Cisco Routers :: RV110W Unable To Access Other Subnets When Using PPTP VPN

Jan 1, 2013

I've encountered a problem when using PPTP VPN to access my network. I can connect in and able to ping the hosts connected to the RV110W. [code] On the local network, I am able to ping the hosts in 192.168.250.x from 192.168.251.x and vice versa.Static routes are configured to ensure that all networks are reachable. The problem comes when I tried to VPN (PPTP) in from a remote location using the Windows XP's built in default VPN dialer. When connected, I can ping all the hosts on 192.168.254.xxx segments, but when I tried to ping the hosts in 192.168.250.xxx and 192.168.251.xxx segments, I get a request timeout.

The routing table on the RV110W shows the gateway for 192.168.254.240 (the VPN IP address) as 0.0.0.0 and interface is WAN.What am I missing and how should I configure the RV110W so that I can access the other subnets through VPN?

Cisco Routers :: Pass Through PPTP On RV110W?

Jan 26, 2012

I have a pptp server on my network and am trying to configure my new RV110W so that I can tunnel through to it from outside.

I believe I must do port forwarding for TCP on port 1723 to get those packets going to my PPTP server. PPTP also uses GRE and I don't see that as an option anyware in port forwarding... Does that just work... as a matter of the VPN pass through checkbox being enabled ?

My netgear router would lock up every few days but it under the firewall configuration it had list of services that included PPTP and I just selected that, entered the IP addresses on the outside that I would accept, and the IP address on the inside that the PPTP clients would connect to, and it worked....

I'm thinking it is harder on this device because this device supports actually logging into it..  I am interested in learning more about that technique especially if it is more secure but the way I see it the firewall device can see all of my network and the pptp server I am using is on a file server and limited to those files shared on that server.

Cisco Routers :: RV220W PPTP Users Unable To Access Subnet Across Tunnel

Apr 21, 2012

I have two offices connected with an IPSEC VPN tunnel using RV220W routers.  The Tunnel works fine for local users between the two sites(Site 1:10.0.0.x; site 2 is 10.0.2.x).  I have also set up PPTP users for remote access.  PPTP users that connect to site 1 cannot access site 2 and vice versa.   The PPTP users have no trouble accessing the resources on the site that they connect to.  I have tried activating RIP and adding various static routes with no success.  If I PPTP connect to site 1 and I tracert to an IP address on site 2 the route goes to the site 1 router and then goes to the internet(connected to the site 1 router) where it stops.

Cisco VPN :: PPTP Setup With RV110W And Win2k3 RRAS?

May 17, 2012

Setup/Config

1.  2 physical locations (sites).  One has a STATIC IP for the WAN (S2), the other has DDNS for the WAN (S1)

2.  Both sites face the Internet using RV110W routers.  LAN IPs are Router1(192.168.1.1)  and Router2(192.168.2.1)

3.  A RRAS server is setup behind the S1 router and is negotiating all the VPN traffic.  The S1 router is configured to allow VPN traffic through and the Firewall is forwarding TCP 1723 traffic to the VPN Desginated network adapter on the RRAS.

4.  At S2, the router is configured without any VPN settings.  I am going to have the workstations (all Win7Pro) use the built in VPN connection to connect with.

5.  RRAS is configured to allow up to 10 VPN connections at once, and I have made sure it is configured properly.

Issue:At S2, I am able to connect a single workstation on the VPN server with no issue.  However, when I try to connect another workstation on the VPN (I should say user) it never connects and it fails.  I don't have a SS of the error code, but through my research, I determined that the VPN configuration is only allowing one VPN connection at a time to the S1 site.  The issue then is, how can I make it so all the workstations/users can connect to the VPN at the same time?I am able to connect each workstation/user to the VPN individually one at a time, but I am unable to connect more than one VPN connection at a time.

Cisco Routers :: Unable To Use Dynamic DNS From Private Subnet On RV110W

Mar 6, 2013

I have RV110W connected in private network 192.168.5.0/24, I have redirected pptp port from adsl modem to the RV110W and VPN works OK. DDNS on the adsl modem is not available.I need to use Dynamic DNS functionality on my RV110W. The device supports several DDNS services (TZO.com, Dyn DNS.com, 3322.org and noip.com). For all but TZO the public "Internet IP Address" shows as 192.168.5.110, which also gets auto registered with the DDNS service.I have tested this with free noip.com account and this is obviously undesired behavior. I need the router to register my real public IP.For TZO it shows the proper public IP, but TZO service is no longer available on TZO.com.

