so I can use HYPER-V's brided network connection feature to run VMs on the lan, and I would like their wan connection to be from wan 1... as for the entire lan except the server at 192.168.2.4 Is this possible, I can't seem to get the 1-to-1 NAT to do it?

Cisco Routers :: RV042G And Public IPs

Feb 6, 2013

I have an issue with routing public IPs on the RV042G.  I have been able to route the IP's in a couple of different ways, but there is always a nagging problem.

I have a PPPoE Business Class account with 5 routable public IP's.  I would like to route the IPs and manage the private network using the RV042G.

Here is what I have tried and the problem that arose: 1)  I used 1:1 NAT and the servers responded with no issue.  This would be a workable config however I use Kerberos for single sign-on for my clients.  To use this security protocol and bind the clients to the server, I must use a public IP on the server machines.  In this scenario however, everything else worked fine.  2)  I then tried using the DMZ and putting the servers on the DMZ port with a public IP entered in the network config of the machine.  That even worked fine and I was excited until I noticed that the servers were reporting the public IP assigned to the DMZ port as their IP when they sent mail.  I then ran a test and that is the case.  The servers - each with a public IP - are reporting the IP of the DMZ port.  I can't have that because the mail servers need to announce a correct IP so the reverse lookup will match.  Once again, a little gnat gets in the soup.
