Cisco Wireless :: Dual Band On AP541

Jul 24, 2011

I just got 3 AP541, the reason for getting this was the dual band , but how to get this AP to actually give both 2.4 and 5 GHZ at the same time?

I have in my other office a Asus RT56, it costs about 1/3 of the Cisco and this supports both 5 and 2.4 GHZ and i get a 450 mbit connection, can only get 130 on the Cisco.

Linksys Wireless Router :: No Connection To 5GHz Band On E3000 Dual Band?

Apr 14, 2010

I have the new XBOX 360 black N wireless adapter and the Linksys E3000 dual band router as I want to upgrade the network range and speed to N. I set up a unique SSID and passphrase (WPA2) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. My XBOX could connect to the 2.4GHz band network and could connect to XBOX Live. But when I configured all the settings and tried to connect to the 5GHz band network, but no luck. My XBOX just said it failed to connect. I was sure that I did type in the SSID and passphrase correctly. I still cannot figure out what went wrong. I even suspected either the wireless adapter or the router malfunctioned.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: DHCP Not Working For 6 GHz Band?

Apr 2, 2013

Region : UnitedStates
Model : TL-WDR3600
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP : Centurylink

I'm using a WDR3600 router, and I'm having difficulty with getting internet access on the 5 GHz band. Right now the router is broadcasting in both 2.4 and 5 GHz as two separate APs. The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.

Cisco Wireless :: 2602E Run As Non-Dual Band?

May 27, 2013

We had been purchasing the Aironet 1242AG's but found they are discontinued and we should purchase the 2602E Standalone device. I have noticed that all the antennas are dual band and support MIMO. In the past we would just buy a splitter box and connect it to one of the antenna ports on the AP, and then run cables to antennas and connect those to the splitter box. The antennas were just standard 2.4Ghz 3-5 dBi. We would set that one radio on the AP to transmit and receive. Now I am wondering if this whole setup will change on a 2602E because of the MIMO?I have seen there are MIMO antennas and I am trying to figure out what is compatible and what is not. Is my old way of doing this still going to work but we'll only see G speed? And to get N speed do we need the MIMO antennas in place?

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR4300 2.4 Ghz Is Not Working

Dec 31, 2012

Region : UnitedStates

Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23

I have no problems connecting on a 5 GHz band or wired to the router. However any device connecting on 2.4 Ghz gets barely any bandwidth and drops after running for a short time. I have test numerous devices and have the same issue. What was odd is a device on 5GHz that worked fine had the same issue when connecting on 2.4 GHz which seems to say it is only that band. I have an old router that works fine on 2.4 GHz on channel 1 with all the security settings I used on the 4300.

Cisco Wireless :: Access Point 2602e Antennas Dual Band

Apr 9, 2013

I am currently looking for informations about access point 2602e, more precisly about antennas.This AP have four RTNC connectors for external antennas, but I found these table into Cisco documentation: [code] When I see that, I understand that we only need, to transmit, three antennas with 2,4 Ghz (which is the only band we will use in a first time), but four with 5 Ghz.I also found these informations, in the same documentation:The 2602E models are configured with up to four external dual-band dipole antennas, and two 2.4-GHz/5-GHz dual-band radios. The radios and antennas support frequency bands 2400–2500 MHz and 5150–5850 MHz through a common dual-band RF interface. Features of the external dual-band dipole antennas are:

• Four RTNC antenna connectors on the top of the access point
• Three TX and four RX antennas

My question: with four antennas, we have three TX and four RX, is it for 2,4 Ghz, 5 Ghz or both?

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WR2543ND / USB External HDD Not Recognized

Mar 30, 2013

Model : TL-WR2543ND
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :

ISP : I have an external HDD that I regularly use in any computer I have access.It's an HDD enclosure 2.5" 3.0 USB, with a 750GB WD HDD inside. I use it in computers with all versions of USB, even in my TV. It doens't require an external power source, and just have 01 input/output, which is a USB port.After plugging it in the router (running with the last available firmware from TP-LINK - 3.13.27 Build 121207), I entered the setup screen of the router, and under USB Settings, pressed RESCAN, but the HDD wasn't recognized.What happens is that when I plug it in the router, the LED in it starts blinking (in normal usage, the LED becomes red for a couple of seconds, and then becomes steadly blue, when it gets connected into a equipment). It is probably a matter of power, as if the router wasn't providing enough power to it when it's plugged.Afterwards, I've made the following tests:

1) Used this External HDD in 3 different equipments (a notebook, a netbook and a TV), with different versions of USB ports. It was recognized and read normally in all of them.

2) I tested a pendrive with the router. After RESCAN, it was shown normally in Storage Sharing page.

3) I have downgraded the firmware to 120509 version, plugged the HDD in the router, and once again, it was an unsuccessful try.