I am trying to connect my RV110W from my home office to our office IPSec router.  I have a dynamic IP address and am using DDNS, therefore the RV110W local endpoint needs to be configured with my FQDN, not the IP address as this will change.

This option is not available in my router - I am running firmware 1.2.0.9

Cisco Routers :: Unable To Establish VPN Between RV180W And IPad Via PPTP

Mar 8, 2013

I have tried to make a VPN connection between RV180W and iPad with PPTP. I have enabled the server, set the address range, added and user and enabled it.

I entered the same information into iPad but when I try to start the VPN, iPad just tried to make connection and finally fails with an error stating that PPP server cannot be reached.

I think the devices are able to make some kind of connection as if I change the gateway IP address incorrect, I get a different kind of error message. I also tried to reboot the router...

Cisco Routers :: RV110W 1 Computer Cannot Access Internet?

Nov 23, 2012

My current network consists of 4 computers, 3 windows 7, 1 Windows Home Server 2003. All are wired to a gigabit unmanaged switch which is connected to a Netgear WNR200V2 router.  The router is connected to the cable modem. I replaced the Netgear WNR2000v2 router with a Cisco RV110W firewall which i had preconfigured using another computer. The 3 Windows 7 PC's connected up with no problems. The WHS 2003 computer has no internet access. All 4 computers are visible on the lan and the 3 Win 7 PC can access the internet. I've tried accessing the internet by URL and IP from the WHS with no luck. All computers are assigned static IP's. I've checked all my settings, turned off the firewall in both the WHS and the RV110W with no change. If I plug the Netgear router inplace of the Cisco, all computers including the WHS have internet access. Has to be a setting somewhere in the Cisco router that's blocking the access. IP's for the 3 Win7's are 192.168.1.40, 41,42. Fot the WHS 192.168.1.76.

Cisco Routers :: RV110W Internet Access Policy Website Blocking?

I have an RV110W running firmware version 1.0.1.6 and I am trying to figure out how to enable website blocking in the Internet Access Policy screen. The Add Row button is grayed out in that section, as are the associated checkboxes.

Is there something else one needs to do to enable this feature?

If I set a name etc. at the top, and click save, it tells me "You must at least set a website blocking or PCs rule," so it is not the case that one has to save some information before continuing!

Cisco Routers :: RV110W - Firmware Download Page And Inbound Access To Mapped Ports

Nov 22, 2011

I saw a reference to release notes for firmware 1.1.0.9 (I think that was the number) for the RV110W but if I browse the firmware download page I only see 1.0.1.6 available for download.  Is this available somewhere or am I confused and saw a reference to something else?

I have an installed RV110W at a client site that has to be rebooted about once a week since it stops allowing inbound access to mapped ports.  For example, it stops forwarding connections on Port 25 to the client's e-mail server.  I thought for a while there was a software issue with the e-mail server but after days of eliminating all other likely issues I rebooted the router and everything was fine.  Now the problem recurs about once a week and rebooting the router always fixes it (this is week 3).  Forwarding to ports 80, 443, and several others also stop working.

Cisco Routers :: 3750 / RV042 And Multiple LAN Subnets Access To Internet

Nov 27, 2011

We have RV 042 deployed for internet access/firewall purposes. Due to growing number for Wireless devices and also to separate WLAN traffic from wired devices, we have created a separate VLAN/IP Subnet for the wifi devices. We are having trouble accessing the internet from the WiFi VLAN/IP Subnet.  Cisco 3750 is layer 2 and layer 3 device. We have VLAN 1 (10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0), all wired devices and RV 042 are part of VLAN 1. Connectivity to internet from VLAN 1 is good. VLAN 2 (192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0) was created for wifi devices, 3750 does the inter-vlan routing, I have enabled the multiple subnet feature on the RV 042 and added 192.168.1.2 / 24 to the subnet list, we still have issues accessing internet from vlan 2 devices.

As a workaround, I shutdown vlan 2 and added 192.168.1.0/24 as secondary address to the VLAN 1 interface on 3750 and i was able to access internet from 192.168.1.0/24 network with wifi devices also on vlan 1, we want wifi devices to be on separate vlan / ip subnet. Looking at the documentation for RV series routers, it talks about supporting multiple subnets access to internet by enabling multiple subnet feature but it doesn't seem to work. Are there restrictions on having multiple vlans?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160NL Unable To Use Remote Management Over PPTP IP

Nov 20, 2011

My University has free Internet at student homes, but we need to login by PPTP to get an official, public IPv4 and be able to reach the outside world. The network people at the University says that when the PPTP is up, everything should be open (no firewall of any kind).

have my WRT160NL that gets a 10.10.73.0/23 address from DHCP on WAN port. Currently I have 10.10.74.21. My internal network uses 172.17.17.0/24.My PPTP-server is located at 10.192.1.1 and when I connect, I usually get an IP in the 158.37.73.0/24-range. Currently I have 158.37.73.28. I use DynDNS to make sure I always know the public IP by the host binders.dyndns.info ...

