Cisco Wireless :: LAP1522HZ Is Not Able To Communicate With Controller.
Jan 25, 2013
I need to configure LAP1522 series Lightweight AP. When I connect my LAP to switch port .It pull out IP address from DHCP.I configured DHCP option 43 on that subnet. All Other lightweigh APs are working fine. When I ping that Ip address from the switch where I configured LAP it just give 100% loss. Also MAC-Address on that port show me two mac-address entry from that port. [code]
I know that the 3600 series APs are not supported on the 4404 WLC. However, would the following scenario be supported? I would like to use the 4404 (software rel. 7.0) as a guest anchor with a 5508 (software release 7.2) as the foreign controller supporting series 3600 APs. I ask because the APs do not need to join the guest anchor.
We have a customer that have 2 5508 as primary and backup controller and a 4400 as an anchor controller. We plan to upgrade the 5508 to 7.3.112.0 and the 4400 is already 7.0.116.0. Will there be any issue if the anchor controller is not the same code as the foreign controller? Do I also have to upgrade the acnhor controller to 7.0.240.0?
We are trying to navigate the waters in choosing between a in-house, controller-based, wireless network solution or a cloud-based solution. We have been presented with the usual suspects in cloud-based (Aerohive, Meracki, etc) and with Cisco (5500) and Aruba on the other side. We are a multi-campus organization with approx. 200 APs.Any hard reasons why go with a controller-based vs. cloud-based solution? If we must keep the conversation limited to Cisco, why go Meracki over Cisco's WLC solutions or vise versa?
I am looking to configure a wired and wireless guest network. I have industrial barcode scanners that connect to one SSID and then there is the business network on the office SSID (no vlan seperation for these devices just different SSIDs). There is not really a need to seperate the business network from the scanners in any case. However, there are needs for a guest network and this needs to be seperated. At the bare minumum I would like to have the wireless guest network. Here is what I have: 2125 Wireless LAN controller managing 18 LAPs (1 indoor and 17 outdoors)Cisco Cat 2950 switches (2 x 24 port and soon to be replaced with 2 x 48 port 2960's with 802.1x capability) Sonicwall TZ210 firewallOne existing wired and trunked vlan for PLC infrastructure. One ESXi hosting Windows server guests (soon to be 2 with vMotion) The reason for the wired guest access network is tp prevent anyone from plugging into the wall jack in the office with thier home laptops or anyone else from being on the same subnet as our domain machines. Granted they would be unathenticaed but there would be no layer 2 seperation and that is what I think would be best.
How would I go about doing this on the wireless controller without an anchor controller just using my existing hardware? I would like to have the Guest SSID only availible in the front office. Is it possible to offer a guest network while still servicing the business network SSID on the same access point? Then might I be able to have the guest network be treated as it should at the controller? However this might present another issue altogether as the guest traffic will be over the same wire as the business SSID until it hits the controller for management.
Wireless on this laptop will not connect. Another laptop connects without problems.DDS (Ver_10-12-12.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Owner at 20:48:45.56 on Fri 02/11/2011
One of our laptops won't connect to the internet via wireless, gives a "Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server (192.168.1.20)" error. It works fine when plugged in via ethernet, and all our other computers connect to wireless just fine.
The wireless is set to acquire DNS automatically in the TCP/IP IPv4 properties. I've tried to flush DNS, reset IPv4 and reset Winsock with no luck.
I have 2 brand new systems, a desktop running Windows 7 Pro connected with a had line, and a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium connected wirelessly. Both can access the router, both can access the internet, both can be pinged from the router. However, they absolutely cannot see each other on the network. If I try to ping by name, the addresses don't resolve. If I try to ping by IP, I get either no reply or the "destination host unreachable."I've disabled firewall completely on both. I've double, triple, quadruple checked all sharing settings (network discovery is enabled on both, sharing enabled everywhere, etc. etc.). I've tried disabling all other network adapters on the laptop, no difference. I've tried all of the online tips about repairing winsock.
i have a wlc 5508 with code 7.0.220, with multicast enabled in it and on the lan too.I am having a bit of confusion getting bonjour to work on the wireless side. Looking at some of the cisco docs, i still have some questions on how to get it working in my specific enviroment.
I have the wlc conected to the lan via a port-channel. 2 wlan (ssid1 and ssid2) each wlan maps to a specific vlan (dynamic int), the management int (also used for dynamic ap-manager) on a third vlan (vlan x).
I need to get Bonjour working between ssid1 and vlan-x, so my wireless clients (in ssid1 can use bonjour with their laptops) can synch between wireless and wired. I know that you can do this within the same wlan (ssid) but in this case, when a user has a laptop wired into the network he cant comunicate to the wireless device. I read about Vlan Select and Multicast Optimization however, from what i understand i need to setup an interface group and just assign my wlan1 and management int to it, correct?
when or if i need a different segment (vlan y) in my lan to also "bonjour" with ssid1? For this i assume i would need to create a dynamic interface on the wlc using the same IP segment and do the a new interface group?
I've set up my HP on a network with two laptop pc's. The second PC works great but the first PC will not let me print a document from a program. I get an "unable to communicate with Printer" Error. However, I can scan to both computers and the first computer can print a diagnostic page.
I am preparing for CCNA exam and for that I have been working with OSPF in packet tracer. In the scenario below I have made configuration with three routers and everything seems to be working well. However, following ping commands cannot be reached.PC0 cannot communicate with other two PCs. Others can.(can ping from PC1 to PC0 and PC2. Can ping from PC2 to PC0 and PC1 BUT CANNOT PING FROM PC0 TO PC1 and PC2) [code]
I tested ospf multi-areas in packet tracer as shown in attached file.(Sorry I don't know how to upload the lab image.)There I got a problem that router 0 in area 1 and router 6 in area 3 cannot communicate.Except this, router 0 can communicate with other routers and the same to router 6. I have made a virtual link between backbone, area 1 and 2 ABR router 1 and area 2,3 ABR router 4.I use process id 123 for every area. But when I type "show ip route" in router 0, it is shown [code] when it is typed in router 6, it is shown [code] So, router 6 cannot communicate with router 0.I don't wanna make a static route to 1.0.0.0 network in router 6.
My friend and I bought Acer Aspire 5741's about 9 months ago and neither of us has had any problems until now. My friend went to connect to the internet via wireless router yesterday to find that there was limited connectivity (no internet access). We assumed it was a router issue and I gave her a number of things to check but all seemed ok with it. I went to her house to look at it today and when I ran the connection troubleshooter got "windows can't communicate with.......... (DNS server)". I connected my laptop via her router and everything was fine. I brought her laptop back to my house and tried to connect to the internet via my router and got exactly the same 'DNS' message - my laptop again connected without any problem.
I have re-booted the routers, laptops, network adapters etc and also checked the wireless adapter settings on both laptops, which appear to be the same. I have re-set the TCP/IP stack and have also tried ipconfig /release and /renew - none of which seems to have made any difference. the results of the tests are as follows (linksys is the SSID in use):

