Cisco Switches :: SFE2000P Stack With LAG?
Oct 3, 2011I would like to find out if the Cisco SFE2000p supports Link-Aggregation in a stack. For instance Unit 1 interface 1 and Unit 2 interface 1 in the same LAG?

View 1 RepliesI'm doing some tesing in SFE2000P linksys switch about the TACACS authentication. I have configured the switch accodringly to point my ACS server with key string. Now, I'm able to login into the switch with TACACS account in HTTP/HTTPS only and but, not with the TELNET access.
Still Switch is authenticating with the local user account only, when in TELNET access method.
I looking to buy SGE 2010 swith, but I have some question:
1. Can I use 4 SFP ports and stack of two switches at the same time.
2. Is it possible to use for stacking ports other than 24, 48?
3. What is maximum possible number of ports to use for stacking (can I get more than 1Gb thruput).
Can I create lag betwen stack unit to increase speed between units ?? stack connection is only 1Gbit on ports 24/48 if posible lag link must be in trunk mode ?

I have 3 SLM248G4S switches in a stack (SW1, SW2, and SW3), and want to pull one out and configure it as a stand alone.
If I just disconnect the stacking ports from SW3 and reconnect the bottom stack port from SW2 to the top one of SW1, the two switches continue to function together fine, but SW3 still seems to think it's part of the stack (still shows #3 on the LED screen) and doesn't work at all. I cannot even telnet into SW3.
I have to setup my first flex stack and wanted to make sure I do it right. I have the physical aspect of the stack down. From what I gathered I have to setup the master switch as the highest priority and then provision the other two switches. But I have configs on the other two switches, do I have to delete them? And do I have to setup individual ips for the two slave switches, because from what I saw the master switch is the only one with an ip address? The master switch is a poe 2960S-48LPS and the two other switches are 2960G-48TD

If I right-click - Topology - Device Report ; I see all four switches. The switches are standard 3750 switches and should be included in the Device Packages for CiscoView
Also if I go Reports - Detailed Device ; I see the same two devices show up under Module Information. However when I go to Reports - Device Attributes ; I see all four devices correctly displayed.
I have tried and deleted and added the stack in CiscoPrime, but with same result.
I have 2 switches c3750 which I want to install in stack to replace two Nortel switch that I have in production.
When connecting my new stack of cisco switches to a cisco router c3750 to 2600, they begin to restart by itself. I mean, There is a cisco router 2600. which I want to connect to the stack of switches. The problem is that when the switches connect to the router it begins to restart.
If you need to see the running config of the cisco Switches or the 2600 router.
Recently, we had a 3750X stack of 9 switches reload with no information as to why. Our syslog server received no spurious errors regarding the cause nor did the location lose power. The UPS to which it is attached logged no glitches relating to power. Other cisco devices (router, other switches not in the stack) did not reload. No one was in the MDF during this time. We self insure these line of switches so a TAC case is not an option at this time. Any forensic tools that I could try in an attempt to narrow down the cause.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIm trying to recover the password from my stacked switchs(doing procedure on master switch),im following a guide i have read in this forum("SRW248G4 V1.1 unable to reset password"), at console terminal have chosen "password Recovery" it prompts the "current password will be ignored" and then i hit "Escape" the switch start loading de configuration, at this point i attempt to login from telnet or http but the login fails.
Here is the password/username combo im using (admin/blank ; admin/admin). Is it possible to restore admin password or should i just hardware reset the switchs?
Symptoms: The switch hangs - after a hard reboot and after two hours switch No. 2 flew out from the stack. After the reboot, everything returned to normal and now when a few days passed switch works without problems. Devices: WS-C3750X-24T-S

