Linksys Wireless Router :: No Connection To 5GHz Band On E3000 Dual Band?
Apr 14, 2010I have the new XBOX 360 black N wireless adapter and the Linksys E3000 dual band router as I want to upgrade the network range and speed to N. I set up a unique SSID and passphrase (WPA2) for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. My XBOX could connect to the 2.4GHz band network and could connect to XBOX Live. But when I configured all the settings and tried to connect to the 5GHz band network, but no luck. My XBOX just said it failed to connect. I was sure that I did type in the SSID and passphrase correctly. I still cannot figure out what went wrong. I even suspected either the wireless adapter or the router malfunctioned.

Aug 20, 2011I changed the 5 GHZ SSID name using Cisco connect on my E3200 router as was expecting to see 2 available wireless networks on my laptop, but it seems that only the 2.4 GHZ is still broadcasting as it was before. When I connect to it with my laptop it shows it connecting with 802.11n, so I would think that my laptop would see the 5 GHz SSID if it was broadcasting. I am trying to take advantage of the dual band feature and connect the 5 GHZ to my blue ray player for real time video streaming.

My wireless settings on my Superhub modem look like this.As you can see it has settings for 2.4 OR 5GHz and wireless modes of 54, 144 or 300Mbps.

I'm using a WDR3600 router, and I'm having difficulty with getting internet access on the 5 GHz band. Right now the router is broadcasting in both 2.4 and 5 GHz as two separate APs. The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.

Apr 24, 2011My wireless internet has been acting a bit weird lately. I use a linksys Dual band wireless-N USB adaptor (WUSB600N) to connect to my router, a 2wire 1000sw. I am on windows 7. Recently, the internet has been dropping and reconnecting the connection weirdly; it is apparent in Portal 2 Co-op mode; it says the connection has been lost to the server, and then within 4 seconds, re-joins the server. During that time, the little network icon (the 4 bars in the task bar) says "Identifying."

My DSL connection comes into our house in the basement and the DSL modem came with a router included. I bought the WDR4300 for the higher speed wireless connections and the gigabit ports. I really don't need the "router" functionality. I would like to put the WDR4300 on the second floor to give (hopefully) the broadest wireless range. However, I would like all my PCs (including those wirelessly connected) to be on the same sub-net. Is there a way to configure the WDR4300 so it acts like a switch rather than a router?

My ISP has provided me a router: Zyxel P-2601HN which has an ideal WLAN transfer rate of 150 mbps. I live in a concrete 2 story house so signals are weak at best on the other floor - therefore, I Have bought the TL-WDR4300 as an extension for the latter floor. I have connected the routers from LAN to LAN and the Zyxel has 192.168.1.1 on LAN and the TL-WDR4300 had 192.168.0.1 as out set. I have changed this to 192.168.1.2 and all the setup (disabled DHCP + other) seems to work alright. BUT i can not log into the TL-WDR4300 !! Not with http://192.168.1.2 and not with [URL]. What I can do to get into the setup of TL-WDR4300. I know I can alays backup the setting and reset the router and load the setting again, make alterations, saving .....but it kind of drastic !Can the two radios SSID names (2,4 MHz and 5 MHz) be the same name as the SSID name on the Zyxel P-2601HN ? What are the implications ?

Just had my line upgraded to 50mbit down, and 10mbit up. Whenever the router is between the PC and the modem, my speeds drop to 30mbit. If i plug directly into the modem, I get the full 50Mbit. Upload speeds are always 10mbit.I've tried power cycling devices, and even replaced all cables with cat6 (which I know isn't the issue, but i'm just trying to eliminate everything)

TP-LINK WDR4300 750N Dual-Band router issue.
I started having a problem with a VONAGE V-Portal VoIP adapter losing connection to the Vonage server. I Unplugging the adapter and waiting doesn't solve the problem. The only way I can temporarily fix the issue is to reboot my TP-Link router. Once the router is rebooted the adapter can connect to Vonage. After a few hours it loses connection again. I have set the adapter to use a static IP outside of the DHCP reserved pool. This didn't fix the issue.
I have had vonage for many years and this router for the last 10 months and not had a problem until the past two weeks. Nothing only my local network changed. All of my PC's have no problems with internet access during the time that the Vonage adapter gets an Error 004 (lost connectivity). I still have connectivity with my ipod touch and other internet enabled devices as well. I was using 8.8.8.8 as my DNS server in the router DHCP configuration as well as the static value when I tried using a static IP with the V-Portal. I then switched all system to the ISP (Comcast) preferred DNS servers. The problem still exists. The only way to get the Vonage adapter back to running is to reboot the router.
I should mention I have Motorola Cable modem to a TP-LINK WDR4300 750N Dual-Band router. I have two Vonage vportal adapters plugged into the a couple of the LAN ports on the TP-LINK router. One vportal is my roommates, one is mine. Everything has been working fine for the last 6 months and now one or the other Vportal loses communication through the router, but the other vportal doesn't lose connectivity. It only happens to one of them and it varies as to which one will ERROR out.

I have low signal range from this WDR4300 router on both bands and especially on 5Ghz i lose my connectivity on just few meters away from the router and on other rooms in my 80m2 apartment, i also own another tp link 740n with only one antenna and the range is better with it almost covers all my apartment. all my systems are configured under "IP & MAC Binding". Binding is activated globally and all check marks for every ID are set. After i finished my configurations, the "ARP List" status shows, that everything is bound - so far everything is great. The problem appears after a router reboot or after shutting the router down and powering it on again. The "ARP List" then shows only a few of my IDs and their status is unbound. I need to go back to the "Binding Settings" and hit "Save" - after that all my IDs appear in the ARP-List and everything is OK again.

1. Any device which is switched off (WiFi turned off) wont be able to connect again without a router reboot. I get a connection timeout error when trying to connect. Happens only when there are more than 3 devices connected. (all my devices are ARP linked to MAC addresses with fixed IP addresses - I thought this would eleminate the problem but not)
2. Streaming videos stop playing after 5 minutes. I have to click on the play button to start the stream again. When I test the internet speed through speedtest.net or speedtest.comcast.net, I get over 40MBPS consistently.
3. The router doesnt recogonize 3TB or above HDDs on either ports
4. As long as all devices connect to one channel (either 5G or 2.4G), the connectivity speed is excellent. The moment a device connects to the other channel, the connection speed fluctuates a lot on both.

Mar 29, 2011I'm networking a clients home and he specifically wants dual-band wifi through-out. Now he has a fairly large 3 story house, and wanted to place an access point on the top floor to be assured he'll have strong and reliable signal. He's going to have multiple TV's wired into the network, as well as computers, laptops, phones, a Xbox 360 and a PS3. Were using Gigabit switches and a D-link Simultaneous Dual-band Gigabit router.The modem, router, and main 16 port switch will be in his basement in a semi-server room. He currently has 12 lines run throughout his house, 3 to the top floor, 5 to the main floor, and the ability to lay some in the basement if he needs. The 16port switch will plug into the router, I'm also putting an 8 port into the router from the main and top floor. The remaining lines will plug into the switch in the basement. On the top floor I was going to install an AP or Router turned into an AP into the 8port switch.Now the only reason I am considering using a router instead of just getting an AP, is that neither of us can find a simultaneous Dual-band AP. It seems the only simultaneous DB out there is in routers. So, my question is, will I be able to easily use a router as an AP AND get simultaneous Dual-band out of it if I do so? Is there a Simultaneous Dual-band AP on the market that would a better investment?
