Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2 Internet Connections On ASA5510?
Feb 29, 2012
I have an ASA5510 from which I am using 3 interfaces.
-One interface have the main internet connection router
-One interface is attache to a switch 3750 and has multiple virtual interface configured on it
-One interface has another internet connection router.
What I am trying to do is to have only one of the Vlan using the second internet connection and not the first one.
My idea was to just have a static route who says that on interface VLAN_B (for the special VLAN), all traffic goes to 2nd internet router interface. But it does not route. All I have is a default route configured : on interface Internet1 0.0.0.0/0 goes to 1st internet router interface.

Here is what I have. Windows Domain Controller running DHCP with configured scopes.I have one ASA5510 And 4 HP Procurve switches with VLANS preconfigure from vender.
Here are my DHCP scopes/VLANS:
VLAN1 -Default 10.2.x.x/17
VLAN201 -DHCP 10.2.201.x/24
VLAN202 - WLAN EMP 10.2.202.x/24
VLAN203 - WLAN Guest 10.2.203.x/24
VLAN 252 - MGMT 10.2.254.x/24
Here is how I configured the DHCP Scopes:
Changes needed to make to the DHCP Server (AUSPDC) in order to get things working with the new switches.
1) Configure 3 new DHCP scopes on your DHCP server.
a) scope for 10.2.201.x/24 to serve LAN employees and give them a gateway address of 10.2.201.254.
b) a scope for 10.2.202.x/24 to serve WLAN employees and give them a gateway address of 10.2.202.254.
c) a scope for 10.2.203.x/24 to serve WLAN Guests and give them a gateway address of 10.2.203.254.
I just upgraded and decided to go with the VLAN configuration. None of my VLANS can get out to the internet or each other due to I think My ignorance in configuring the firewall. The PC's are getting proper IP address but they cannot get out or to the other VLANs. I tried to duplicate what is working for VLAN1 but it is not working.
Here is my config.
Result of the command: "show running-config"

We have a second ASA 5510 that is suppose to be a hot standby. I need to find out that, as a hot standby, does it have to have the same licenses as the ASA that it backs up. We purchased 50 SSL VPN licenses for that unit. If it fails over, we need to make sure the failover asa can allow SSL VPN connections.

Is It possible to hairpin clientless SSLVPN connections (ASA5510)? I'd like to create a portal that allows a user to log into the central clientless webpage and access RDP/VNC resources at remote sites connected via site-to-site VPN. Initial testing shows the user can access resources at the hub site, but not the spokes. I have the standard:
same-security-traffic permit inter-interfacesame-security-traffic permit intra-interface
...entered on the ASA.

I've setup access via our ASA5510 portal which is working fine but I can't seem to connectto the ASA when there are two active connections. If there is only one, it's fine.
Problem - Unable to Connect More Than Three WEB VPN Users to PIX/ASAProblem :Only three WEB VPN clients can connect to ASA/PIX; the connection for the fourth client fails.
Solution :In most cases, this issue is related to a simultaneous login setting within the group policy.Use this illustration to configure the desired number of simultaneous logins. In this example, the desired value was 20.
ciscoasa(config)# group-policy Bryan attributes
ciscoasa(config-group-policy)# vpn-simultaneous-logins 20Would this be the same thing?
If so how whould I check the existing setting in the GUI?

I have just set up a Cisco ASA 5510. It basically only contains the settings provided in the startup wizard. It however does not let through traffic from the internal interface to wan 2 (wan 1 is not connected yet but traffic should also be able to go there).

I’ve attached a simple network diagram of my WAN network. We have branch offices that came into our Headquarters using VPN tunnels over the public Internet and then we have a handful of offices that are connected to our headquarters via a private MPLS network. All of this traffic is routed into our Cisco ASA 5510s that we currently use for firewall and core network routing and VPN termination. All branch offices have VPN tunnels to our Cisco ASA. The Cisco ASA isn’t necessarily designed for core routing even though it was worked decent for us. We’d like to move the core routing off of the Cisco ASA and just use it as an Internet security/DMZ device like it is designed. We were hoping to purchase one pair (for failover) of the Cisco ISR router to perform our core routing and VPN termination. Can we eliminate the Cisco 2621 Internet router and use a single, beefy router to handle the Cox MPLS traffic and the Internet traffic on the same router? If we had one ISR doing these duties, where would the router sit in our topology? Is it safe to bring our Internet Circuit and MPLS circuit into the same router? How about with VRF?Do the Cisco ISR 2900/3900 support VRF and can I do VPN tunnels if I do the VRF?