What I can conclude from those tests is that:

1) My External HDD is working normally;

2) The router's USB port is working properly;

3) So, if both are working, it can only be a matter of compatibility between them.

Tp-link Dual-band Wireless :: Wifi Unstable On Tl-wdr4900?

Apr 3, 2013

Region : Netherlands
Model : TL-WDR4900
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 121211

after changing from a Thomson router with wifi to the TP-link WDR-4900 I find that the wifi is very unstable. The 2.4GHz is operating on the same channel as my previous router (channel 8 - which is the lest busy channel around my house), and none of my neighbours have wifi on the 5GHz band. Almost all devices in my home regularly have to reconnect to the wifi, both on the 2.4GHz as on the 5GHz (tested with more than 8 devices). Almost every 15 minutes I see a "wifi channel disconnected" message, 10 seconds later followed by a "wifi connected" message. the Wifianalyser app on my tablet confirms that the wifi signal drops once in a while to zero. I use the latest stable frmware (I read that there is beta firmware but I don't like to loose warranty). The stability seems to unrelated to the amount of traffic on the wifi network.

Will this be fixed in the next firmware of the TP-WDR-4900 ?

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: Interface Of TL-WDR4300 Is Slow

Feb 11, 2013

Region : Netherlands
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 121225
ISP : Online

Recently I replaced my Linksys WRT54G for a TP-Link WDR4300. But unfortunately this did not result in an increased speed.On both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz speed is limited to roughly 2.5-3 MByte/s, which is OK for watching movies etc. but I could reach those speeds with the 802.11g router as well!

I'm using the WDR4300 as access point, so I disabled DHCP server and NAT functionality, left the WAN port empty. And I set fixed IP in the subnet range of my modem/router. (horrible Speedtouch device). All works fine and stable, but too slow.

In the wireless settings I tried the 20 and 40MHz bandwith, disabled WMM, tried to lower the transmission power, tried to set a fixed channel. But all those changes do not have a significant influence on the transfer speed. (both on 2.4 and 5GHz) I'm the only 5GHz access point in my neighborhood, so interference cannot be a problem.
The clients indicate a link speed of 300mbps very close to the router, and this drops to indication of 54mbps further away, but effective link speed remains fairly constant (and stable!) (I find it strange that indicated link speed already drops at 3 meters with clear line of sight to the router)

I did the tests with fixed IPs on two laptops and no devices connected on the LAN ports, to rule out problems caused by the modem/router or other clients.The tests were done using a Lenovo x220 and Asus Zenbook, both with Intel dual band 802.11n wifi interfaces. The Lenovo reaches 22MByte/s via the Cisco access point at my work (with less signal as at home).

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: Use WDR4300 As Switch Rather Than Router?

My DSL connection comes into our house in the basement and the DSL modem came with a router included. I bought the WDR4300 for the higher speed wireless connections and the gigabit ports. I really don't need the "router" functionality. I would like to put the WDR4300 on the second floor to give (hopefully) the broadest wireless range. However, I would like all my PCs (including those wirelessly connected) to be on the same sub-net. Is there a way to configure the WDR4300 so it acts like a switch rather than a router?

I'm having difficullty configuring a USB hard drive to my WDR3600

The WRD3600 is acting as a switch with my netgear cable modem router as the DHCP server. The DHCP server on the WRD3600 is turned off. the WRD3600 is accessible on my home network and I can connect to attached wifi and Ethernet devices.

when I attach my WD USB hard drive, I can see the device on the WDR3600 web GUI USB settings page. The WD hard drive service status is started and enabled. when I click on the open the disk link, nothing happens. When I try to access the 192.168.x.x/volume1 address, I get a page that says the username or password is incorrect.

When I disconnect the WDR3600 from the rest of my network and turn the DHCP server back on and connect directly to the router, i am able to access the connected usb hard drive.

is it possible to have the WDR3600 acting as a switch with DHCP server off and still access usb devices connected to it?

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: Slow Speed On WDR4300

Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 120810 Rel.44064n

I purchased a WDR4300 yesterday and have set it up. The internet is running smoothly although the transfer speed is rather slow. When transferring from my computer to my Seagate GoFlex Home i get about 6 - 8 mbps with Wireless N. The router is set to only use Wireless-N and my laptop has the latest drivers. I have also tried other computers in the house and the speed is the same. The GoFlex Home is connected to the router via a LAN cable. Prior to updating i used a Linksys WRT54GL and managed speeds of about 3 or 4 mbps over its G only connection. As for transfers between 2 computes the rate is about 1 - 3 mbps

As for distance the Wireless router is only about 1.5 meters from the laptop (across the room) with nothing in between them to cause interference. I have also checked what channels my neighbors use (using inSSIDer) and picked 13 as there is only 1 other person nearby on that channel and they are quite far away.