I'm using a stack of four SGE2000P switches for a PoE video camera system. I've got the cameras in a VLAN and everything's working fine.
I'm wondering, though, is there a way to find out what data rate the stack interfaces are working at (since it's going over cable infrastructure we put in ourselves), and also what percentage of that bandwidth is being used? I don't see anyway to get to those interfaces from the main page, and I wasn't able to find a way to do any sort of percentage thing even on a regular interface.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two 3750 layer3 switches and I need to connect them via stack cable.so if I connect them with the stack they will be act as an one switch, but for the configuration if I create a VLANs on the master switch (applied all the configuration on the master one) this configuration will be transfered to the slave one or I have to repeat the configuration that I did on the master.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLooking for feedback from other organizations that have large 3750 stacks. I've got one stack of (8) 3750's composed of (6) 3750G's and (2) plain 3750's. This particular stack is usually unresponsive to SNMP queries and often fails to write config when we make changes. After a couple tries it will finally go. Part of my probably here is likely the plain 3750's that always boot faster and come up as the master. I should manually set the master to one of the G's. What I'm wondering is who else has 7-9 3750's stacked and are they performing well for SNMP, telnet, etc? I've got another newer stack of 7 3750E's that I need to add one more switch to. Need to decide if I want extended downtime to break the stack up or just add the 3750X to make member 8 and hope it performs well. I have 50+ 3750 stacks working great on our campus.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do ios upgrade on 5 stacked 3750 switches. All the switches have different model number, so i am wondering which image file i should download. As far as i understand all the stacked switches should have the same IOS, i may be wrong. The switches have the following model numbers and SW images;
Switch Ports Model SW Version SW Image

1 28 WS-C3750G-24PS 12.2(35)SE5 C3750-IPSERVICESK9-M

3 52 WS-C3750G-48PS 12.2(35)SE5 C3750-IPSERVICESK9-M
4 30 WS-C3750E-24PD 12.2(35)SE5 C3750E-UNIVERSAL-M
5 30 WS-C3750E-24PD 12.2(35)SE5 C3750E-UNIVERSAL-M
which image file i should use as they all have different model numbers and Cisco provides different image files for each model.
We have several stacks of 3750 switches where this problem is occurring. All of the switches are running IOS version 12.2(50)SE3. (Yes, I know it's old.)
We're seeing inconsistency in how the stack reports members when issuing the following commands:
sow switch
show version
show inventory
Not all members are showing up in the output of the "show version" and "show inventory" commands. For example:
HUNTI-WV-WDAC03#sh switch
H/W Current
Switch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State

I have several SGE2010P switches connected in a stack. They are working fine as a stack.
Question is - what traffic, besides stack control, is carried over the stacking links?
All unused ports are VLAN 1U. Ports in use belong to VLANs 100, 101, and 105.Since I cannot configure or see the stacking ports, I am unclear if any non-default VLAN traffic passes over those links between switches?
we have two ASA 5510 connected in failover, and a pair of cisco 2960s switch connected in stack. Currently one interface of primary ASA is terminated on switch1 and a interface from standby is connected to switch2 as Inside, and switch1 and switch2 are in stack. for redundancy purpose i want to use multiple interfaces of ASA for inside , so first i thought to use etherchannel , but it has a limitation that , it cannot be terminated on stack switch(as per cisco document [URL]
So my question is :
1. can we use redundant interface feature where 2 physical interfaces combined to a redundant interface (eg interface redundant 1) for inside redundancy purpose.
2. Can these ports from primary/standby ASA terminated on stack switches (2960s), will this work (if the switch with active port goes down, will the other port take over in the redundant interface with the other switch).
I am wanting to etherchannel from a 3750 stack to core Layer 3 switches (also 3750) with a cable going to each core switch, I have put both core switches and the stack under a 28bit subnet mask, but I dont seem to be load balancing across both links.

-Can I just add the new switch with clean configuration without changing the current configuration ?
-How is assigned the stack number? i need the new switch be with the GI4 / x?. I can I manually by assigning ports?
-If I want to the new 3750 member witch lower prioridad, can I change priority before adding to stack?
Can LMS 4.1 give a report for port capacity in stack switches? We are starting to have issues where our techs are going out and plugging devices into switches and the switches are getting full. We would like to be able to see how many ports are left in each switch.

And our uplink to the Server DMZ recieves almost all of it's BPDU packets back(is that normal?) The issues lies where we have random ports dropping out - across all stacks for seconds at a time. We get errors/warning such as,Pinging between the DMZ network appears to be fine. Pinging from the client/switch network show packets being dropped quite frequently. All devices are on VLAN1 (I've have researched this and this could be the cause of the issue)