I've recently segmented my network and part of the process was creating a DMZ VLAN. I'm running ESXi 5 and have created two new VM's to add to this DMZ to begin the process of moving everything public facing to the new VLAN. At this point they new hosts will not communicate with each other, their gateway, and of course not the public internet. To get the first out of the way, they are configured according to VMWare's VLAN guide: I have created a new vSwitch port group on the host and assigned them to the VLAN id 11 for the DMZ VLAN, and have the switchport on the switch (3560) setup as trunk in dot1q mode with all vlans tagged. The management VLAN is also NOT the default VLAN 1, so that is not causing any issues. My other server segment VLAN is working fine on the same ESXi host/s, so this does not seem to be the issue.
On the network side of things I have my ASA connecting to a 3560 with two interfaces, one for "inside", one for "dmz."Is this below correct? I feel like the static route should be route dmz with a gateway to 10.0.1.1..
_ASA_
interface Ethernet0/2
nameif dmz
security-level 50
ip address 10.0.1.1 255.255.255.0
route inside 10.0.1.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.201.2 1 <- (192.168.201.2 is my 3560)

On our ISA server we have some publishing rules with the option "Requests appear to come from the ISA Server computer". This allows us to forward incoming external traffic to a network that is not directly connected to the ISA Server internal interface. We need this because our internal server does not know the route to the internet client but does know the route to our ISA Server, so the internal server sends his response to the ISA server and he sends it to the internet client.

Both act as DHCP relays to a Windows Server 2008 DHCP server. All the Trunking has been setup and works. When I Untag a switch port, and point it to whichever gateway?

I have 2 2911 routers that will be connected via fiber with an ethernet Gig handoff to each router. Each router will then be connected to local networks on a second ethernet interface on the router. I have always connected routers via serial connections so this is new to me. Outside of the usual ethernet interface addressing configuration, is there anything else that would need to be configured on the 2 routers?

Recently I changed our default gateway from a pair of PIX515 to ASA5510. Since I changed the gateway anyone connecting to our wireless VLAN/network who tries to access the Internet may or may not get a page load. If the page loads it is extremely slow and sometimes the browser page indicator will just spin like it is loading. It's not our access points, if attach an ethernet cable to my laptop and put my switchport in the wireless VLAN I experience the same problem. DNS resolves OK, ping responses are consistent with no drops and access to any internal resources are good. All other LAN VLANs/networks work just fine, it's just Internet access on the wireless VLAN. I see the correct traffic flow in the ASA packet capture. Anything in the ASA Packet inspection related to wireless networking that could be blocked? Is there a way to check for a routing loop possibly?

I have two 3750 stacks that are currently connected using two1GB fiber connections in an etherchannel. I now added new switches to each stack with 10GB modules in them. We would like to bring up the 10GB connection, but still have one of the 1GB lines as a backup, or even the whole etherchannel. Is there a way for us to make the 10GB the main and the 1GB the standby?

I am having an issue when implementing an additional internet connection on our ASA 5510. The new connection is "TWCOutside". I was my understanding that static NAT would force our externally hosted servers (Email, PPTP VPN, and FTP) to continue to utilize the "ATTOutside" connection. Our remote site-to-site VPN traffic has two static routes configured to force it to continue to use the ATTOutside connection. When I switch the metric on the 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 98.103.148.145 route to 1, and change out default dynamic xlate to use "TWCOutside", it "mostly" works as expected. Email, the PPTP VPN server, and our remote site-to-site VPN server continue to use the ATTOutside connection as designed. Our end users begin using the new connection for thier internet browsing.
However, our FTP server, in the DMZ, completley loses outside access. It cannot ping to 8.8.8.8, or resolve DNS queries. The is a static NAT statement for this server, as it is using one of our dedicated public IP addresses. I need it to continue to do so for the next few weeks.Effectivley, we just want to give our end users internet browsing on the new TWC link, but leave everything else on the old ATT link for the time being. The only problem I am having is the DMZ connection. I am currently "rolled back", so no one is using the new connection until I figure this out. I can easily switch the metric and dynamic PAT back to using the TWC connection, but I need to have some things to try with the DMZ before doing so. [code]

I started having connectivity issues between my core 4506E (Sup7E) and Cisco 2960S. There were input and CRC errors on Te int (SFP 10Gb - LRM) on 2960S, which cause the interface to reset and drop connections. While troubleshooting this issue, I have replaced patch cords and also had the tech checking the fiber. He said that there was some residue on one of the connectors, so the light levels fluctuated in 1300nm, but worked fine in 850. Well LRMs are using 1300, so he re-polished the tips, which worked to stabilize the light levels. After all that, I was still receiving the input/CRC errors, but the connection was NOT dropping. As my last resort I swapped the SFPs between the core and 2960, thinking I should start having issues on the core end. Well, here's what happened: I stopped receiving input/CRC errors on 2960 (also no errors on the core), but 2960s started generating Rx power high alarms: [code]

