TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: WDR4300 - One Computer Losing Internet Frequently After Firmware Upgrade

Jan 23, 2013

Region : Canada
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 121225
ISP : Rogers

Ever since upgrading my firmware from 120426 to the latest(121225), one of my computer(windows xp, TP-link Nano) is frequently losing internet connectivity.I purchased the router a month ago and firmware 120426 was the version that came installed. The router would stop working about 3-4 times a week, requiring me to reboot it. Because of this I did some research online and found out about version 121225 which supposedly should improve performance and stability. After the firmware upgrade today I noticed that one of my computer is having a lot of trouble maintaining internet connectivity for more than 30 minutes. When checking wireless connectivity it would say that I am connected and that the signal strength is excellent. I'm also able to ping 8.8.8.8 but not www.google.com(I've tried ipconfig /flushdns and it doesn't solve the problem). I also have trouble accessing or pinging the router(192.168.0.1) with this computer.

Home Network With Preference To Dual Band And Gigabit Functionality

Dec 19, 2011

I am currently looking to upgrade and extend my home network with preference to dual band and gigabit functionality. My problem is choosing the correct hardware.I want dual band to separate the network for the kids (a PC, laptop, Xbox 360 and phones all wireless) and set up parental controls and maintain connection speeds etc. For my needs I need the network to be connected to my Onkyo AV Amp (for internet radio and music streaming only), Blu-ray Player, Sky HD satellite box (all wired) and a PS3 (pref wired) and a few wireless devices all N capable. Apart from the obvious gaming capability I would like to be able to stream HD video to the PS3, PC (wired) and laptops via a USB HDD connected for now on an access point or modem router to save on the cost of having separate networked devices.

I currently have ADSL so I was looking to get a dual band gigabit modem router to serve the kids wireless hardware whilst my current hardware is on another floor and is connected with a wire from the existing modem but I have to keep swapping it from PS3 to amp etc.In short I am hoping to have a gigabit, dual band ADSL modem router and connect to a gigabit access point (with dual band if possible) via the cable I have sent to the other floor to wire up the 4 devices. I've currently been looking at Netgear and Buffalo solutions as I've had problems with Linksys and Belkin routers in the past. Would this be possible with just 2 devices (modem router and access point) whilst maintaining decent speeds and if so can someone shed some light as to what I should get.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR4300 - QoS Priority To Network Device

Region : Canada
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.17 Build 120426 Rel.29216n
ISP :

In the absence of true QoS capability on the 4300, what is the best way to give bandwidth priority to one of my network devices?

I have an Apple Airport Extreme connected to my network. It is used to stream music from my Ipod to my sound system. I do this through my network (rather then connecting the IPod directly to the AE) so that I can connect to radio stations over the internet. The problem is that I'm getting random dropouts (pauses in streaming). I've shut down everything on the IPod to make sure that there are no Apps competing for WIFI resources. The dropouts happen even if there is little activity on the network (e.g., file downloads, youtube, etc.)

What I want to do is to get the 4300 to give top priority to the AE. How can I do this without QoS capability? Can I allocate more bandwidth to the AE when it is receiving streaming data?

Note: The AE is always connected to the network. It uses DHCP to get it's IP address. It is connected to the 5G band. Signal strength is typically 1 to 2 of 3 bars (average is 1.5 bars). The 2.4G band has a slightly higher signal strength but the same dropouts occur so the problem does not appear to be signal strength.

I'm using a WDR3600 router, and I'm having difficulty with getting internet access on the 5 GHz band. Right now the router is broadcasting in both 2.4 and 5 GHz as two separate APs. The 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine, but when I connect to the 5 GHz band my device is not assigned an IP address and cannot connect to the internet (or even the router configuration page). Unfortunately, I don't have another device capable of accessing the 5 GHz band, so I can't check to see if the computer is at fault, but both the computer and the router have worked together with no problems before, and this computer has done fine in accessing other 5 GHz bands.

He has each one hooked up to external antennas connected on the outside of the buildings. Back in December I got WDS working between the two routers and the PC in the house was able to use the Internet in the Office as well as share resources between the office and house computers. Two days ago I was down there working on his network and I was having problems setting up network shares. I discovered I wasn't able to ping from the Office PC to the House PC or vice versa and what's even stranger, I couldn't ping the House PC from the House Router (WR2543ND). I checked WDS status and on the House Router is says "Run" but on the Office Router it says "Int" but the WDS is definitely up because I am able to ping from the Office Router to the House Router, plus I am able to use TeamViewer to connect to the House computer from the Office computer. There are no firewalls enabled on Windows. Lastly the DHCP server is only running on the Office Router.

My DSL connection comes into our house in the basement and the DSL modem came with a router included. I bought the WDR4300 for the higher speed wireless connections and the gigabit ports. I really don't need the "router" functionality. I would like to put the WDR4300 on the second floor to give (hopefully) the broadest wireless range. I have changed this to 192.168.1.2 and all the setup (disabled DHCP + other) seems to work alright. BUT i can not log into the TL-WDR4300 !! Not with http://192.168.1.2 and not with [URL]. What I can do to get into the setup of TL-WDR4300. I know I can alays backup the setting and reset the router and load the setting again, make alterations, saving .....but it kind of drastic !Can the two radios SSID names (2,4 MHz and 5 MHz) be the same name as the SSID name on the Zyxel P-2601HN ? What are the implications ?

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: Have To Reboot WDR4300 Router Daily To Keep Vonage

Feb 28, 2013

Region : UnitedStates
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
ISP : Comcast
TP-LINK WDR4300 750N Dual-Band router issue.

I started having a problem with a VONAGE V-Portal VoIP adapter losing connection to the Vonage server. I Unplugging the adapter and waiting doesn't solve the problem. The only way I can temporarily fix the issue is to reboot my TP-Link router. Once the router is rebooted the adapter can connect to Vonage. After a few hours it loses connection again. I have set the adapter to use a static IP outside of the DHCP reserved pool. This didn't fix the issue.

I have had vonage for many years and this router for the last 10 months and not had a problem until the past two weeks. Nothing only my local network changed. All of my PC's have no problems with internet access during the time that the Vonage adapter gets an Error 004 (lost connectivity). I still have connectivity with my ipod touch and other internet enabled devices as well. I was using 8.8.8.8 as my DNS server in the router DHCP configuration as well as the static value when I tried using a static IP with the V-Portal. I then switched all system to the ISP (Comcast) preferred DNS servers. The problem still exists. The only way to get the Vonage adapter back to running is to reboot the router.

I should mention I have Motorola Cable modem to a TP-LINK WDR4300 750N Dual-Band router. I have two Vonage vportal adapters plugged into the a couple of the LAN ports on the TP-LINK router. One vportal is my roommates, one is mine. Everything has been working fine for the last 6 months and now one or the other Vportal loses communication through the router, but the other vportal doesn't lose connectivity. It only happens to one of them and it varies as to which one will ERROR out.