So, I have Remote management enabled with HTTP and HTTPS, any IP and default port 8080. But no response from the outside world seems to go through. If I turn of the "filter ICMP" but keep the SPI Firewall on, I get ping reply from external sources towards my router, but still no HTTP or HTTPS response.I also have a Torrent I try to port forward to to be active, this is 23277, and this is the only thing that keeps coming up in the incoming log on my router.

It's not possible to connect to the routers management over the PPTP-tunnel?And why can't I get the port forward to work .. Same reason? PPTP 158.37.73.28 -> 172.17.17.100 (LAN) won't work?

Cisco Routers :: RV110W Linksys Was Not Connected To PC At All

Feb 16, 2012

After nothing but hassles with my Linksys WAG120N, I bought a  Cisco RV110W. Yesterday, I tried setting it up with the Linksys being used only as a modem. I was unable to though because when I entered 192.168.1.1 into my browser as per the Cisco setup instructions, I was taken to the admin login for the Linksys. This seemed odd to me, because the Linksys was not connected to the PC at all. The connection setup was exactly as specified in the RV110W instructions: modem connected to dsl line,  ethernet cable from modem (Linksys WAG120N) to the slot marked "WAN" on the RV110W, another ethernet cable from RV110W to my PC. Despite this, the admin page was for the linksys not the cisco.

Today, I exchanged the WAG120N for a Netgear DM111P, just a modem, not a router. Same setup configuration: modem connected to dsl line,  ethernet cable from modem (NetgearDM111P) to the slot marked "WAN" on the RV110W, another ethernet cable from RV110W to my PC. Same result - type in 192.168.1.1 and get taken to the admin page for "Netgear DM111P" .

Cisco Routers :: RV110W - Can't Set A Gateway For VLANs

Feb 5, 2012

I'm having problems setting up VLANs on my RV110W Small Business Router. I have updated the firmware to the latest : 1.1.0.9 Here is my set up :

WAN settings :
IP : 192.168.1.252 / 255.255.255.0 - Gateway 192.168.1.254
 VLAN1 (default) :
IP : 192.168.2.254 / 255.255.255.0
 VLAN3 (test) :
IP : 192.168.16.254 / 255.255.255.0

Inter-VLAN routing option is checked.

Symptoms :

- The communication from VLAN1 to WAN is fine

- The communication from VLAN3 to VLAN1 is fine

- The communication from VLAN1 to VLAN3 is not working

My routing table is :Routing table Entry ListDestination LAN IPSubnet MaskGatewayInterface192.168.2.0255.255.255.0192.168.2.254LAN192.168.1.0255.255.255.0192.168.1.252WAN192.168.16.0255.255.255.00.0.0.0LAN0.0.0.00.0.0.0192.168.1.254WAN

As you can see, the gateway for VLAN3 is set to 0.0.0.0, which is wrong I believe. I don't know how to update that. I tried to add a a static route for the subnet, but the router did not let me do that.

Cisco Routers :: How To Setup RV110W Just To Act As Wi-Fi Hotspot

Mar 15, 2012

I know this product isn't really designed for that... but I've to do so. LAN is managed by Windows DHCP server and I've Internet acces through Firewall. I think I've to connect RV110W to the company LAN with the RV110W WAN interface. I want the Wifi IP address to be in the same IP range than the LAN to allow Wifi clients to access our internal server but RV110W doesn't accept this. Or do I've to ignore the WAN interface and deal with only the RV110W LAN interface?

Cisco Routers :: RV110W Warnings - RDP Fails

1) Where can I find explanations of what a warning means in the logs on an RV110W?
2) Why isn't traffic from my server making it back out from our network to the originating RDP client when it seems I have configured everything to allow this to work?

The details:

I have a firewall rule that says this.  (Note, I've tried restricting the services to just RDP but expanded to all traffic as part of my testing.):

And a port forwarding rule that says:

But I keep getting these errors when testing the RDP from *anywhere* at all.  Searching these forums and the internet at large for the reason these are warnings and what to do has been fruitless.  However, these will show up for any attempt I make to connect.  Also, there were rules for each of these IP addresses that show up as warnings to allow access to the 10.x.x.2 destination.  It seems that the problem is traffic isn't making it back.