I am a fairly basic configs that I just can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. I have what I would consider a fairly basic config that I just can’t seem to get to work and I am sure it is something I am just not doing or grasping. Basically I have two 3560 switches that I would like to connect together with four 1Gb ports and trunk four vlans across said port-channel, I created the port-channel and set it to switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q I then set all four ports to channel-group # mode on. With that setup I can’t ping from switch to switch on the nonnative vlan.

I'm using a radius server to authenticate ssh when connecting to my company's switches (a 3560 + several 2960s).
Everywhere I've looked claims that using the line 'transport input ssh' in my switch config should disable telnet access and allow ssh only. But after changing 'transport input ssh telnet' to 'transport input ssh' I can still connect to all of the switches from telnet. I can't block telnet with ACLs either because my company uses a telnet based terminal client to do most of their work.
I don't have much experience with radius. How do I stop telnet connections when using radius to authenticate?

I have Cisco 871 router with 12.3. OS version.
1. I'm interested if it's possible to block certain contetn only at certain time ? e.g. We would like to block facebook from 7:00 to 10:00 and from 11:00 to 15:00. I was going through cisco manuals but can't find the right answer to this.
2. Cisco 871 has 4 LAN interfaces and one WAN interface. Currently WAN interface is connected to adsl modem in bridge mode and LAN 0 interface is connected to switch.
I'm interested if I could use remaining 3 LAN interfaces for adsl connections same as I'm using WAN interface. Then I would create vlans that would use LAN interface 0. Each of those VLAN's would use different adsl connection.I would assign different IP to each VLAN's so users would be able to change their gateway and use different ADSL connection.

Since two weeks I have a problem with the VLANs who I started to configure. I hope together we find the way.I have 5 VLANS configured in a CISCO 3560G switch. In my windows server 2003 I configured DHCP scope for each VLAN.One of the requirement to connect vlans each other is to put the IP of each vlan as gateway in the clients. So, how can I do to access to internet?. The ip of my Firewall are in one of the VLAN´s.When the configuration of the LAN only had one DHCP scope the gateway was the ip of my firewall. But now i don´t know how to configure the DHCP server, or the firewall, or the switch, or all of them To get access to internet.

I have an 891w as my edge device for my home office. I have a VLAN for family use (wired and wireless) that routes out to the internet just fine. I have a second VLAN assigned to a VPN tunnel that backhauls traffic to my corporate network (wired and wireless) and all of the traffic gets to the corporate network fine when I am on that VLAN.
However, while I am on the VPN VLAN, no traffic gets to the internet. I believe it is because I have the gateway of last resort (0.0.0.0) set to the WAN IP address provided by my ISP, so DNS is resolving against corporate, but because there is no specific route, it is trying to dump the traffic back out the WAN without traversing the VPN tunnel.

We have 2 internet connections- one for production and one as a backup. The backup connection will be used for allowing guest visitors on a wireless network that is on a seperate VLAN.
We have the following networks:
VLAN 1 production, 192.168.1.0
VLAN 10 backup internet connection, 192.168.100.0, Interface 100.2
VLAN 41 wireless guests, 192.168.41.0, interface 41.1
VLAN routing provided by Dell 6224 switch and other switching is Cisco 2970 (L2) switches.Backup Internet router is SMC (Comcast)
I would like to allow clients on VLAN 41 access the internet connection in VLAN 10 at 192.168.100.1. Clients on VLAN 41 can PING and trace to the default gateway 100.1. VLAN 41 clients are also able to get DHCP info from VLAN 1. NSlookup fails when using the ISP DNS servers. NSlookup is suscessful when using our internal DNS servers, but web pages are not returned. It eventually fails. We've tried to set the DFGW on the clients to both 41.1 and 100.1 with no success.
100.2 know where to find 41.1 interface for the 41.0 network. The router/gateway can PING the clients on VLAN 41, 192.168.41.0 network and visa-vera.
It seems like the clients are not able to get through 100.1 to the internet or the gateway/router doesn't know how to get packets back to the clients.A static entry was made on the router that mapped back to the next hop at 100.2. 1 Someone alluded to a NAT issue, where the returning packets have information for the 100.0 network only and the internet router doesn't know to send the packets through to the 41.1 interface to the clients.