I've been having a problem with my browser lately, Its really slow and it turns out I have 1000 ping average ...the ping does up and down some times its 1 or 2 sometimes 500 . any way I get this msg when I use the diagnose option " Cannot communicate with DNS server(196.40.3.9) .
Haven't been able to connect to the internet for the whole day,This is what I get when I run ipconfig in the cmd, tried doing the two resets but it won't work!

I need to get a dir 615 router in one room to comunicate wirelessly to a dir 655 in another room that is connected to my internet modem. I can't connect them with an ethernet cable. I need the extra ports on the dir 615 because the signal strength from the 655 is too weak
I have an skill exercise with 4 Routing Protocols Default Route,Static Route,Eigrp, Ospf. I have about 6-7 routers, and each of them has an routing protocol. But the problem is the Main router INTERNET, which it has to use Static in a direction, and default in the opposite path. This is the scheme of routers and how the r.protocol have to be configured.
I recently set up our new Cisco Linksys E1000 router (we originally had a Belkin, but it is dying). It works perfectly fine on my desktop. However, there is only a "local connection" on my mom's laptop, a Toshiba Satellite running Vista. Diagnosis: Cannot Communicate with Primary DNS Server (68.105.28.12). I've read a bunch of other posts on many websites but so far nothing has worked.

I have two routers in my office, each one having wireless extensions and its own DSL connection.I want machine on A subnet communicate with machine on B,I'll need some sort of physical connection (a cable? a new device?).Router A and B are typical home router with wifi extension: they only have a WAN port,I won't be able to let them talk to each other simpy by plugging an Ethernet cable between two LAN ports, since the two routers are on different subnets.
I had my broadband installed and activated and I'm using my laptop with vista I've used it before with wireless Broadband and was fine but now I'm having trouble using the Internet, wifi is on and it is showing as connected to the router but when I open the web browser it is unable to connect, I used diagnostics and it comes up with the following:Cannot communicate with primary DNS server 194.168.4.100
Problem: No internet connection. 'Can't communicate with primary DNS server'Information: I am using a Windows 7 64 laptop (LAN connection) to connect to the internet. Two days ago this stopped working (after working fine for 3 months). Using windows troubleshoot I receive the message 'Can't communicate with primary DNS server'. I have checked the IPv4 and IPv6 and they are all set to automatic.I then tried to reset this using Microsoft 'fix it solution' as indicated Can't communicate with Primary DNS Server this still had no luck.I have also tried,
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
and ipconfig/ release and ipconfig/ renew none of this has made any difference. I can successfully ping the default gateway but cannot ping google. All packets time out.Additional information: Using an older laptop I am able to successfully connect to the internet on the same line. Also the laptop that is not working does work fine at work. So I don't even know if the problem is with the hub or the laptop.
My wireless connection showed connected but Internet Explorer kept showing the page cannot be displaced. When I clicked the diagnose connection problems, the message kept coming back with "Cannot communicate with primary DNS server (65.32.5.111)".
I'm having an absolute nightmare trying to get my laptop to connect to the internet. It will connect to our home network (virgin media cable broadband) locally but won't connect to the internet. I've tried a few of the fixes I've read on here such as changing the DNS settings myself but it's going nowhere.I can connect to other networks for example my parents virgin media network and the other laptops and my ps3 can all connect to our internet just fine so I really don't understand why mine isn't working. When I diagnose the problem it says "Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server (194.168.4.100)" and underneath it says "Network diagnostics pinged the remote host but did not receive a response"

I'm having issues connecting to the Internet through my netgear router. The other laptops in the house work fine so I'm sure it's an issue with the setting on my laptop that are the issue. It connects to the router, tries to identify, them says unidentified and remains at a local only connection. The error says: cannot connect with primary dns server(192.168.2.1). Windows cannot resolve it itself.
